Trees are a blessing on our beautiful planet. Every tree species has something to contribute to the planet, are some of the biggest and oldest living things on Earth. They help sustain other plants and animals. Humans need trees for different purposes, such as food and construction timber. Trees are important in both cities and forests as they play a critical role in both environments. In the forest, they provide shelter and food to animals. In the cities, trees are important in keeping the air fresh and the temperature cool. During the day, they absorb carbon dioxide and give oxygen, thereby controlling pollution by vehicles and industries.

Without trees, the world will get polluted, and end as many plants and animals that depend on them will die, and multiple ecosystems will collapse. Friends are people we can rely on and are present throughout our lives. Sometimes they are as important or even more important than family members. Similarly, trees play a crucial role in every environment, and they are the foundation for forest areas where every organism thrives. Trees offer shelter and food and contribute to the stability in the ecosystem. Without a thick cover of trees, most of the land becomes scarcely populated or barren. It means trees are the best friends of every other living organism in the environment.

Trees are important for the beauty they provide in the cities and their important role. During the day, they absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide for their photosynthesis process and release oxygen. It means they absorb the polluting gas given off by most vehicles and replace it with oxygen, which improves air quality. Trees also keep the cities cool by regulating the moisture in the air and the local weather over the city. The coolest cities worldwide have dense parks and wooded areas that control the temperature. Finally, trees are important in maintaining the fragile ecosystems in the city, and they shelter a range of birds, animals and insects in the town.

Trees have always played a central role in the development of human civilisation. It would have been impossible to build great cultures without using wood, from providing fruits and berries to the hunter-gatherer tribes to delivering timber. In the modern-day, trees continue to play a critical role in maintaining the local weather over continents and protecting the ecosystems. They are our best friends because trees are still a major source of raw material for our lives. It is important to protect trees to ensure the survival of all organisms on the planet, including us.

Trees Are Our Best Friend Essay in 500 Words

Trees are often known as our best friends. They provide us with different types of food and shelter, keep a check on pollution levels, increase oxygen levels in the environment, help with biodiversity, etc. Trees were here on Earth long before humans existed, and today we humans are the biggest threat to their existence. Unlike us, trees only require water and sunlight for their growth, and in return, they are being cut down for selfish reasons. Thinking economically, trees are important to manufacture different products. However, their existence is not just to boost our economy but also to maintain ecological balance.

‘The true meaning of life is to plant trees, under whose shade you do not expect to sit.’ – Nelson Henderson

We often hear that trees are our best friends. Here are 6 reasons why it is called so.

  • Air Purification

The air feels fresher in forests and less populated areas. This is because trees act as natural air filters, absorbing harmful pollutants. Urban areas are polluted by industrial and vehicular emissions, and there is less green cover as compared to rural areas with forests. Trees can reduce 7 to 24% of particulate matter.

  • Water Purification

Trees are a major line of defence against floods and landslides. Their intriguing root system slows down water absorption into the soil and helps prevent water slide and erosion. A single evergreen tree can intercept around 15,000 litres of water in a year. This becomes more crucial in flood-prone areas.

  • Bio-Diversity

Forests are home to 80% of Earth’s terrestrial plant and animal species. A single tree can house hundreds of species of insects, fungi, mammals, and plants. Likewise, trees depend on their residence to disperse seeds, control insects, and keep them from overgrowing, which leads to healthy and thriving ecosystems.

  • Social Impact

Trees are not just important for the environment, but for our society as well. More than 1/4th of the human population is either directly or indirectly dependent on forests and forest products. This includes relaying on food and job opportunities for arborists, researchers, wildlife biologists, bloggers, etc.

Trees are known to reduce stress and anxiety and protect our skin from harmful solar radiation. Moreover, trees provide opportunities for outdoor recreation and physical activity such as walking, jogging, cycling, and gardening.

Air filtration affects trees on a planetary scale. They cool the area by cooling, absorbing carbon dioxide, and converting it into oxygen. A single tree can absorb as much as 22 kilogrammes of carbon dioxide per year, making trees one of the most effective carbon-catching machines in the world.

With such a wide array of benefits, there is no wonder why trees are known as our best friends. Fighting deforestation and replanting damaged forests are crucial tasks for the coming decades. It will be important to improve our well-being and prevent the most dangerous effects of climate change.

Essay on Trees are Our Best Friend

Trees are the essence of life. If you can listen to the murmur of leaves, they say, "we are your best friend." Trees play a crucial role in ecology and our life. Earth will be a desert without greenery. Trees offer numerous benefits to humans, expecting just a bit of love and care, which we often ignore. They give us fruits and foods to feed, oxygen to breathe, absorb carbon dioxide, and timber to make homes. They cause rain, preserve water bodies, and prevent soil erosion and floods. Trees are grand old children of mother earth, surviving longer than human beings.

