The journey towards the adoption of the Constitution began soon after India gained independence on August 15, 1947. A committee was established, and on August 29, 1947, a Constituent Assembly was convened with the task of writing a new Constitution for the country. B.R. Ambedkar was appointed as the leader of this group, and over the course of two years, 11 months, and 18 days, the Constitution was drafted.

On January 26, 1950, the Constitution was officially proclaimed. This day holds a special significance as it is also the day when the proclamation of Poorna Swaraj was made in 1930 and Jawaharlal Nehru was elected as the leader of the Indian National Congress.

While Independence Day is celebrated on August 15, the Indian National Congress had already celebrated it on the same day in 1930, before India officially gained independence in 1947. Therefore, August 15th is observed as Independence Day, and January 26th is celebrated as Republic Day.

During Republic Day celebrations, patriotism and love for our nation are at the forefront. The main celebration takes place in the capital, New Delhi, with a grand parade and the President of India hoisting the national flag and giving a speech. People across the country participate in cultural programs and patriotic events to celebrate this day.

As we know the Indian constitution was adhered to on 26 Jan 1950 with a certain set of rules and regulations. Today we have gathered here to celebrate the victory of Republic Day and in the memory of great men like Rajendra Prasad, Subhash Chandra Bosh, and Mahatma Gandhi.

The Constitution of India is the longest-written constitution in the world. The time duration taken to draft the Indian constitution was 2 years, 11 months, and 11 days. It was drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to establish the structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions, and set out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens.

Republic Day is a celebration of our unity in diversity. India has different cultures, languages, religions, and traditions. Our tricolor flag symbolizes this unity – the saffron color signifies strength and courage, the white middle band indicates peace and truth with the Dharma Chakra, and the green shows the fertility, growth, and auspiciousness of our land.

As we celebrate this day, let us also acknowledge the progress India has made over the years. Our advancements in technology, medicine, science, and space exploration have put us on the world map.

As we know on Republic Day, The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has been invited to attend India’s Republic Day celebrations. We have started achieving new heights again. From Chandrayaan 2 to the IT sector, India made significant growth.

Good morning to all. My name is…… I read in class….. As we all know that we have gathered here on the very special occasion of our nation called as Republic Day of India. I would like to narrate a Republic Day speech in front of you. First of all I would like to say a lot of thank to my class teacher as just because of her I have got such a wonderful opportunity in my school to come on this stage and speak something about my beloved country on its great occasion of Republic day.

India is a self-governing country since 15 th of August 1947. India got independence from the British rule on 15 th of August in 1947 which we celebrate as Independence Day, However, on 26 th of January since 1950 we celebrate as Republic Day. The Constitution of India came into force on 26 th of January in 1950, so we celebrate this day as the Republic Day every year. This year in 2016, we are celebrating 75 th republic day of India.

Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only public has rights to elect their representatives as political leader to lead the country in right direction. So, India is a Republic country where public elects its leaders as a president, prime minister , etc. Our Great Indian freedom fighters have struggled a lot to the “Purna Swaraj” in India. They did so that their future generations may live without struggle and led country ahead.

The name of our great Indian leaders and freedom fighters are Mahatma Gandhi , Bhagat Singh , Chandra Shekher Ajad, Lala Lajpath Rai , Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel, Lal bahadur Shastri , etc. They fought continuously against the British rule to make India a free country. We can never forget their sacrifices towards our country. We should remember them on such great occasions and salute them. It has become possible just because of them that we can think from our own mind and live freely in our nation without anyone’s force.

Our first Indian President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who said that, “We find the whole of this vast land brought together under the jurisdiction of one constitution and one union which takes over responsibility for the welfare of more than 320 million men and women inhabit it”.

How shame to say that still we are fighting with crime, corruption and violence (in the form of terrorist, rape, theft, riots, strikes, etc) in our country. Again, there is a need to get together to save our country from such slavery as it is pulling our nation back from going to its main stream of development and progress. We should be aware of our social issues like Poverty , unemployment, illiteracy, global warming , inequality, etc in order to solve them to go ahead.

Dr. Abdul Kalam has said that “If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the Father, the Mother and the Teacher”. As a citizen of the country we should think seriously about it and do all possible efforts to lead our nation.

I would like to say good morning to My Respected Principal, Sir, Madam and my dear colleagues. As we all know that we get together here to celebrate 75 th Republic Day of our nation. This is very auspicious occasion for all of us. Since 1950, we are celebrating Republic Day every year with lots of joy and happiness. Before starting the celebration, our chief guest of the Republic Day hoists the national flag of India . Then we all stand up and sing our Indian national anthem which is a symbol unity and peace in India. Our National Anthem is written by the great poet Rabindranath Tagore .

Our national flag has three colors and a wheel in the center with 24 equal sticks. All the three colors of our Indian National Flag have some meaning. Top saffron colour of our flag denotes the strength and courage of our country. The middle white colour indicates peace however lower green colour indicates the growth and prosperity. There is a navy blue wheel in the center having 24 equal spokes indicating Dharma Chakra of the great king Ashoka .

