Overview Space Rig Assignments

Assignments are short quests, consisting of a series of missions . You can have one active assignment at a time, and choose it at the Assignment Board in the Space Rig .

Biome rotation does not affect the type of missions that will progress an assignment. For example, if it calls for a specific Egg Hunt as its final mission, it will still call for an Egg Hunt mission in all future rotations. The biome, length and complexity of the mission, its mutators might change, but the type of the mission will stay the same.

Objective: Conquer Hoxxes IV

This is a 10-mission long assignment that has to be played by every new player to unlock all available mission types and Planetary Regions . These missions are free of Mutators .

Company Benefits: Mineral Trading Network

This is a short, 3 mission long assignment that will unlock the Mineral Trade Terminal It becomes available after Conquering Hoxxes IV assignment has been completed.

Objective: Breach The Core

Upon obtaining the first promotion , the end campaign assignment mission is unlocked. Completing this 9 mission long assignment will reward the player with 6 Infused Matrix Cores, as well as unlocks the Weekly Core Hunt assignment.

New Hazard Level: Lethal

This is a 3 mission-long assignment, upon completion the player is granted access to Hazard 5 - Lethal. The assignment's missions can have mutators and have to be completed at Hazard 4.

Spec Ops: Industrial Sabotage

A one mission long assignment that will grant the player access to the mission type Industrial Sabotage upon completion.

Warning: Rival Escalation

1 Rewards a Blank Matrix Core if all Weapon Overclocks are owned 2 Rewards a Mineral Canister if all Matrix Core Cosmetics are owned

Note that this assignment is unusual, as it can provide Blank Matrix Cores before a player has promoted their first miner and unlocked The Forge and Machine Events . Because Machine Events cannot be initiated pre-promotion, the only way to preemptively use these cores is to find a Machine Event while playing with another player who has already acquired the Tritilyte Key.

Weekly Assignments

These two assignments are repeatable in order to reward players for continued play. Like Deep Dives , they reset at 11am UTC on Thursdays.

Dwarves will unlock these assignments once reaching specific levels, these assignments grant them licenses to various equipment.

When one of your dwarves reaches Character Level 25, they become eligible for a promotion . In order to promote, you have to complete a 4-mission-long assignment, and pay a large amount of Credits and Crafting Materials. Missions for these assignments are picked randomly.

Prestige Assignments

This assignment becomes available after Conquering Hoxxes IV assignment has been completed. It's focused on the big machinery Missions and will reward 50 of each crafting materials, credits and a special helmet.

3-6. Part III, Duty Description

This information is written by the rater and verified with the rated NCO. Refer to DA PAM 623-3, Evaluation Reporting System, table 3-3 for duty description evaluation instructions. The duty description:

Is an outline of the normal requirements of the specific duty position. Should show type of work required rather than frequently changing tasks. Is essential to performance counseling and evaluation. It is used during the first counseling session to tell the rated NCO what the duties are and what needs to be emphasized. May be updated during the rating period. Is used at the end of the rating period to record what was important about the duties.

NCOER Part : IIIc: Daily Duties and Scope

These must include a series of phrases, starting with verbs/action words and separated by semicolons and ending in a period. This block should address the most important routine duties and responsibilities. Ideally, this should include the number of people supervised, equipment, facilities, and dollars involved and any other routine duties and responsibilities.

For ARNGUS AGR Soldiers assigned as readiness NCO or training NCO, enter both the NCO's TOE or TDA assignment and the full-time support titles such as Chief or Firing Battery/Readiness NCO. The absence of counseling will not be used as the sole basis for an appeal. However, the lack of counseling may be used to help support other claims made in an appeal.

Recap story: Atlas 5 completes heavy-duty launch assignment

CAPE CANAVERAL — In a breath-taking display at daybreak today, an Atlas rocket powered an enormous U.S. Navy satellite into space to close the last remaining gap and give global reach to the military’s new mobile communications system.

At about 15,000 pounds, the Mobile User Objective System satellite No. 4 was a mere 60 pounds lighter than the all-time heaviest Atlas cargo, a mark set earlier this year with MUOS 3.

It required the highest-performing Atlas 5 rocket in the stable to do the lifting this morning, powering off the launch pad on two-and-a-half million pounds of thrust from the kerosene-fueled main engine and five strap-on solid boosters.

Liftoff came at 6:18 a.m. EDT (1018 GMT) to cap an overnight countdown at the Cape, adding yet another flight to the Atlas’ string of 23 consecutive missions to fuel-and-launch on the first attempt.

Three hours later, after three firings by the Centaur upper stage, the silver and black satellite, built by Lockheed Martin, was released into space to complete the 56th Atlas 5 ascent and the 127th successful Atlas program launch in a row spanning more than two decades.