Importance of Trees

We tend to forget the contribution of trees and endlessly exploit them to meet our growing demands. Despite the vengeance, trees, like true friends, share all the right things with us. They offer the most delicious fruits to eat, seeds to cultivate, and flowers to make this world beautiful. They give us timber and firewood. From timber houses, furniture and different tools are made. From Cellulose, the fibre present in raw wood is processed to make paper. Herbs and teas come with many curative properties, effectively curing many diseases.

Villagers use firewood for cooking their meals. Woods are used to building their huts, carts, and other agricultural tools. A shade provided by a tree is an oasis in the scorching heat. The flowers with a sweet smell beautify our surroundings, and they are offered to God. On the trees, the birds build their nest and wake you up in the morning with their chirp. The butterflies collect nectar from flowers and make honey. Children play around a big mango tree and eat sweet ripe mangoes from the tree. The soothing shade and cool breeze under the tree calm our body and mind. They provide so much and always stand like a true friend.

Birds build the nest on trees, and many animals take shelter in it. The birds lay and hatch eggs on their nests. New lives emerge from the eggs and fly in the sky. Forests are the habit of many animals and birds, where they live, hunt, and prosper; without forest, they would not survive. The ecological system will be disrupted without plants and trees. Herbivorous animals like elephants, giraffes, and zebras survive eating leaves, twigs, and stems of trees. Predators like a lion, tiger, and cheetahs take rest on the shades of trees. Animals like money, squirrels, and chimpanzees take refuge in a tree, as most carnivorous animals cannot climb on a tree.

The Amazon rainforest is the lung of this earth, controlling oxygen, and carbon dioxide. The rainforest supplies around 6% of the world oxygen and absorbs the same amount of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. According to the World Life Fund, this forest is the habitat of ten percent of the world's species. The forest is the home of 1,300 species of birds,3,00 species of fishes, and 430 species of mammals.

Trees are guardians of our environment. They control global temperature by releasing moisture in the air. This moisture turns into clouds shielding us from UV rays. Forgetting all the benefits of cutting trees, we cut more trees in a minute than we plant. Nearly .5 660 trees are uprooted in a minute. Every year, 3.5 million trees are cut down. If we continue deforestation, all the rivers on the earth will dry up. If we plant trees within one kilometre on both banks, rivers will flow. Let us make a promise to plant trees to make the environment secure and make our life happy. Trees are the oldest living creatures on this earth. We must save them.

Benefits of Trees to Human and Environment

Trees are highly important to humans and the environment in general because of the various benefits that they provide. The benefits of trees can be categorized as social benefits, environmental benefits, and economic benefits.

Social benefits: Trees serve as a social house for many birds because birds generally build their nest on trees and even lay eggs there. Apart from birds, forests are home to many other animals. Destructing the natural habitat of such animals will leave them devoid of shelter and eventually become endangered. Also, humans see trees as a stress buster because of the serenity it provides. The ambiance of nature reduces tension and fatigue in individuals as well by promoting meditation and self-discovery. Trees also have religious values attached to it. They are worshipped religiously in parts of India like Peepal tree is said to resemble Lord Vishnu, the coconut tree is named after God Lakshmi, the Neem tree signifies Goddess Durga, and the Banyan tree is worshipped during various auspicious occasions. Therefore, cutting these trees is against religion and thus, forbidden.

Environmental benefits: Trees act like a guardian of the environment because they regulate the atmosphere’s temperature and maintain a balance between humidity and dryness and also reduce the effect of greenhouse gases. Apart from this, trees also facilitate the water cycle that causes rainfall and even protect the land from the harsh heat of the sun forming a protective shield and also preventing soil erosion and floods. Trees also help improve soil fertility by releasing nutrients into the soil when the tree and its parts rot.

Economic benefits: Trees also provide us with certain economic benefits as the food produced by trees is converted to other products that are also exported internationally. Timber obtained from trees is also used for making homes, schools, offices, and colleges. Also, the paper used in daily lives is another important economic product obtained from trees. Also, there are many medicines produced from trees to treat diseases like HIV, fever, mastitis, and cancer.

Over-Exploitation of Trees by the Environment and Human Race

Though trees are really significant for all the living creatures on Earth, they are still overexploited in a lot of ways. However, if we as humans keep on overexploiting forest resources at such a pace, we will surely face its after-effects and consequences in the future. The industrial sector possesses a major impact on trees as they are cutting down trees exponentially so that they can get raw materials from the forest in bulk. Apart from this, even governments cut down a lot of trees to clear land for domestic purposes.

Conclusion of ‘Trees Are Our Best Friends’

We cannot survive in this world without our friends and similarly, it is impossible to survive on this land without trees. Trees give us everything and in return, we do nothing for trees. The least that we can do for trees is to protect them from being cut and over-exploited because without them our motherland will turn into a desert. Though the government is taking measures to conserve trees, we as responsible citizens of the country should also take some effective steps to protect these non-renewable sources, that is, our trees and forests.

In today's time, the world pays little or no attention to the direct consequences of deforestation, and each one of us should take measures to protect our trees before it gets too late.