We celebrate republic day on 26 January as the Indian constitution came into force at this day in 1950. At republic day celebration, a big arrangement takes place by the government of India in New Delhi at Rajpath in front of the India Gate.

Every year, a chief guest (prime minister of other country) is invited to fulfill the purpose of saying “Atithi Devo Bhava” as well as enhance the glory of the occasion. Indian army do republic day parade and take salute of the National Flag. There is also a big exhibition of the Indian culture and tradition takes place by the different Indian states to show the Unity in Diversity in India.

I would like to say good morning to our respected Principal, my teachers, my seniors and colleagues. Let me let you know something about this special occasion. Today we are celebrating 75th republic day of our nation. It was started celebrating since 1950, two and half years later to the Independence of India in 1947. We celebrate it every year on 26th of January as our constitution came into effect on the same day. After getting independence from the British rule in 1947, India was not a self-ruled country means a sovereign state. India became a self-governing country when its constitution came into effect in 1950.

India is a republic country which has no any king or queen to rule it however public of this country is the ruler. Every one of us living in this country has equal rights, no one can be a president, chief minister or prime minister without voting of us. We have the right to choose our best Prime Minister or other leaders to lead this country in the right direction. Our leaders should be capable enough to think in the favor of our country. He should think equally about every states, villages and cities of the country so that India can be a well developed country without any discrimination of race, religion, poor, rich, high class, lower class, middle class, illiteracy, etc.

Our leader should have dominating property in the favor of country so that each and every official may follow all the rules and regulations in correct way. Every official should follow the Indian rules and regulations in order to make this country a corruption free country. Only a corruption free India would really and truly mean a country with “Unity in Diversity”.

Our leaders should not understand them a special person, as they are one from us and have been selected according to their capability to lead the country. They have been selected by us to serve their truthful services to the India for a limited time period. So, there should not be any confusion between their own ego and authority and position.

As being an Indian citizen, we too are fully responsible about our country. We should make ourselves up-to-date, read news and be completely aware of what are going on in our country, what are going on wrong or right, what are our leaders doing and firstly what we are doing for our country. Earlier, India was a slave country under British rule which was made independent after several years of struggle by the sacrifices of thousands of lives of our freedom fighters. So, we should not let go easily their all priceless sacrifices and make this country a slave country again under corruption, illiteracy, inequality and other social discrimination. Today is the best day when we should take an oath to preserve our country’s real meaning, position, status and most importantly culture of humanity.

Good morning to the Excellencies, respected Principal sir, sir, madam, my seniors and my dear colleagues. My name is…… I study in class….. I would like to speech on this great annual occasion of Indian Republic Day. First of all, I would like to say a big thank to my class teacher for giving me such a great opportunity to speech here on the Republic day of India. My dear friends, we have gathered here to celebrate this special occasion of our nation. We celebrate republic day on 26 January annually to commemorate the day when Indian constitution came into force and India was declared as republic country.

I am very proud to be the citizen of India. At this day, we unfurl the National Flag of India and sing the National Anthem to show our heartily respect for our republic country. It is celebrated all over the country at schools, colleges, universities, educational institutions, banks and many more places. It was 26 January, 1950 when Indian National Constitution came into force. The period from 1947 to 1950 was transition period and King George VI became the head of state whereas Lord Mountbatten and C. Rajagopalachari became the Governors-General of India.

The Government of India Act (1935) was replaced as the governing document of India after the enforcement of Indian Constitution in 1950 on 26 January. The Constitution of India was adopted on 26 th of November in 1949 by the by Indian Constituent Assembly however implemented later in 1950 with a democratic government system declaring the country as independent republic. 26 January was especially selected because on the same day in 1930 Indian National Congress had declared Indian Independence means Purna Swaraj. Rajendra Prasad became the first President of Republic India in 1950 after the adoption of Constitution.

A grand parade by the Indian army (from all three services) is organized in the national capital (New Delhi) as well as state capitals of the country. The parade of the national capital starts from the Raisina Hill (near to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the residential place of Indian President) and ends to the past India Gate along with the Rajpath. Together with the Indian army, states of country also take part in the parade (decked with finery and official decorations) to show their culture and tradition.

At this day, our country follows the tradition of “Atithi Devo Bhava” by inviting a chief guest (PM, President or King from another country) on 26 January. President of India, who is the Commander in Chief of Indian army, takes the salute by the Indian Armed Forces . The Prime Minister of India gives a floral tribute to the sacrificed Indian soldiers at the Amar Javan Jyoti, India Gate . The celebration of republic day continues by 29 th of January which ends after the beating retreat ceremony. At this day, every Indian shows his/her respect and Pride to the National Constitution.

Good morning to the respected Principal sir, sir, madam, my seniors and my dear friends. My name is…… I study in class….. I would like to speech in front of you on this Republic Day. I am very grateful to my class teacher for giving me such a great opportunity to recite a speech on republic day of India. My dear friends, we celebrate this national event every year to remember and pay respect to the Indian constitution.

It is celebrated in all the schools and colleges by the students and teachers however also celebrated at government offices and other institutions of the states all over the country. A main celebration takes place in the national capital, New Delhi, at Rajpath, Indian Gate before to the President of India and chief guest from another country. A grand ceremonial parade is organized at the Rajpath in order to perform tribute to India.