It also marked United Launch Alliance’s 99th successful flight since December 2006, the eighth this year and third for the U.S. military in just the past six weeks.

“Space launch is an inherently risky enterprise and we must never become complacent. Many thousands of things need to go right during the launch and we don’t get a second chance once the rocket lifts off,” said Dr. Walt Lauderdale, MUOS 4 mission director from the Air Force’s Space and Missile Systems Center.

Destined for geosynchronous orbit 22,300 miles high, MUOS 4 will enter service over the Indian Ocean. It is the last piece needed in the Navy’s constellation of strategically-placed satellites that now will offer coverage around the world.

“This fourth launch represents the completion of the operational constellation of the MUOS capability…Once we have this satellite in position and operational, we will have worldwide coverage for MUOS,” said Navy Capt. Joe Kan, MUOS program manager.

“This narrowband system is critical for warfighting missions. Narrowband communications is used by every combatant commander, every ship, submarine and aircraft, and on ground vehicles as well as troops in the field.”

The fifth and final MUOS launch — an on-orbit spare satellite — is scheduled for July 2016 on Atlas. It, too, will be positioned over the Indian Ocean.

MUOS 1 was launched Feb. 24, 2012 aboard an Atlas 5 and serves as the Pacific Ocean satellite. MUOS 2 launched July 19, 2013 aboard another Atlas 5 and serves as the continental U.S. satellite. MUOS No. 3 went up atop an Atlas 5 on Jan. 20 to cover the Atlantic Ocean region.

MUOS is the nation’s next-generation narrowband tactical satellite communications system, providing 3G cellphone features to warfighters on the move.

“It’s really providing a smartphone-like service to troops all over the world. It enables them to talk, text and share mission data seamlessly,” said Army Col. Jim Ross, program manager for tactical radios.

“It gives that reach for any soldier to talk to the higher headquarters no matter where they are or where they are challenged in terms of operating environments — mountains, jungles or urban environments.”

“Having experienced the MUOS voice communications, it is better than your cellphone,” said Iris Bombelyn, Lockheed Martin’s vice president for narrowband communications.

Eight orbital raising burns are expected over the next eight days, followed by antenna and appendage deployments and then a test program that Lockheed Martin will perform. The military will take control of the satellite in about 90 days to conduct its own acceptance evaluation before the craft enters service.

Up next for United Launch Alliance is the company’s milestone-setting 100th flight. It will have an Atlas 5 rocket launching from Cape Canaveral on Oct. 2 for a purely commercial flight to deliver Mexico’s Morelos 3 communications satellite into space. The launch window is 6:09 to 6:28 a.m. EDT.

That will be followed six days later by another Atlas 5 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California on Oct. 8 with the classified National Reconnaissance Office NROL-55 payload. The unclassified launch period is 5 to 9 a.m. Pacific Time (8 a.m. to 12 noon EDT). The exact launch time is secret for now.

The hectic October for Atlas 5 continues back at the Cape with the Global Positioning System 2F-11 navigation satellite. That launch is planned for Oct. 30 between 12:17 and 12:35 p.m. EDT.

Perez for heavy-duty assignment: "No one has been able to reach the level of Max"

The topic that was most discussed at the end of the season was of course the seat at Red Bull Racing next to Max Verstappen . It eventually went to Sergio Perez , but Helmut Marko explains that Alexander Albon was also close to keeping his seat.

Perez seemed certain of his seat at Aston Martin before 2021, yet he was told he had to make way for Sebastian Vettel at the end of 2020 with a clause in his contract. Perez seemed to go without a seat for a while, but in the end he got the chance at Red Bull. Many people mentioned Nico Hulkenberg as a suitable character next to Max, but Marko didn't care.

''For us it was never about which duo would work well together, but what would be best for the team. McLaren , Renault and Ferrari will be there next year and then we need a strong driver duo to become world champion. The Essential Packing Guide for Travel Therapists

Are you a travel therapist about to embark on a travel assignment and don’t know what to pack? Need a travel therapy packing list?

Packing can be one of the hardest parts about picking up and moving to a new location for work.

Spoiler alert , you need a lot less than you think you do! 13-weeks goes by quickly and you need to bring a lot less than you may think.

Here are my tips on what to pack for your next 13-week travel healthcare assignment.

Determine What Your Housing Provides

Before I pack I try to determine what is going to be included in my housing and what is not.

If the kitchen is fully stocked then I can leave most home goods at home. If it is not, then I bring or plan to buy my kitchen basics. Such as a coffee pot, teapot, frying pan, Tupperware, silverware, bowls, mugs, glasses, and spatula.

Remember, you can always purchase things once you are on your assignment.