1. What is Deforestation?

The world is becoming a jungle of concrete. Deforestation is the process of permanently removing trees to make cities and towns. Forests are cut for agriculture, gazing, or using timber for construction and furniture.30% of the earth's surface is covered by forest, which provides food, medicine, and fuel to millions of people. In 2017 earth has lost 158,000 square kilometres (about the size of Bangladesh) of the forest. Every minute, an area of forest equal to the football ground is cut down. Most forests are cut for the cultivation of palm, soya oil cultivation, and wood products.

2. How Trees Protect Us?

Trees reduce the force and speed of winds. Trees act as a shield against typhoons and hurricanes, minimizing damage to life and property. The roots of trees hold the soil, preventing soil erosion. The force of the wind is reduced when it passes through dense tree cover like mangroves. The Sundarban mangrove guards the low lying coast against excess salt deposits caused by storms and floods. The mangrove stands as a wall between the land and the sea. We must conserve and regenerate mangrove covers to save the fragile ecosystem and precious human lives.

All the trees in a forest are a shared resource. If too many trees are cut down, some species will go extinct, and others will no longer survive. When that happens, the entire ecosystem goes out of balance. This can affect humans by making it more difficult to get clean air to breathe, kindling fires, and wood building our homes.

Many commercially valuable tree species are threatened with extinction due to excessive exploitation. In Africa, for example, the clearing of forests for timber and charcoal is having a devastating impact on wildlife and local communities.

Deforestation affects the environment and living organisms in many ways. Loss of trees can lead to problems like desertification, climate change and global warming, soil erosion, flooding, wildlife extinction and habitat loss, increase in greenhouse gas emission, etc.

Trees Are Our Best Friends Essay in English (1000 Words)

It is correctly said by a great scholar that “when you plant a tree, you plant a new life.” Trees are one of nature’s most priceless, precious, and valuable gifts.

They seem to be our friends as they give us everything we require. Trees are considered a blessing bestowed upon humankind.

The most important thing is that trees don’t need us. Rather, we depend on them. They play a significant role in the lives of every organism on earth and form an integral part of our well-being.

Significance

Trees are the essence of our lives. Tree leaves murmur, “We are your best friends.” They play a significant role in the ecology and in humans’ and other organisms’ lives.

Trees are our best friends, and they are those friends who give us everything without expecting a single thing in return.

Without the trees, the earth would no longer be green and would turn into a desert. They seem to provide numerous benefits to humans and only expect to get a bit of love, and care, which we often ignore.

They provide us with a lot of things essential for survival. They gave us the fruit, vegetables, and all other food items to feed us, oxygen to breathe, timber to make a home, and other housewares such as furniture, beds, etc.

They absorb carbon dioxide and hence reduce the carbon content in the atmosphere. They are the sole reasons for the rainfall and preservation of groundwater.

Furthermore, they also protect the human settlements from floods and other natural calamities. They prevent soil erosion and landslide disasters.

Some environmentalists refer to trees as the grandchildren of mother earth, surviving longer than human things. Humans don’t see how important trees are, and they keep taking advantage of them for short-term gains.

Why Are Trees Important?

Just like our friends, trees also come into our use in many ways. Everything is shared with trees, just like we share it with our friends. They provide us with fruit, food, seeds, honey, flowers, herbs, and many more.

It is just impossible for any human being to survive without trees, as they belong to the category of principal sources of oxygen on earth.

We tend to forget all the contributions of trees and continue to exploit them endlessly to meet our growing demand and greed. They are just like our true friends who share everything with us.

They provide us with delicious food to eat, flowers to decorate, seeds to practise agriculture , and certain medicinal herbs to cure several diseases.

They also provide us with timber, using which we make our houses, furniture, and different tools. They also provide us with firewood, which we use as fuel to derive heat and light energy.

Fiber present in the cellulose of raw wood is used to make paper. Trees are also a source of teas and certain medicinal herbs that effectively cure many diseases.

Benefits of Trees in Our Daily Life

Trees are beneficial to humankind, and other life forms present on earth because of the various benefits they provide. Benefits from trees are broadly categorised into 3 criteria: social benefit, economic benefit, and environmental benefits.

Economic Benefit: Trees provide us with economic benefits in numerous ways. They provide us with food to eat, which is then converted into other forms and exported internationally.

The timer is also obtained from trees that are used in making homes, furniture, schools, offices, colleges, etc. Trees also provide us with paper, which has its use in our daily lives.

This is the most important economic product that we obtain from trees. Trees also provide many medicinal products to treat many deadly diseases like fever, HIV, cancer, and mastitis.

Environmental Benefits: Trees act as regulators of the environment and guardians of the environment, regulating the temperature of the atmosphere and maintaining a balance between humidity and dryness.

They have an important role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing global warming . They facilitate rainfall by causing transpiration. The more trees in a region, the more rainfall there will be in that region.

