Top 25 best puzzle games for iPhone and iPad (iOS)

25 essential iOS puzzle games to start your collection

Updated on April 19, 2023 - re-checked the list. This genre is right at the heart of the mobile gaming experience. Therefore, we decided to create a list of the best iOS puzzle games for iPhones and iPads !

It fits the environment perfectly - small, largely static (or at least slow-paced) titles that don't require lavish visuals or complex controls, and which will reward however much time you're able to commit to them.

It's not surprising to find that the App Store is positively brimming with puzzle games , then. But finding the best puzzle games for iOS is no easy feat.

They come in all shapes and sizes, from old-fashioned match threes to crazy experimental flights of fancy. And the ground between those two extremes is vast. Imagine this - nowadays, you can even find puzzle RPGs (which was unheard of a few years back)!  Also read:

Best puzzle games for iPhone and iPad

We're sure that you have a few select ones that we haven't listed, but that's partly because of what we mentioned above. There are just so many!

Instead, we've tried to focus on the few select titles that really stood out to us and distinguished themselves in some sort - be it they've got unique graphics, never-before-seen mechanics or especially tricky perplexities. That's what we tried to look out for, so while you might see some premium titles (like Gorogoa), you'll also find free-to-play ones that can be plenty of fun (such as Pink)!

So, let's take a look at some of the best iPhone puzzle games , shall we?

1 Monument Valley 2

Monument Valley 2

Like the original, Monument Valley warps reality and assaults your eyes with otherworldly landscapes. Rarely has a runaway mainstream hit felt so daringly experimental. With the problem-solving aspect falling somewhere in between 3D and mind-twisting, it is a great title to get you started.

The graphics are gorgeous, but while that's an aspect that deserves our appreciation in a different post, you'll find that this creation meets all the expectations. That's why it's one of the best puzzle games iPhone users can get their hands on, even years down the line.

2 Text Express: Word Adventure

Text Express: Word Adventure

Text Express: Word Adventure is an interesting puzzle game where you have to solve crosswords and a lot more. The gameplay is great, and the story and atmosphere are also remarkable. Text Express is a perfect choice for both children and adults if you want to relax and enjoy your time.

Text Express: Word Adventure was nominated for the best mobile puzzle game at the Pocket Gamer Awards 2022 and won it! The users of our website consider it to be the best puzzle of the year, and we definitely agree with them!

Gorogoa

A rare masterpiece, Gorogoa combines a clever picture-shifting mechanic with a beautiful storybook art style. It's quite wonderful but challenging at the same time. We added it as one of our best iPad puzzle games since the bigger screen is going to make it a lot more enjoyable.

Also, Gorogoa is best served in one sitting though because the story is a mesmerizing one and you won't want to miss a thing! You'll find stunning hand-drawn illustrations, unexpected obstacles, and an alluring narrative. What else could you want?

4 Grindstone

Grindstone

One of the finest titles from the initial Apple Arcade offering - which is really saying something. Grindstone's tactile match-three battling is a real treat. It's nothing like you would expect from a classic match-3 game, and that is mainly thanks to its unique approach.

Players will have plenty of levels to grind their stones (if I may say that), and with such great-looking graphics, it's an absolute treat. Grindstone is a must-try for all the match-three enthusiasts. We even have some Grindstone beginner tips to help you out!

Prune

Puzzlers used to be functional looking and targeted at the logic centres rather than seeking any kind of emotional response. Prune turns all that on its head with its achingly beautiful grown-'em-up gameplay. It's not what one might expect at the start, but it's one of those unique approaches to the genre we mentioned in our introduction.

Prune has been, and still is, one of the most beautiful iPhone puzzle games out there - not only that, but it's also extremely relaxing, although it poses a challenge every now and again.

6 The Room: Old Sins

The Room: Old Sins

Even four entries in, the intricate locked-box puzzles within puzzles of The Room series continue to enthral. When it's as perfectly executed as The Room: Old Sins, we could happily take several more.

While it is a premium title, it's well worth its price. Not only do the graphics amaze us with their realism, but also the gameplay is spot on - it's everything one could want from a real mystery experience. Talk about unique-looking games executed well! We have a video review for The Room: Old Sins , so if you're curious about how it plays, make sure to check it out!

Threes!

This fiendishly clever number-based title should have a place on every mobile device. Accept no imitations.