Target, Costco, Amazon , and thrift stores are all places you can go to purchase home goods and items that you forgot to pack. There is even Costco in Hawaii!

Home Essentials

• Spices (expensive to buy new at each place)
• Cutting board
• To go cups/bottles
• Wine bottle opener (If you drink wine, you’ll notice if you forget this one!)

The other main thing that I need to consider if how am I getting to the assignment.

When flying to Hawaii, I will be taking a lot less and more considerate of every item that I am packing.

No matter where you go you can always purchase things there.

Stay Organized While Packing

Packing Cubes are a great way to stay organized while packing for travel. Whether you use the cubes to put in your suitcases, your car, or in boxes, they can help you pack and be organized.

I like EZPacking cubes because they have a lay-flat, sturdy, top open design. They are also clear/see-through, which makes it easy to see what you have packed and where.

• Shampoo/Conditioner/Soaps/Face Soap/Razors
• Toothpaste/Toothbrush/Floss
• Contact Lenses/Glasses
• Medications as prescribed
• First Aid Kit

Pro Tip : I try my hardest to pack only for the season that I am going to but I also like to be prepared, so if I am going to California during a change of season in the spring I may bring mostly summer gear, but also some sweater, layers, and boots in case it gets more chilly.

• Underwear/socks
• 4-7 sets of work uniforms (pending schedule)
• Work out attire
• Casual/leisure clothes
• Rain gear: Jacket, Boots
• “Nice” outfits for hanging out, site seeing, etc
• A formal outfit in case a work party/holiday party arises
• Shoes for working, working out, leisure activities

Always pack rain gear!

It even rains even in the desert!

A small rain shell and umbrella do not take up a lot of room in a suitcase and can save you from a lot of discomforts.

After your first assignment really take stock of what you wear and what you do not.

I heard that every spring you should hang your hangers backward in your closet and only turn them around if you actually wear an item.

At the end of the season, you should donate all of the clothes that you did not wear/turn over the hanger.

I think this translates well for travelers.

If you go through an entire assignment and do not wear or use something then do not bring it with you to the next assignment.

You could donate unused items, sell them online, or send home for when you get back.

The basics for work

In the romanticism of travel it can be easy to forget that we are actually going to these new locations to work, so yes do not forget to bring your work stuff.

• Pens/sharpie/dry erase/highlighter
• Lunch box/water bottle/coffee mug
• Any discipline-specific needs

Documents and Legal

Don’t forget your important documents!

First, I travel with a file full of hard copies, as well as back up PDFs.

I scan all of my important documents into electronic storage via a phone app called “Scanner Pro”.

There are many similar apps available online that do the same thing; scan documents/pictures and convert them into PDF files that you can save and email.

These are the documents that I make sure to have with me either electronically, hard copy or both.

• Drivers License/ID/Passport
• Credit/Debit cards and checkbook
• Auto insurance policy
• Car registration
• Copy of most recent physical and vaccine/titer history, drug test, fit test, BLS card
• Copy of your state and national work licenses

As I type from my MacBook with my iPhone next to me it is obvious that I do not skimp on bringing technology with me.

• Phone and chargers
• External Hard Drive
• Cords/Cables/Chargers
• Go Pro for those underwater shots

Don’t forget about your hobbies! You are not working 24/7!

Comfort Items

Traveling can be lonely and you can get homesick. You want to make sure add some comfort items to your travel therapy packing list.

It is important that you bring a couple of items with you that make you feel comfortable and at home.

Personally, that is my pillows and fleece throw.

Some ideas of comfort items for your travel therapy packing list:

• Favorite spices for your kitchen
• Coffee mugs

In closing, I think it is important for each individual to determine what it is that is important for you and what you need for your work and life balance.

Being a traveler has taught me to live like a minimalist and I now thoroughly enjoy that lifestyle.  It feels very freeing to be carrying minimal amounts of stuff from assignment to assignment and only bringing what I know I will need and use.

Love this 🙂 I have been traveling locally for a year and a half, but my husband is getting ready to go with me and we are working on whittling down what we’re bringing. I have gotten rid of a TON of clothes, but it still seems like I have so much! I don’t feel high maintenance normally, but man packing everything into a car sure shows how high maintenance I could potentially be.

If I flew, what would I use for transportation once I got to my destination?

You could rent a car, take public transit (if available), or buy a car online and sell it when you leave. I mostly rent cars if I fly to an assignment through Turo.com or a local car rental shop.

A traveler I recently worked with had a hard time finding car rentals so she rented a Uhaul when ever she needed a vehicle! I thought that was pretty resourceful! She said it was waaay cheaper too! 😂

Light Duty Truck VS Heavy Duty: What's The Big Difference?