At this day, the Constitution of India came into force in 1950 however, was adopted on 26 November 1949 by the Constituent Assembly. On 26 January, India was declared Purna Swaraj by the Indian National Congress in 1930 that’s why 26 January was chosen to bring Indian Constitution into force.

After its enforcement the Union of India officially became contemporary Republic of India which had replaced the Government of India Act 1935 to fundamental governing document. Our country was declared a sovereign, secular, socialist, and democratic republic by the Constitution. Our constitution assures the citizens of India about justice, liberty, and equality among them.

Our Indian Constitution was drafted by the Constituent Assembly (389 members). It took around three years (actually two years, eleven months and eighteen days) to be written. A Drafting Committee was set up by the Constituent Assembly on 29 th of August in 1947 to draft the Constitution under the Chairmanship of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar .

Some important figures of the drafting committee were Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, Jawaharlal Nehru , Ganesh Vasudev Mavalankar, C. Rajagopalachari, Sanjay Phakey, Balwantrai Mehta, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel , Kanaiyalal Munshi, Rajendra Prasad, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Nalini Ranjan Ghosh, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, and Sandipkumar Patel. More than 30 members of the total drafting committee were from scheduled class. Some important women members of the committee were Sarojini Naidu , Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, Durgabai Deshmukh, Hansa Mehta, and Vijayalakshmi Pandit. Constitution of India gives rights to its citizens to select their own government.

India got independence in 1947 on 15 August however became a Sovereign, Democratic and Republic state after adoption of its Constitution. In the National capital, a salute of 21 guns is given to the Indian National Flag and then National Anthem is sung. A huge parade by the Indian armed forces is held in front of the President of India and chief guest. School students also participate in the parade to show their creativity in the form of dance and songs. It also includes state wise jhanki on the Rajpath to display the unity in diversity in India.

Greetings to all of you on 75 th Republic Day of India! This year we are celebrating our 75 th Republic Day on 26 th January and also our transition from a colonial governed state to an independent Republic.

As we all know that India gained independence on 15 th August 1947, but we remained as dominion status under the British, until 26 th January 1950, when the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly; marking India’s emergence as a fully Independent, Democratic and Republic Nation.

The freedom and rights that we enjoy today as the citizens of India, not to mention this Democratic setup, we owe it all to our Constitution and to the people who created it. They could have easily rested their guards and enjoyed the fruits of independence; instead they took the laborious and painful task of formulating a Constitution for India. Because they had a vision! They had a vision of India where no discrimination is made among its people on the basis of caste, religion, ethnicity etc; where equal opportunity is provided to all irrespective of caste, region or gender; where freedom of religion, expression, education are provided to the citizens.

At the apex of the idea was a government of the people, for the people and by the people; resting the ultimate power in the hands of people of India. With this vision at heart the noble souls framed the Constitution of India; instead of resting in the joys of independence.

The great men and women who framed our Constitution had a great foresight and well understood the significance of rule of law for peaceful and prosperous existence.

It is very important for us to understand the meaning and values of being a Republic. Being a Republic means having an elected form of government, elected by the people through a Democratic setup. A government where chosen representatives could exercise their powers according to the rule of law as enshrined in the Constitution. People have the power to overthrow the government on the charges of non performance or corruption.

In the Republic of India, people are its true stakeholders and the pillars. We all are the pillars of Republic of India in our own capacities. Soldier who defends the Republic of India is a pillar; mothers nurture the pillars of Republic; fathers who look for the needs of the Republic; doctors, engineers, lawyers who tend to our Republic in their own ways; teachers who instill good values into our Republic; officers who maintain law and order or dispense their public duties for the Republic; ministers and elected representatives who formulate the policies for the Republic; even the sweeper who keeps our republic clean is a pillar of the Republic of India.

I may have missed mentioning many, but the bottom line is that every citizen of India is a pillar on which the legacy of Republic of India stands.

We all must together take the legacy of India forward, cherishing our Republican and Democratic values, moving on the path of progress and prosperity. Moving a huge nation on the path to progress and prosperity is indeed a big project. It will require an effort from each one of us; which is only possible when we stay united and admire the principles of Republican and Democratic setup.

A Nation will be able to prosper and grow only when its people are happy and content. To be happy we need to have rights, powers, equal opportunities, justice, liberty and fraternity. These Rights are guaranteed by the Constitution of India, whose inception we celebrate as Republic Day.

It is therefore Ladies and Gentlemen, not only a gazetted holiday but also a day to admire the principles of Republic and thank the men and women who framed our Constitution. Take a day off from your daily routine to teach your children the significance of Constitution and the principles of Democracy and Republic.

Celebrate the Republic Day with Nationalism at heart and in your conduct too. Acknowledge the fact that we all are equal irrespective of our caste, creed, religion, gender, ethnicity, language spoken or financial status. Instill the same values into our children. Remember, they too are the pillars of the Republic of India and the ones to whom we will be later handing the Nation’s legacy.