They protect the earth’s surface from the harsh heat of the sun, form a positive shield, and also prevent soil erosion and floods . They also help improve soil fertility by releasing essential nutrients into the soil when they rot.

They serve as a social gathering place for many birds, as they build nests and lay eggs on them. They are also a home for many of the animals. Human activities have immensely damaged their habitats, leading to the extinction of many animals.

Humans consider the tree a stress buster because of the serenity it provides. The ambiance of nature reduces anxiety, tension, and fatigue in individuals. They also have certain religious beliefs associated with it.

They are worshipped by the Hindu community, often religiously, in many parts of India. The peepal tree is considered to resemble Lord Vishnu, while the coconut tree is named after the god Laxmi.

The neem tree is associated with Lord Durga , and the banyan tree is worshipped on various auspicious occasions. Therefore, most tribes considered cutting a tree against religion, and thus they forbade this activity.

The 10 Most Helpful Trees

The name of the most helpful tree, which you need to know for survival in the forest nearby, is:

  • Basswood/Linden
  • White Birch
  • Honey Locust

How Do You Save Trees?

Trees are an essential component of the earth’s ecosystem. We must save them by making a few minor lifestyle changes that will help to make our planet a better place to live in.

  • Avoid using products made from palm oil.
  • Try to use less paper.
  • Buy recycled paper products.
  • Go for cloth products over paper whenever possible.
  • Try to push your local government to do more to conserve these trees.
  • Try to look for volunteer opportunities to plant or protect the tree.
  • Buy FSC-certified wood.
  • Make a campaign to save the trees and spread the word about trees and forests on social media.
  • Lastly, try to plant as many trees as possible.

10 Lines on Trees Are Our Best Friends

  • Trees provide us with oxygen, which is essential for our survival. They also take the carbon dioxide exhaled by us, thereby maintaining the natural balance.
  • They provide us with beautiful flowers , delicious foods, timber, and some healthy herbs.
  • They are the primary source of oxygen on this planet.
  • They make our environment look even more beautiful and aesthetic.
  • Trees must be given protection and conserved in their natural habitat.
  • Areas rich in trees benefit from more rainfall and various other climatic phenomena.
  • We never give anything to them in return for all the favours we get from them.
  • Overexploitation of trees and deforestation has led to a reduction in their number, and it badly affects our ecosystem.
  • Proper care and planting of trees are essential to having a better ecosystem.
  • Trees provide us with various benefits, and we must respect that and try our best to conserve them.

Conclusion

We can’t survive in this world without friends. Similarly, we also can’t survive without trees on this land. Trees provide us with everything necessary for our survival, but we do nothing for trees.

The last thing that we can do for the trees is to protect them from being cut down and overexploited. And we need to do that immediately because, without them, we can’t survive, and our motherland will turn into a desert.

The governments of many nations are doing their best to save trees and increase their number.

Still, as responsible citizens of this country, we need to move forward and take some effective steps to protect this non-renewable resource, that is, our trees and forests. Trees are our best friends. This must be our main agenda, and we must protect them.

Then when summer is over, these same people marvel at the beauty of the leaves as they change color. These changing colors signal that colder weather is on its way and we need to start preparing for it.

Beyond this, most people do not know what good friends, trees can be. A tree shares every possible thing for us, that can be wood, fruits, Oxygen and much more.

Some couples know that the trees provide them with a little romantic security as their broad trunks shelter the couple from the glaring and intrusive looks.

Then when it is time to go, the tree stands quietly when the couple carves their initials into its tough bark to mark their important rendezvous with each other. The tree bears the pain the sharp knife brings in order to make sure the couple has their special moment.

Once that is done, the tree preserves that heart and arrow so when the couple comes back they can remember the special time the tree helped bring about. After the remembering is done, the tree looks at the happy couple walk away, still preserving their special moment hoping the couple will return again one day.

But that is not all that a tree does to show how good a friend it is. The tree lends its branches to hold the wood for that young child’s treehouse. Helping him to have hours of joy and fun high above the ground.

It also sacrifices its wood, so that people can have homes, fences, furniture and more. The tree is always giving us a little to big things, so you can have an enjoyable time in your life. That is not all, as many trees grow fruit to help you grow strong and healthy.

There are a wide variety of trees more than willing to let its fruit be taken just so you can benefit from all the minerals and vitamins the tree has provided. On top of that, it allows different animals to make their home in its branches or trunk.

Cats find refuge in the tree’s grasp when it feels it is in danger. A tree lets itself be used as a recreational toy. Boys can become strong, agile and develop motor skills as they climb the different branches just to get to the top.

A little swing tied to a branch lets little girls relax on hot summer days while letting men nap when they tie their hammocks to different trees. Then when one has gone away for a little while, the tree stands there waiting for the owner to return. Spreading its branches upon their arrival the tree seems to say welcome home.

The best sign that the tree is our best friend, is that it does all of this without complaining, demanding payment or some other selfish act. The tree is very selfless and asks for nothing in return.