W hen you've got a big load that you need to haul, that's no job for an ordinary car — that's a job for a proper truck . A truck can give you much greater muscle and towing power than a regular car. However, not all trucks are created equal. Some trucks are designed to haul smaller loads around residential roads, while others are designed to rule the highway with massive cargo holds. It is in this distinction that we find the difference between light-duty and heavy-duty trucks.

It's important to know the difference between a light-duty and a heavy-duty truck because if you try to do one's job with the other, you could run into all kinds of problems and complications. So, what exactly is the difference between light and heavy-duty trucks, and what kinds of hauling jobs are each intended for? The answer lies in the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

Truck Classifications Explained

Light and heavy duty are two of three truck classifications, which are themselves simplified versions of an eight-class system determined by the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating statistic, or GVWR. The GVWR is an abstraction of a truck's maximum safe operating weight, including both the truck itself and any payloads it's hauling.

Light duty trucks encompass GVWR classes 1 through 3, medium duty trucks encompass classes 4 through 6, and heavy duty trucks encompass classes 7 and 8. Incidentally, class 2 is divided into two sub-classes, 2A and 2B.

By understanding these classes, you can get a good idea of what light or heavy-duty trucks can handle on the road. Lower-class trucks are more similar to traditional cars, with just enough size and carry weight to be considered trucks without requiring special training or licensure. High-class trucks are obviously much larger in size and strength , often require some kind of special license to operate, and can't be used on certain types of roads.

Light Duty In General

Any truck with a GVWR rating of zero to 14,000 pounds is considered a light-duty truck. This includes smaller pickup trucks like the Ford Ranger, Ford F-450, and the Chevy Silverado. If you find a small pickup on the lot at a local car dealership alongside the regular cars, it's probably a light duty.

Light duty trucks are intended primarily to be the next step up from a regular car, something you can drive on a residential or unpaved road while also packing enough raw muscle to haul small loads. For example, a light-duty truck would be ideal for hauling a small camper into the woods or a mid-sized boat to a marina.

Since light-duty trucks are closer in size to cars, they tend to be subjected to more stringent emission standards. As a result of this, light-duty trucks tend to get slightly better gas mileage than their larger counterparts.

Heavy Duty In General

Any truck with a GVWR rating of 26,000 to 33,000 and up is considered a heavy-duty truck. This includes rougher customers like the Ford F-750 and the Silverado 3500HD, as well as full-on utility vehicles like tractor-trailers and dump trucks. If you need a heavy-duty truck, you'd likely need to contact a specialized dealer.

Heavy-duty trucks are designed for one thing over all else: power. If you need to haul a large cargo trailer or a stack of construction materials, that's a job for a heavy-duty truck. Because of the emphasis on power, not to mention their massive size, heavy-duty trucks can't be driven on uneven, non-commercial roads, at least not safely. In fact, trucks of this size can't even be owned and operated without at least a Class-B commercial vehicle license, possibly a Class-A if your load is over 10,000 pounds on its own.

To facilitate their mighty towing power, heavy-duty trucks usually pack equally powerful diesel engines and supersized suspensions. Great for towing but not so much for gas mileage.

What Can A Light Duty Do That A Heavy Can't?

Generally speaking, unless you're a professional freight tower, a light-duty truck is plenty for whatever you need. Light-duty trucks can handle modest loads like furniture or camping supplies and often have better movement control. A light-duty truck can drive safely on commercial, residential, and undeveloped roads, not to mention squeeze into tunnels that a heavy-duty truck would be too large to enter. If you want to go on a brief vacation with your friends and need something rugged to carry the lot of you, light duty is the name of the game.

It's also worth noting that the smaller size and carrying capacity of light-duty trucks make them more affordable to non-professional drivers. If you need a vehicle that can get you to work in the morning and do some light hauling, a light-duty truck is a much more sensible option than something with thousands of pounds of muscle you'll never use.

What Can A Heavy Duty Do That A Light Can't?

If you work as a professional freight driver or plan on becoming one, a heavy-duty truck is an absolute necessity. If you're hauling large cargo, the extra muscle that comes with a heavy-duty truck will allow you to safely and efficiently move it across the nation's highways. These behemoths may be expensive to own and operate, but if you're in their wheelhouse, they'll take care of you.

Basically, if you're buying a truck for the express purpose of hauling stuff rather than just traveling for its own sake, a light-duty truck wouldn't be able to handle that job. Trying to haul a massive cargo trailer with a light-duty pickup truck is like trying to lift a massive dumbbell with your pinky finger; it can't be done. If you're driving for a professional moving company, a large object delivery service, a multi-car towing service, or any similar business, you need a heavy duty.