A very warm good morning to one and all present here. I am Rahul, a student of Class 8. I am here to present a speech on the auspicious occasion of 26 January Republic Day. I am glad as I am chosen to present this speech and welcome everyone to this occasion. Today, India celebrates its 75th Republic day. On this day, I on behalf of the school committee, welcome our honourable chief guest. I would like to extend a warm welcome and heartfelt greetings to our honourable principal, vice-principal, respected teachers, and my dear schoolmates. We all have gathered here today to celebrate India Republic Day 2024 and commemorate India’s 75 years of democracy.

I have got this wonderful opportunity to come on the stage and deliver the welcome occasion speech. I would like to talk about my beloved country on this occasion of Republic Day and how is Republic Day celebrated in India. We all must know India celebrates Republic Day on 26 January as the Constitution of India came into existence on this day in 1950. This not only made us a republic but also made the people of India the highest authority in the country.

Our freedom fighters had struggled and sacrificed their lives so that the future of India is not under slavery. Freedom strugglers like Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Chandra Shekhar Azad, and many more must be remembered. We must pay tribute to them on today’s occasion.

India won Independence on August 15th, 1947. About 200 years of British rule came to an end on this day. Even after independence, India was facing Hindu-Muslim riots and corruption. It was the duty of each member of free India to return the country to its glory. After rigorous efforts, the constitution was finally implemented in a full-fledged manner on January 26, 1950. The credit for drafting the Indian constitution goes to B.R. Ambedkar. He was a member of the Constituent Drafting Committee who is considered the chief architect of the constitution of India. 26 January Republic Day is celebrated as colourfully organized cultural events all over the country. Every citizen of India is filled with pride and happiness on the occasion. They play patriotic songs and enjoy sweet dishes to mark the celebrations.

India’s constitution is considered one of the best in the world. India is the largest democracy. However, India is still pulled back by crime, corruption, violence, terrorism, etc. After so many years of being a republic nation, India is still under the captivity of such nation-wide issues. As true citizens of the country, our responsibility is to work towards the development of the country and protect our land as true patriots!

The parades are organized at the Rajpath which takes place as a tribute to India and its rich culture. We are all gathered here to celebrate the achievement of the finest democracy in the world. This day reminds us of our freedom struggle and how we received ‘Purn Swaraj’ or complete independence. Today, we can enjoy many rights and privileges as a citizen of this country. Some of these rights are the right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion. Cultural and educational rights, etc. However, the true attainment of a republic is a consequence of the long struggles of our freedom fighters. Many of us may recall this day as a festival and celebrate it in schools by participating in cultural programs and other activities. For a few of us, this is the day we get up to watch the Republic Day parade. The military parade starts from Vijay Chowk and culminates at the Red Fort in the national capital i.e. Delhi. The weapons and the army’s equipment in the parade reflect the power of our armed forces. 

On this day, awards and medals of bravery are also given to the armed forces and to civilians too. The main attraction for the bravery awards is the young kids who are awarded by the prime minister for showing ultimate bravery.  When the helicopters of the armed forces fly past the parade area, and shower rose petals on the audience, everyone feels special. The program ends with the national anthem. Whether you are at home or watching the parade personally, you get up to give respect to the national anthem. It’s a day that makes us think beyond caste, creed, religion, state, language, and colour, and we all feel the same emotion of loving our country.

Respected Principal, Teachers, and all my dear friends.

Today, I am standing in front of you to deliver a speech on Republic Day. Before moving forward, I would like to wish all of you who are present here a Happy Republic Day.

I was so enthralled when my class teacher told me a few days back that you have been selected to deliver a speech on the 26 th of January. I am excited but a bit nervous also because I never gave a speech earlier in my school life.

As you all know, today we have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious day of Republic Day, which we also know as “Gantantra Divas”, and as we all know, on this day in 1950, our full constitution came into effect. However, it was adopted on the 26th of November 1949 under the chairmanship of our beloved Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and we all know him as the father of the Indian Constitution; he was one of the greatest leaders of modern India at that time.

It’s a Gazetted holiday, but schools remain open to organize different functions in their school just as we are doing. Students perform several cultural activities and sing patriotic songs to remember our freedom fighters and celebrate the big day.

Our principal hoists the national flag; similarly, the president of India hoists the flag at Rajpath, and every year, they invite special chief guests from different countries.

On the eve of Republic Day, our president gave a speech in the name of the Nation.

The president of India gave some important awards like Ashoka Chakra and Kirti Chakra to the soldiers of India and bravery awards to the citizens of India.

Every school, college, and government office celebrates this day with zeal and enthusiasm.

But the biggest celebration is observed at the Rajpath in New Delhi. Where thousands of people gathered to watch the RDC parade. Chief guests from different world countries are invited to witness the celebration every year. The parade’s main attraction is the tableau of the selected states through which they showcase the culture and tradition of their states. The preparation for this parade started at least six months before Republic Day. Artists and students from different parts of the country participate in this celebration to make it memorable and grand.

But when our soldiers came with their battalion and all of their arms and ammunition in the parade, the audience got goosebumps and fill pride at the same time.