That character trait we all can learn from. The tree sets the example for all to follow. That is why trees are our best friends.

The unspoken companionship of trees.

Trees, the silent sentinels of nature, are our best friends in the most profound sense. They provide a multitude of benefits, from the oxygen they produce to the habitats they create, and serve as a testament to the beauty and resilience of the natural world.

The Life Sustainers

Trees are irreplaceable contributors to our planet’s ecosystem. They absorb carbon dioxide, a primary greenhouse gas, and release oxygen, a fundamental element for human survival. This symbiotic relationship between trees and humans is a perfect example of nature’s balance.

Guardians of Biodiversity

Trees are not just friends to humans, but to a myriad of species. They provide habitats for countless organisms, from birds nesting in their branches to insects thriving in their bark. Their role as biodiversity guardians is crucial for the health and stability of ecosystems.

Healers of the Mind and Soul

Beyond their ecological contributions, trees have a profound impact on human mental health. The Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, or “forest bathing,” has shown that spending time among trees can reduce stress, improve mood, and even boost the immune system. Their silent, steadfast presence can be a source of comfort and peace.

The Silent Witnesses

Trees are the silent witnesses of our lives and our history. They stand tall through seasons and centuries, observing the world change around them. They symbolize strength, growth, and resilience, qualities we aspire to imbibe.

500 Words Essay on Trees are Our Best Friends

The indispensable companionship of trees.

Trees, often overlooked, are our silent companions and best friends. They stand tall, providing a plethora of benefits, from the oxygen we breathe to the shade that protects us from the scorching sun. The relationship between humans and trees is profound and multifaceted, and it’s high time we acknowledge their indispensability.

The Oxygen Providers

Trees are the lungs of the Earth. Through the process of photosynthesis, they absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, a gas vital for our survival. The significance of this process cannot be overstated, especially in an era where industrialization and urbanization have led to a surge in air pollution. Trees are our natural air purifiers, mitigating the adverse effects of pollution and ensuring the air we breathe is clean and healthy.

Trees are the backbone of biodiversity. They provide habitat to a myriad of species, from insects and birds to mammals and even other plants. In tropical rainforests, it’s estimated that up to 50% of all species on Earth reside. This rich biodiversity is not only fascinating but also crucial for the balance of our ecosystems. The extinction of one species can trigger a domino effect, disrupting the entire ecosystem and leading to unforeseen consequences.

Climate Change Combatants

In the face of climate change, trees are our strongest allies. They absorb and store carbon dioxide, one of the primary greenhouse gases contributing to global warming. Forests act as carbon sinks, helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Moreover, trees have a cooling effect on their surroundings, reducing the urban heat island effect in cities and making them more livable.

The Psychological Impact of Trees

The benefits of trees extend beyond the environmental to the psychological. Studies have shown that exposure to green spaces can reduce stress, improve mood, and enhance cognitive functioning. The Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, or forest bathing, is based on this principle and is now recognized as a legitimate form of therapy.

The Silent Witnesses of History

Trees are also silent witnesses to our history. They have stood the test of time, bearing witness to the rise and fall of civilizations. Some trees, like the ancient Bristlecone Pines, have been alive for thousands of years. Their rings tell stories of past climates, providing invaluable data for climate scientists.

Conclusion: A Call to Action

Despite their immense value, trees worldwide are under threat due to deforestation, urbanization, and climate change. As our best friends, they need our help. We must strive to protect and conserve them, recognizing their essential role in our lives and the health of our planet. Planting a tree is more than a symbolic gesture; it is a commitment to a sustainable and livable future. Let’s not forget that trees are our best friends, and like all friends, they deserve our respect, care, and protection.

Essay on Trees are Our Best Friends for Children

January 16, 2018 by Study Mentor Leave a Comment

We often remember the strange fascination trees had for us when we were very young. It was a real pleasure to climb up a tree, to perch oneself on one of its branches and play all kinds of games. If it happened to be a fruit tree, the excitement was still more there.

What fun it really was to have trees around us when we were kids. We looked up to them almost as our friends and made them active participants of many games we played when we were children.

Trees , indeed, continue to be our friends, even though we may no longer climb up for fun or games. They are a part and parcel of our natural wealth. They add to the beauty and the very life of our creation.

They make the landscape green, colourful and pleasant. It is so soothing to the eye to look at the leaves, the flowers and the fruits. The earth would be a barren place if there were no trees. It would become a desert where no life exists.

Trees, shrubs, grasses and other plants capture the energy of the sun and with the help of water, carbon dioxide and chemicals turn that energy into food for the rest of the living world.

Even meat eaters eat creatures that eat plants. Trees provide us fuel, food, fodder, timber and paper. They are shade-givers, soil-protectors and air purifiers.

Trees can turn wastelands into mines of green gold. Trees like casuarina, which is a fast growing evergreen tree, are especially useful for reclaiming deserts. They are planted along seashores as wind breakers. Leaves, barks and fruits of certain trees are used as medicines.