With plenty of spark that has (somewhat) cooled off over the years, Threes! is, and has been, a title that stood out. It's easy to understand why that is, especially when you have a title with so much potential playtime. And no, before you ask, you don't need to like maths to like Threes! - in fact, it could be quite the opposite. You might even start (slightly) liking maths after you've played it.

8 Ticket to Earth

Ticket to Earth

You've probably noticed that in our introduction we mentioned RPGs - well, here's one! It's not often that you find a title with a rollicking story, but that's precisely what Ticket to Earth provides. At heart, it's a block-matching title, but one that adds in compelling RPG elements and glorious comic book visuals.

The premium price is well-justified by its quality, so if that's what you're looking for in this genre, don't feel guilty about it. Ticket to Earth is one of the best iPhone puzzle games, and that won't change anytime soon.

9 Mini Metro

Mini Metro

At your disposal is the whole modern world, all the megacities that today have a subway. Will you be able to organize the transport system in such a way that everything functions without delays and other problems? You are given a complete list of tools for work, but to dispose of them correctly is the very puzzle that will test your skills as a manager and builder.

For those of you eager to try it, you can take a look at the tips for Mini Metro that might open up some new paths for you (no pun intended).

10 Yankai's Peak

Yankai's Peak

A highly challenging abstract puzzler from Kenny Sun that keeps drawing you back in. Rotating coloured triangles into place across its compact levels is a mind-bending delight. It might seem simple, but it's one of the best iOS puzzle games that does exactly what it's meant to do without much effort.

This hand-crafted gimmick of a game is ideal for testing your logical thinking in the direst situations. It could even be called a little psychedelic, if you may. It all depends on how you look at it.

11 The Witness

The Witness

The Witness might look and even feel like a first-person adventure, but its beautiful free-roaming hub world is underpinned by fiendishly clever line-drawing puzzles. It is the ideal title for kicking back and relaxing at the end of an exhausting day, because thanks to its beautiful atmosphere, it will fill you right up with energy!

12 Evergarden

Evergarden

You thought you knew all about the most enjoyable iOS puzzle games? Think again. This enchanting experience takes the advanced match-and-evolve gameplay of Triple Town to the next level, with a hexagon-based grid and a beautiful 3D art style.

Evergarden feels like an enchanted title, where each move could give birth to something new and intriguing. And that's only part of the story. You should definitely give this one a try, it's as good as it gets!

13 Good Sudoku

Good Sudoku

To the uninitiated, Sudoku can feel like a foreign language. Zach Gage feels your sense of mystification and has made this comprehensive take on the popular pencil-and-paper intellect booster. Whether you're a Sudoku newbie or a veteran, Good Sudoku will more than live up to its name.

And no, you don't need to know the what s and how s of this popular title to ace it. You can start slow, and move your way up to more advanced sudokus.

Pink

Bart Bonte is renowned for his colour-coded abstract puzzlers, and Pink is the brightest yet. Each brain-teaser is a clever, meta delight that will challenge your rods and cones to the next level. While the levels might seem simple at the start, they'll quickly evolve into something a little more... fantastic.

If you're feeling up for the challenge, give it a shot! And while you're at it, you could also check out Green, Red, Yellow, or Blue! They're all equally amazing, so pick your colour and get to solving them!

15 Campfire Cooking

Campfire Cooking

Games with a cooking theme have been around for a while, but none quite seemed to integrate the "cooking" part as well as Campfire Cooking. The beauty in this title is not from the graphics alone, but from the gameplay too. It is one of the few iPhone puzzle games you can almost always find time to play!

A grid-based title with some of the most delicious presentations around. In place of blocks and tiles, here you're shuffling around marshmallows and cooking pots. Tasty.

Empty.

A stylish casual puzzler that asks you to rotate a series of boldly decorated rooms through 360 degrees, matching up colour-coded items of furniture. Empty. is a minimalistic title, but with a massive appeal once you get the hang of it. In essence, it's quite simple. At a closer look, it requires more than just a couple of twists and turns.

You won't decorate in Empty, but instead, make things disappear. Now THAT'S a unique approach. Don't forget to read our Empty. review , since it'll give you all the details you need to get started on this stunning iPhone puzzle game.

17 Photographs

Photographs

You thought there could be a list without as much as a pixel graphic title? Wrong.