And at last, when our Air Force fighter pilots came with their jets and created our national flag tricolour in the sky, it became such a proud moment for every Indian.

It’s the day you can hear patriotic songs in every nook and corner of our street, and everyone celebrates this day with brotherhood and distributing sweets.

When our constitution came into effect, we had some common issues and still today, we are also facing some common issues like cleanliness, education, unemployment, and many others to resolve their government also launched some schemes like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan , Beti padhao Beti Bachao , skill India, make in India and many more but we cannot depend fully on the shoulders of our government we need to do something for our country and we all must take a step to make a better and stronger Nation.

We must keep the ideas that were mentioned in the constitution of India, which are justice for everyone, equality, liberty, fraternity, and sovereignty. We should not forget the ideas of our Gandhi Bapu, and we need to implement them in our lives to make our nation strong.

So let’s take a pledge that we all will maintain peace and harmony and must remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters so that we can value the freedom which we got just because of their sacrifices. Before I conclude my speech, I would like to say, “Patriotism is just like charity; it must begin at home.”

On this occasion of Republic Day, I would like to thank my class teacher for allowing me to speak about Republic Day.  Today, we are all gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of our nation.

On 26 th January 1950, our country got its constitution. We got our independence on 15 th August 1947 , but before 26th January 1950, we followed the British laws and rules. Since 26th January 1950, we have had our own rules and laws that are implemented for all Indians.    

Our constitution has come into existence after many debates and amendments. On 26 November 1949, the drafting committee of the constitution was formed and Dr B. R. Ambedkar was appointed chairperson of the committee. After a debate in both houses, the constitution came into existence, and we became a republic country. A republic means that the country’s citizens hold supreme power to elect representatives. The Constitution gives all of us the same rights despite differences in religion, colour, or language.

A grand celebration of Republic day is held in the Capital of India, Delhi. On this day, ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath in the presence of the President. The celebration starts at the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President of India unfurled the national flag and addressed the nation with a Republic Day speech. The prestigious awards of the country are also given to martyrs and heroes of the army and civilians on this day.

अंत में 15 अगस्त 1947 को भारत को आज़ादी मिली और उसके  ढाई साल बाद 26 जनवरी 1950 को भारत डेमोक्रेटिक रिपब्लिक बना. यह दिन इसलिए अधिक महत्वपूर्ण हैं क्यूंकि 26 जनवरी 1950 से पहले भारतीय अंगेजों के बनाये हुए कानून को मानने के लिए विवश थे.

गणतंत्र का अर्थ है देश में रहने वाले लोगों को अपने प्रतिनिधियों को राजनीतिक नेता के रूप में चुनने का अधिकार, जोकि भारतीय सविंधान के अनुसार भारत की जनता के पास हैं.

भारत के सविंधान में] सभी नागरिकों के मूल कर्तव्यों, नियम और कानून का उल्लेख है. भारत में विविधता में एकता दिखाने के लिए विभिन्न राज्यों द्वारा भारतीय संस्कृति और परंपरा का एक बड़ा प्रदर्शन इस दिन किया जाता है. गणतंत्र दिवस की परेड में भारतीय सेना का शक्ति प्रदर्शन देश के लोगों को सुरक्षित होने का आश्वासन देता हैं.

Our constitution has given us a few responsibilities and a few rights, too. As both rights and responsibilities come together, we are expected to fulfil the responsibility as a citizen first before claiming our rights. You have the right to get an education, but you also carry the responsibility to be an obedient student.

Many top leaders play a prominent role in the preparation of the constitution of India. Dr B. R. Ambedkar was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee. At that time, when India had many social issues like casteism and others, the constitution gave the right to equality. When the country was facing riots and witnessed the partition based on religion our constitution-makers chose to make India a republic and democratic country. We all are proud of the equality we get here, and it’s given to us by our constitution. So, happy Republic Day! Celebrate this day as a festival because, on this day, India became a republic country.

Trump in Arizona: Former president predicts apocalyptic future for America if not elected

Former President Donald Trump predicted an apocalyptic future for America if he isn’t returned to office during a speech that included scorn for President Joe Biden and an impromptu kiss for former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Trump's characteristically meandering comments on Thursday delighted thousands of supporters at his first political rally since his conviction on 34 felony charges in New York last week. It was his first trip to Arizona since October 2022.

Trump’s remarks preceded questions from the crowd at a time when many polls show Trump leading national polls and in Arizona, though the fallout of his conviction is still being gauged.

“Joe Biden is the worst president in history,” Trump said to cheers. “Jimmy Carter is a brilliant president by comparison.”

By turns, Trump bragged of the nation’s border security on his watch and invoked bloodshed involving immigrants on Biden’s. Trump called his New York trial a “rigged” case and said his only crime was winning the 2016 election.

He promised a wholesale shift of government resources to combating illegal immigration and drug cartels if he returns to office.

“We will put the cartels out of business, and I will make clear to every federal department and agency that we must use any and all resources to stop this invasion of our country, including moving thousands of troops if necessary currently stationed overseas to our own borders,” he said.

“We protect other countries, but we don’t protect our own country.”