A number of tree products, like resin, rubber and other products, are used in industries.

Trees play a vital role in soil conservation and economical balance. Their roots hold the soil together. They also reduce the running off of rain water and increase ground water. Ecology is the system of inter- action of all elements of the natural world—plant, mineral, animal and human.

A healthy ecology is one in which elements are in such harmony that none dominates or destroys the other. Trees, in the form of forests, help to hold this balance in a most significant manner. They provide a natural habitat for the wild life and home for the bird life.

They serve as the very basis of environmental harmony. Unfortunately, every year one and a half million hectares of forests are being cut down. This is almost as big as the area of Sikkim.

There will be an ecological catastrophe if forests are destroyed at the present rate, since the rate at which new plantations are being established is not enough. There is a real danger of losing all our forests before new ones come up.

Though, during Vanmahotsava lakhs of trees were planted, only five percent survived. Moreover, all new plantations may not survive till maturity.

However, people are becoming increasingly conscious of the need to preserve the trees and to grow more trees. Environmentalists like Dr Salim Ali and Sunderlal Bahuguna have done a great deal to educate the masses about the value of trees.

We certainly do not want the coming generation to miss the flora and fauna of our country. They may not then see the wonderful sight of butterflies flirting from flower to flower, for there may no longer be trees having lovely, bright flowers.

Trees are our friends, our best friends. We are not always aware of either their presence or their use. We tend to take them for granted. We are often not very kind to them.

Essay on “My Best Friend” Complete Essay for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

My Best Friend

Essay No. 01

Good friends are very rare in these fast-changing days. Old values have gone and new ones have not yet come. Still, one must have a friend one can confide in. I am lucky to have a number of friends. I love has one of them. Rahul is my best friend. I am really proud of him. He comes from a respectable family. His father is a landlord. We are class fellows. He is one of the best students in our class. He understands things quickly.  He is bright and active. He is very punctual. He is obedient and respectful. He is soft-spoken. He is good at studying. He is not a bookworm. He reads extra books and is not confined to his textbooks. He takes interest in current affairs and often discusses with me important issues of the day. His approach is direct but impartial. He is tolerant, broadminded, and cooperative. He is fond of visiting restaurants and he takes his lunch outside on Sundays. He is also fond of seeing movies in the theater. Sometimes, he compels me to accompany him even though I have seen that particular movie. In fact, nobody is absolutely free from shortcomings. I allow him to enjoy such liberties and he does not cross the limit. He is a good player in badminton but he has never played any university match.  He is always open to arguments. He is a well-mannered boy. I am really proud of him.

Essay No. 02

Man is a social being and by instinct seeks the companionship of others. In our journey through life, we meet countless people, but with everyone, we do not make friends. This is because the essential condition of friendship is the affinity of the mind, tastes, and temperament. The few in who we discover the affinity, we make friends with and they carve out an abiding place in our hearts.

Rahul is my best friend. He is my classmate and neighbour. He has a lovable character, charming personality, and enviable manners. He is the son of a doctor. His mother is also a doctor and as such he has been brought up in a very healthy environment. He is the single child of his parents and hence the apple of their eye. Right from our early childhood, we played together and enjoyed each other’s company. I cannot recollect my first meeting with Rahul. He is most obedient to his parents and does not like to make them angry in any case.

Rahul is a gem in his studies. He is always first in our class. All the teachers are proud of his abilities as there is not a single question that he cannot answer or a single sum which he is not able to solve. He is a pastmaster of English language. He speaks very fluently and writes a good hand. He is a top-class debater and can speak on every topic with full confidence. He won many prizes in debates, competitions, and quiz programmes.

Rahul has one more quality worth the name. he has a high taste for music and singing. He knows by heart almost all the filmi and on-filmi songs. He does not like pop songs. Gazals are his favourite field. He can imitate the Gazals sung by Mahdi Hassan, Gulam Ali, and Jagjit Singh. He tried to write his own Gazals also and sing them.

Rahul is not without weakness. He does not take part in any games and sports. he never visits the playground. I have never seen him with a football, cricket bat, or hockey in his hand. He says it is not his field. He goes for long walks in the mornings but is not a sportsman. His ambition in life is to become a teacher. He wants to be a real teacher, a benefactor of students, and a storehouse of knowledge and ability and I am sure his ambition will be fulfilled someday.

I am proud of my friend and try to follow his footsteps in every field. I wish that our friendship should last forever because it is very difficult to find a real friend.

Essay No. 03

Everyone needs a best friend in life. We need someone whom we can trust. A best friend should be there for us all the time, no matter what the situation may be. In my case, I have known my best friend for my entire life. My best friend happens to be my younger sister, Sunita. She is only thirteen months younger than I am, so we are very close. She has taught me how to trust people, how to help me with my problems, and how to open up as an individual. I always had a hard time learning how to trust people. The one person I found that I could trust with everything was my sister Sunita. I could always go to her and let her know if I had done something wrong. She would assure me that she would not tell anyone if I didn’t want her to. I knew all my secrets would be safe with her and that nobody would find out unless I told them.