It is not at all what one might expect though. A narrative with a real heart, Photographs will tug your heartstrings just as much as it tickles your neurons with its block-sliding gameplay. It's one of the absolute most satisfying puzzle games on iOS we ever played, hands-down. Just read our Photographs review .

Each story is different, and each one is uniquely beautiful in its own sense. One aspect that cannot go overlooked though, is its cleverness. You actually need to pay attention to everything, because nothing is 'just there". Every feature of perplexity has a deeper meaning.

18 Framed 2

Framed 2

Have you ever dreamed of creating an interesting comic? While you might not be able to actually do that, you can control the action of the characters! In Framed 2, much like in Framed, you'll have to arrange panels in order to reveal a certain outcome to a story.

It's clever, it's unique, but most certainly it is fun. A challenging title that features mysteries, fun stories, and great-looking graphics.

19 Song of Bloom

Song of Bloom

You don't typically equate the puzzler genre with strong narratives, but Song of Bloom achieves that rare balance with some aplomb. It's the story of a search for meaning, told through a bunch of eclectic problems that require logical thinking, keen observation, and experimentation.

With ever-changing art styles and fitting music for each level, you'll have to figure out some rather... unique ways of solving the mysteries. Looking for one of the greatest iPhone puzzle games? Give this one a shot.

OXXO

Another bright, minimalistic title from the developer of Zenge and Scalak. OXXO is essentially a 3D sliding puzzle, with plenty of clever flourishes.

What starts off as a simple one-dimensional title, will soon come to be a true 3D experience that will leave you scratching your head. It's challenging, despite its simple approach. A true masterpiece. Don't forget to read our OXXO review , since it'll tell you more about this challenging iOS puzzler - it might even make you want to try it for yourself!

21 7 Billion Humans

7 Billion Humans

A game that utilises the basic principles of coding doesn't exactly sound like a barrel of laughs, but 7 Billion Humans pulls the whole off with style and substance. It seems complicated at best, but you'll soon discover that it's all for good reason. When the world gets overtaken by robots, nothing will seem too simple after all.

However intricate it might look, if you just follow a few simple principles, you'll find yourself loving 7 Billion Humans more and more every second. We have a 7 Billion Humans review too - so, if you're not sure whether or not this puzzler is right for you, make sure to check it out.

22 Golf Peaks

Golf Peaks

It might look like dull isometric golf, but Golf Peaks is actually an ingenious card-based puzzler that has you laying down golf shots in the right sequence. The simple graphics make this (slightly) complex title more appealing, giving it a rather cartoonish look, even though the levels will soon prove to be straight out of hell.

Golf Peaks is a clever reminder that looks can be quite deceiving, especially when it comes to mobile games. It's a top-notch puzzle game for iPhone that will not disappoint you, golf fan or otherwise - you can read our review of Golf Peaks if you need further convincing!

23 The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between

You don't often get the 'have to' phrase before premium games, but this one is a must. The Gardens Between is hand-down one of the best iPhone puzzle games out there, and for all the right reasons.

This side-scrolling puzzler ingeniously plays with time in various (clever but accessible) ways and marries its temporal manipulation with an utterly dreamy art style. It's absolutely stunning. We even have a review of The Gardens Between , so if you're curious how it actually feels while playing, make sure to read it.

ELOH

You don't normally associate puzzlers with rhythm, but that's precisely what ELOH brings to the table. This charmer has you deflecting streams of pips, forming delightful percussive loops along the way. It's a most relaxing experience, where you get to solve various stages by enjoying a good beat.

Basically, it's related to basic geometry, and it's quite fun. After solving the most complex puzzles you'll have the true 'Eureka' moment. ELOH is going to bring you true Zen - what more could you ask for?

25 Baba is You

Baba is You

Baba is You has a quite unique approach to the whole puzzle genre. It got a few awards for it, and for a good reason, it's hard to think of a concept that's new in today's world. Namely, the game looks like the old Sokoban, where you need to move blocks in a certain order to finish a level. Baba is You has expanded this concept and went much further.

At each level, you have some fundamental rules written in blocks. Like 'Rock| is | Stop' means that you can't go through rocks. But you can move the block that says |stop| and guess what happens? You can move through obstacles! Breaking the basic rules set is much more fun than you think, basically, you can shift them however you want, and find different ways to complete the levels. Mindbreaking, isn't it?