Early in Trump’s remarks, the speech took an extended detour when Trump summoned Arpaio to the stage. The two men had an awkward embrace and Trump told the crowd he gave Arpaio a kiss.

During a brief turn at the podium, Arpaio gave an emotional thanks to Trump, who he said showed repeated interest and kindness to his wife.

The two men are linked by their shared interest in a border crackdown and with Trump’s unexpected rise to the White House in 2016. Arpaio was an early vocal supporter of Trump, and Trump gave his first presidential pardon to Arpaio, who was convicted of a misdemeanor for criminal contempt of court for his acknowledged disobedience of a judge's 2011 order that barred his traffic patrols that targeted immigrants.

Ahead of Trump’s town hall event at Dream City Church in north Phoenix, Arizona Democrats countered his visit with a news conference of their own.

Arizona Democratic Party Chair Yolanda Bejarano cast Trump as “unhinged” and a threat to U.S. democracy.

“We know that Donald Trump and MAGA Republicans see Arizona as a testing ground for election conspiracy theories and denialism,” Bejarano said. “This is ground zero of what has become our entire country’s struggle against misinformation and false claims.”

Biden’s campaign has reminded voters that Turning Point Action, the organization hosting Trump on Thursday, sent seven buses of students to Washington to participate in the “Stop the Steal” rally that preceded the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol.

None of the Democrats' concerns mattered inside the church, where Trump focused on his core issues of border security and an economy he claimed was better under him.

Trump said the nation has 18 million immigrants living in the country illegally, a figure far above the 12 million estimate usually presumed for the country and a condition he fully blames on Biden.

He cast Biden repeatedly as bumbling and demented, falling out of airplanes and helicopters in Trump’s telling.

“Illegal immigration is hurting Blacks and Hispanics more than anyone else,” Trump said. He underscored his improved standing with both demographics as a sign they are abandoning Biden and Democrats.

Kevin Munoz, a Biden campaign spokesperson, shot back that Trump derailed a bipartisan border security bill by encouraging House and Senate Republicans to reject it and deny Biden a political victory.

“Donald Trump is exactly what Americans hate about politicians. He’s the worst of Washington," Munoz said. "He’s in it for himself, not you. He single-handedly killed a bill the American people overwhelmingly supported, and is now crying the system is broken. It’s broken because of you, Don."

Trump didn’t address the hush money payments he paid to a porn star to conceal their sexual relationship ahead of the 2016 election. Instead, he blasted the judge overseeing the case.

“I just went through a rigged trial in New York, with a highly conflicted — and I mean highly conflicted — judge, where there was no crime. It was made up, fabricated stuff,” Trump said.

Trump kicked off his remarks by praising several Arizona congressmen and candidates in turn.

He lauded Republican U.S. Reps. Andy Biggs, Eli Crane, Paul Gosar and Debbie Lesko. He didn’t mention the state’s other two congressional Republicans, Juan Ciscomani and David Schweikert, both of whom could face difficult reelections.

Trump also praised two of his key endorsements: U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake and congressional candidate Abe Hamadeh.

He called Lake “a friend of mine” and a “really incredible woman” amid reports of a cooling of their friendship. While Lake was once rumored to be a possible vice presidential pick, Trump predicted she will be Arizona’s “next senator.”

Hamadeh, he said, is “doing a really terrific job” and repeated the baseless claim that Arizona’s 2022 elections were also “rigged.”

Trump’s visit was a town hall event hosted by Turning Point Action, an Arizona-based group that has promoted his false election claims and is leading a multistate get-out-the-vote effort in the 2024 election.

Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of the Turning Point-affiliated entities, ripped Democrats for prosecuting Trump and likened Democratic rule to the Nazi fascists the U.S. battled on the beaches of Normandy 80 years ago.

Kirk mentioned those who took part in the D-Day invasion in 1944.

“They were fighting against totalitarianism, fighting against a dictatorship,” Kirk said. “But 80 years later, if we are honest with ourselves, that very same totalitarianism is now here in this country.

“The very same dictatorship that our leaders were fighting, our greatest generation was fighting against, are now here in this country.”

Trump’s visit was part of a swing through Arizona, Nevada and California.

Arizona, a swing state in this year’s presidential election, has been roiled by Trump’s charges against the country’s political and legal institutions. 

Trump’s false claims about elections continue to fuel conspiracy theories in Arizona races up and down the ballot. A grand jury has indicted the Republicans who falsely certified that Trump won the 2020 presidential election — an accusation that Arizona Republicans dismiss as politically motivated.

Turning Point Action is taking the opportunity to mobilize supporters in a state where Republicans’ campaign field presence has lagged behind the Democrats’. 

The organization encouraged attendees to apply for a job with their multistate get-out-the-vote effort and offered an “expedited” interview process on-site at Thursday’s event.

Teresa Giudice 's third daughter celebrated her high school graduation on June 20, and The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member shared a look at the special day on her Instagram feed.

The teen wore a green and white gown for the graduation ceremony, in honor of her high school's colors. She customized her cap for the occasion, and she wore her hair down in loose curls. Milania wore a white dress underneath the gown, and she matched the look with a pair of white block heels with an open toe.