Problem-solving was another thing that Sunita could help me with. Whenever I had a problem that I couldn’t quite work out myself, I went to her. Whether it had to do with boys, school work, sports, or even just things running through my mind, she always solved my problems. It’s like she knew all the answers to all my questions. She is a wonderful person to go to if you need advice or some kind of guidance in life. I was always a shy individual. I hardly ever spoke up or let myself be recognized. This is where my sister came and let me out of my shell. She made me go up to random people and just strike up a conversation with them. Sometimes that was hard and a little embarrassing, but in the end it ended up helping me. She showed me how to be more outgoing and to voice my opinion when it was necessary. When I become comfortable around a group of people, I usually tend to talk a lot more. I start up conversations and make many jokes. I like to see people have a good time, and when others are laughing, I usually am too. As a result of this, I became more social in school and seem to have a more enjoyable time at my job. Being a more outgoing person helped me to feel better about myself and more confident when I was around other people. It allowed me to open up and get to know a lot of people I had once overlooked as potential friends. Sunita and I do everything together. We went to all the high school football games, ran track, and went to the movies together. We had a dance class with each other and the teacher wanted to split us up in case of any fighting that may have occurred. That wasn’t a problem for us. Sunita and I even worked for a while together at Applebee’s. Most people couldn’t believe how well we got along, considering we were sisters. We even started going to church together and went on retreats. If you saw one of us, usually the other would be right behind.

I was disappointed that she wasn’t going to be with me anymore when I completed my school, but I was also happy for her because I knew she would be happy. We are four hours away from each other today. Even though we talk every day, we are both making new friends and changing our lives one day at a time. I know that I can call her anytime and she will be there for me. To this day, she is my best friend in the entire world. She is always there for me no matter what the reason may be. If it weren’t for Sunita, I don’t even know where I would be today. It is important that everyone has someone who they can trust and count on in life. She is my best friend who has molded me into the person I am today.

Essay No. 04

It is very important for everybody to have some good friends in life.

I have a number of friends. Some of them are just fair-weather friends. A few are good friends. But my best friend is Rakesh.

Rakesh is my next-door neighbour also. We go to school together. We read in the same class and we sit on the same bench. We study and play together.

He is a good speaker also. He takes part in debates, declamation and paper reading contests, and other extra-curricular activities.

I am not so good at my studies. So, he helps me in my studies. He explains to me the solution of knotty sums which I cannot follow in the class.

Rakesh believes in high character and discipline. He respects all his teachers, parents, and elders. He is never noisy or rowdy. He goes to school regularly and punctually.

He is also very particular about his health. He gets up early in the morning and goes out for a walk. He takes light exercise regularly. He never tells a lie. He believes in simple living and high thinking. He is very particular about cleanliness.

Essay No. 05

A friend is a person whom one likes, respects, and meets often, friend-ship is the feeling that joins the hearts of two friends. Friendship is based on true love. A true friend is selfless. He helps his friend in the time of need. He advises him to act right. But it is very difficult to find a true friend in the world.

Man is a social being. He cannot live alone. He chooses someone of his choice. He may pass his leisure time with him. He will share his joys and sorrows with him. Thus a true friend is the best source of happiness. But such a friend cannot be had easily. According to Mahatma Gandhi, “Friendship cannot be bought with bribery.”

But it is not easy to make friends. A man must possess some qualities. First, he must trust his friend. Only then he can open himself up to him. Secondly, a friend should not always find fault with his friend. Thirdly, real friendship is possible between the equals. At the same time, no side should try to make friends as a matter of gain. Finally, a friend must be free from jealousy. He should be above suspicion about his friends. But there should be sweet air of love and goodwill between them. Only then friendship may be of great value. ‘What a precious thing true friendship says Rabindranath Tagore.

To make friends is a science; to keep friends is an art. Friendship will end if the friends are not kind and tolerant to each other. The aim of friendship must be to serve more than to be served. He must try to give more than he receives. This process of giving and taking should be a selfless process.

Besides, we must know how to differentiate a true friend from a false one. A false friend makes a friendship with selfish ends. But such friendship does not last long. A false friend always tries to take advantage of friendship. Be careful of such a false friend. Shakespeare says:

“A friend is need is a friend indeed” And at one place he says: “Words are easy like the wind faithful friends are hard to find.”

I have many friends, but I like Rajeev most. He is my best friend. He is a student of the 11th class. He belongs to a good family. His father is a college teacher. His mother, too, is educated. His brother and sister are also good students. Rajeev is the eldest child of his parents. So, he is loved and respected most.

Rajeev has several qualities. He loves me very much. He obeys his elders. lie respects his teachers. Teachers also love him. Rajeev goes to his class in time. He is seldom late or absent. the lie is very hard-working. He always stands first in our class. He is bright. He does very well in all the subjects.

Rajeev is a boy of good character. He is fair and tall. He is about 17. He never likes to tell lies. He never believes in cheating people. He is honest and fair. He is considerate. He does good to all. He never expects returns for what he does to others. He always looks happy and cheerful. He is kind and gentle.

On the playground, we play games together. We play hockey, football, and basketball. Rajeev is good at badminton. But he is still better in athletics. He went to Delhi to participate in the All India Athletic meet. He stood second in the high jump. He has set up a new record in the high jump in our school by beating all the previous records of 17 years.

I am fortunate to have a friend like Rajeev. He wants to become a college teacher or an I.A.S. officer. Who knows God will grant his wish one day! And then I shall be the happiest man on earth. I am proud of my friend.

Essay No. 07

Friends should be fewer but they should be very sincere. But it is very difficult to find sincere friends. Such people cannot be found everywhere. If you have got enough money to spend on your friends, you may have plenty of friends. If you are a poor man, very few people care for you.

There are many well-wishers of mine in the world. But I do not find them suitable to befriend. Most of them are selfish people. If I ask them of making some favour to me, they do not stand by me.

A sincere friend can be tested in times of adversity. In times of prosperity, there are many friends, but in times of adversity, only a few people are left who stand by us. Such people are fit to be called as friends. Most of the people are very selfish and they know how to grind their own axe. They have no sympathy with you. They simply want to exploit you. Therefore, we have to search for good friends.

I have got only four friends who have proved themselves as worthy of my friends while tested well in times of adversity. But Shri Govind Lal is the sincerest person. Once I was travelling in the bus and unfortunately, my pocket was picked. He was with me. He caught the pick-pocket and snatched the purse from him and handed it over to me. He took him to the Police Station and thus saved my life and money. Since that day we have been close friends. He is a rich man’s son. His father has got a big factory. But he is a bold, plain-speaking, and truthful person.

I do not like lying or liars. Shri Govind Lal is a truth-loving fellow. He does not like lying. Luckily, he is my classmate also.

He is weak in his studies and I help him every day in the evening. He goes out for a walk with me and tells me strange stories. He visits my house and my mother treats him as her own son.

Shri Govind Lal is regular in his studies, but he needs my help. I know that he is very good at heart and therefore I, too, help him. I often go to his house and sit with him for hours together.

His house is in a bungalow. It has got a small orchard. We sit under the shady trees and study for hours. We are surrounded by flower plants. There is a very good atmosphere for studies. Only on holidays we sit and study together. My friend hates smoking and drinking. He hates lying. He hates all sorts of showmanship. He is sincere and good at heart. He has no envy against anyone. Again, he is a very funny type of person. He cuts jokes and we laugh our time away.

Do you well know that such friends are very rare? Believe me, I am lucky to have such a rare friend. I shall advise you all to test your friends in times of adversity. In times of adversity, many persons slip away. Only the sincerest persons help you and do not leave you. Only when a friend has been tested, he may be called a true friend.

You can’t befriend the whole world. Choose only a few persons but all those must have the above qualities. Then your friendship will last longer.

Essay on “My Best Friend”

It is said a friend in need is a friend indeed. An ideal friend possesses all the qualities of head and heart. It is easy to befriend many but difficult to choose good friends. God gives us relatives by virtue of being born in a family, but friends we can choose.

Rahul is my best friend. He has a personality and manners that never fail to make an impression on others. His presence in a company always makes it lively. Straightforward and outspoken, he never feels shy in the company of his seniors. He respects his elders and is affectionate and kind to the youngsters. Despite his religious bent of mind and high thinking Rahul always keeps himself trim by wearing decent clothes. He never comes to the school without a tie around his neck. He says that a physically smart person is always mentally smart. His dress shows how much care he takes in creating a total effect of his personality. There is nothing in his appearance which may give even the slightest feeling of his indifference and carelessness. He has a disciplined way of leading his life. I am proud of my friend. He is intelligent in his studies. All the students of his class look forward to him for guidance. He also is in the good books of the teachers. He has taken up N. C. C. in the school. He was declared as the best cadet in the zone. He speaks English fluently. He is also very good at writing. He has a good style of his own. Besides, he is a good thinker. Even the teachers sometimes call for his opinions in school matters. He always calls a spade a spade. All the things have endeared him to all of us.

“A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out.”

' src=

A real friend is someone you fight with, someone who cares for you someone who is there for you in times of need. We should never reject our friends because of silly fights. My best friend is Joylyn people say she is different and weird but she is actually really cool to hang out with. People may judge but we all need friends in life. My best friend is not like those who just sulk but she is the one who encourages me to forgive and forget. She is really nice, even if people judge her she just ignores and deals with it.

Tragically, we abuse their liberality by our covetousness, absent a lot of thought of the repercussions of our activities. Our codependence with trees is really uneven. We rely upon trees; they don’t rely upon us. Trees have become a vital part of our lives.