Before Milania accepted her diploma, she got ready at home. Teresa showed a video of Milania before the ceremony, and she was ever the supportive mama.  

"You look so beautiful," Teresa said as Milania was finishing up getting ready.

Teresa later posted videos on her Instagram Stories from the ceremony. She highlighted the moment when Milania's name was called, and when the graduates tossed their caps in the air to conclude the ceremony.

Afterwards, Teresa continued the celebrations for her daughter at home.

In another Instagram Story, Teresa shared a glimpse at the two-tiered cake she got for Milania, which featured a fondant graduation cap and a diploma on top. The message "Class of 2024" was also displayed on the confection. She also got Milania two bouquets of flowers.

"Congratulations, Milania," she said in the background of the video. "Love you. We love you."

Milania's dad, Joe Giudice , couldn't make it to the graduation in person, but he posted a video from the big day on his Instagram page. "Congratulations to my beautiful daughter wish I was there," he wrote in the caption of his post. "Good job[,] Milania[,] I’m so proud of you."

Now that Milania's high school journey is officially behind her, the RHONJ kid will now gear up for her freshman year at the University of Tampa .

Milania announced that she would be a Spartan back in February 2024 after previously confirming her acceptance to the school and to Sacred Heart University, Michigan State University, West Virginia University, Penn State University, Indiana University, the University of Alabama, and the University of South Carolina.

During an appearance on the Namaste B$tches podcast , Milania revealed why she picked the University of Tampa.

"Honestly, I have grown so much to hate the cold. I'm so over the cold weather," the New Jersey native said on the podcast. "I also didn't do the SAT, I didn't do the test. I am not a test taker, I do not like taking tests, I hate taking tests. And I knew I had good grades, so I was like, 'I'm just going to put in schools that go test-optional.' I knew I want warm weather, because I'm so over the cold. I just want[ed] to be close to a beach."

National Day of Remembrance of the 80th Anniversary of   D-Day

On the evening of June 6, 1944, President Franklin D. Roosevelt broadcast a prayer for the Nation.  At the time, war was raging in Europe, and Hitler controlled most of it.  Freedom and democracy were under assault around the world.  But on that day, hope had landed on the beaches of Normandy when 73,000 Americans joined the Allied forces to carry out one of the greatest military missions of all time — a mission that would become known as D-Day.  Knowing the fate of the free world rested in their hands, President Roosevelt asked our Nation to pray for these courageous service members’ strength as they “set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity.”  On the 80th anniversary of D-Day, may we thank these service members for their bravery and sacrifice.  May we honor their heroism, which liberated a continent and saved the world.  And may we recommit to the future they fought and which many died for.

The brave Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines who fought on D-Day faced unparalleled resistance.  Nazi Germany had reinforced the Atlantic Wall, lining miles of dangerous cliffs and rocky coastlines with landmines, beach and water obstacles, and machine gunners while also reinforcing its bunkers.  So, when 7,000 vessels carrying nearly 160,000 service members from eight Allied countries approached Normandy, victory was never guaranteed.  Our paratroopers that jumped behind enemy lines in the night and other military forces had to endure barrages of gunfire, trek through barbed wire, and climb steep sea walls.  Over 2,500 Americans made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives so that the whole world might know freedom.

Today, we remember all the Americans who laid down their lives on D-Day to help end the tyranny of fascism across Europe, liberate oppressed peoples, and ensure the flame of liberty would burn bright around the world.  Their success marked the beginning of the end of Nazi brutality, World War II, and the Holocaust — one of the darkest chapters in human history.  It set the foundations of an enduring peace that still helps guide international cooperation and affairs today.  We owe these service members, who represent the greatest of the Greatest Generation, as well as their families a debt of gratitude that we can never fully repay.   

As we reflect on the sacrifices made on D-Day, we are reminded that freedom is not free and it has never been guaranteed.  Every generation has to earn it, fight for it, and defend it in the battle between autocracy and democracy — between the greed of a few and the rights of many.  Eighty years after our Nation’s brave Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines embarked on D-Day — and as Americans everywhere answered the call to prayer and filled their hearts and homes with hope — may we honor the faith they kept in our Nation and their legacy by upholding the future that they died for — one grounded in freedom, democracy, opportunity, and equality for all.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim June 6, 2024, as a National Day of Remembrance of the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.  I call upon all Americans to observe this day with programs, ceremonies, and activities that honor those who fought and died so that men and women they had never met might know what it is to be free.

     IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this fifth day of June, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-eighth.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former President Donald Trump rallied voters in the scorching heat of Las Vegas, at points telling his supporters to ask for help if needed and appearing irritable with the teleprompters that he said were not working.

The presumptive GOP nominee’s campaign hired extra medics, loading up on fans and water bottles and allowed supporters to carry umbrellas to an outdoor rally Sunday in Las Vegas, where temperatures exceeded 100 degrees Fahrenheit (37.8 degrees Celsius). The Clark County Fire Department said most of the medical calls were related to the heat, and six people were sent to a hospital and 24 others were treated on site.

“I don’t want anybody going on me. We need every voter. I don’t care about you. I just want your vote,” he said, adding that he was joking.

Earlier in his speech, he said the campaign would offer help to people who were feeling tired and joked that “everybody,” including the U.S. Secret Service, was worried about the safety of the crowds and not about him.

“They never mentioned me. I’m up here sweating like a dog,” he said. “This is hard work.”

Trump returned to Nevada , one of the top battleground states in the November election, for his second rally since he was found guilty in a hush-money scandal .

The unprecedented conviction of a former president has juiced Trump’s fundraising and galvanized his supporters, but it remains to be seen whether it will sway swing voters. Trump is scheduled to be interviewed by New York probation officials via a video conference Monday, a required step before his July sentencing.

Temperatures in the Southwest have cooled since reaching historic highs late last week but remain above normal for this time of year and topped 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 degrees Celsius) at the rally, which took place at a park with little shade next to the airport.

Well into his speech, Trump said it was “not as bad” as he thought it would be, and said he was angrier with the teleprompters not working well, even when he used to mock President Barack Obama for relying on that device.

“I pay all this money to teleprompter people, and I’d say 20% of the time, they don’t work,” he said, adding he would not pay the vendor who provided the prompters. “It’s a mess.”

Campaign organizers handed out water bottles as supporters waited in line to be screened by security officers. Inside the venue, large misting fans, pallets of water and cooling tents were placed around the perimeter.

“This is a dry heat. This ain’t nothing for Las Vegas people,” Nevada GOP Chair Michael McDonald said. “But what it symbolizes for the rest of the United States — we will walk through hell” to elect Donald Trump.

McDonald and five other Republicans have been accused of submitting certificates to Congress falsely declaring Trump the winner of Nevada’s 2020 presidential election and their trial has been pushed to next year.

Trump said the rioters who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 to contest the election were “victims” of a “set up.”

“They were really, more than anything else, they are victims of what happened. All they were doing is protesting a rigged election. That’s what they were doing. And then the police say, go in, go in, go in, go in,” he said. “What a set up that was. A horrible, horrible thing.”

The conspiracy theory that the Jan. 6 rioters were encouraged by law enforcement is widespread on the right but has no basis in fact . Many of those who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6 have said — proudly , publicly, repeatedly — that they did so to help the then-president.

Federal and state election officials and Trump’s own attorney general have said there is no credible evidence the 2020 election was tainted. The former president’s allegations of fraud were also roundly rejected by courts, including by judges Trump appointed.

The campaign paid for additional EMS services to be on site in the case of emergency. The Secret Service made an exception to allow people to bring in personal water bottles and umbrellas.

“You know what? It’s worth it,” said Camille Lombardi, a 65-year-old retired nurse from Henderson in suburban Las Vegas who was seeing Trump in person for the first time. “Too bad it wasn’t indoors, but that’s OK.”

During a Trump rally in Arizona on Thursday, the Phoenix Police Department said 11 people were transported to hospitals, treated and released for heat exhaustion. Many of Trump’s supporters waited in line for hours and some were unable to get inside before the venue reached capacity. The temperature reached a record 113 degrees Fahrenheit (45 degrees Celsius) that day.

Trump’s Nevada rally, his third in the state this year, came on the tail end of a Western swing that included several high-dollar fundraisers where he was expected to rake in millions of dollars.

Democrat Hillary Clinton won Nevada in 2016 as did President Joe Biden in 2020 , but Nevada was the only battleground state where Trump did better against Biden than Clinton. In the 2022 midterms, Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak, a Democrat, was the only incumbent governor who did not win reelection.

Trump hopes his strength among working-class voters and growing interest from Latinos will push him to victory in the state.

In a play for Nevada’s massive service-sector workforce, Trump said he’d seek to eliminate taxes on tips, a major source of income for food servers, bartenders and others who power glitzy Las Vegas hotels.

The Culinary Union Secretary-Treasurer Ted Pappageorge criticized Trump for making that promise, a measure he said the union has fought for decades.

“Relief is definitely needed for tip earners, but Nevada workers are smart enough to know the difference between real solutions and wild campaign promises from a convicted felon,” he said in a statement.

Trump’s campaign announced a renewed push for Hispanic voters ahead of the event with a Latino Americans for Trump Coalition. Four of the speakers who warmed up the crowd before Trump took the stage were Hispanic immigrants. _____

The vice president of Malawi and nine other people were killed when their plane crashed in bad weather, the country’s president said on Tuesday.

The plane carrying Vice President Saulos Chilima went missing on Monday morning, prompting a huge search operation in the southeastern African country.

In an address to the nation, the president, Lazarus Chakwera, said that rescue workers had discovered the wreckage in thick forest in the north of the country and that there were no survivors.

“Words cannot describe how heartbreaking this is,” Mr. Chakwera said from the government’s headquarters as a member of Mr. Chilima’s political party wept loudly.

The president described Mr. Chilima, 51, as a “good man, a devoted father and husband and a patriotic citizen who served his country with distinction.”

Mr. Chilima had been expected to run for president in the 2025 election.

The plane, a Malawian military aircraft, had successfully completed a trip just hours before the doomed flight, according to Mr. Chakwera.