10 Best iPhone Puzzle Games to Enhance Your Thinking Capability

iphone puzzle game

A brain that isn’t utilized much is bound to become dull over time. Just like your body, your mind needs stimulation too.

People work out in the gym to keep themselves fit. Similarly, the brain needs to exercise to maintain its shape. However, this type of working out doesn’t require dumbbells or treadmills. Instead, you need something that activates your brain’s cognitive processes.

Luckily, there are many puzzle games available out there. Playing these games is a surefire way of boosting your brain power. Think about it for a minute; isn’t it a win-win situation? Why do we play games, to begin with? Isn’t it to pass our time and have some fun?

mobile-game

By playing puzzle games on your smartphone, you are killing time on one hand and training your brain on the other. Below, we will present the best iPhone puzzle games to enhance your thinking capability.

A study shows that playing puzzle games can sharpen human brains and improve efficiency. Besides offering a solution to our boredom, they help our minds stay fit. While there are many iOS puzzle games, each claiming they help boost your thinking ability, not every game is effective.

That’s why we installed and played many of these games to test them ourselves. After careful assessment, we have compiled the best ones that exceeded our expectations. We hope they will elevate your brain’s capacity to an unprecedented level.

How Do Puzzle Games Sharpen Your Mind?

As we mentioned earlier, just like your body, your mind needs to exercise to maintain fitness. Puzzle games are an effective method of testing a person’s knowledge level.

Solving these puzzles demands a person’s thorough focus and evaluation of the problem as they challenge a person mentally and stimulate the brain, improving brain functions.

Besides improving visual and spatial reasoning, they boost your short-term memory by connecting existing brain cells and forming new ones.

Also, puzzle games give your mind a workout by exercising both the left and right sides of your brain. In case you were unaware, the left hemisphere of your brain controls logical and analytical thinking.

On the other hand, the right side controls your creativity. When trying to solve a puzzle game, you are engaging both sides at once. Hence, it leads to a good mental workout and, in turn, sharpens your brain.

How Do Puzzle Games Benefit Your Brain’s Thinking Ability?

Puzzle games serve as brain capacity enhancers for people of all ages. There are many remarkable advantages of playing these games that you would not want to miss. Here are some of those benefits:

#1. Improves Memory

Playing puzzle games helps strengthen the connection between our existing brain cells. Plus, they help form new ones too. Naturally, this boosts mental speed and improves our thinking capacity.

improves-memory

When you are solving a puzzle, you keep in mind certain things like shapes, sizes, etc., and visualize the bigger picture. As these games form new brain connections, they can enhance your short-term memory and alleviate brain damage in patients with Alzheimer’s disease .

#2. Boosts Problem-Solving Ability

The ability to think critically and solve problems creatively are among the most sought-after skills in the professional world. Puzzle games are an excellent way of developing these skills.

Solving a puzzle requires lots of trial and error. Therefore, you take several different approaches until a specific one works.

Additionally, you also learn to make your hypotheses and alter your viewpoint when you face failure. Once you develop these skills, they will influence your professional life too. And consequentially, you will learn to think out of the box and gain more adaptability.

#3. Boosts IQ

Puzzles contribute to our memory improvements and enhance our reasoning ability. Therefore, they also help boost our Intelligence Quotient .

According to a researcher from the University of Michigan , if an adult plays puzzle games for 25 minutes daily, their IQ goes up by 4 points. g

#4. Enhances Visual-Spatial Reasoning Skills

When trying to solve a puzzle, your mind stays busy looking at different pieces and figuring out where to fit them. Doing this frequently contributes to the enhancement of your visual-spatial reasoning skills. Instead of having a narrow vision, these puzzles aid you in seeing the bigger picture.

Boosts-Problem-Solving-Ability

Having better visual-spatial reasoning is useful while performing your day-to-day tasks too. These include parking your car, understanding the routes shown on a map, and so on.

Also, some professions, like engineers, surgeons, artists, etc., demand that you have great visual and spatial abilities. If you are in such a field, you will benefit from such mental calisthenics.

#5. Contributes to a Positive Mood

Our brains start producing more dopamine when we play puzzle games. For those who don’t know, dopamine is a chemical messenger between neurons responsible for giving you a feeling of reward and optimism.

Each time you succeed in solving a puzzle or even make a little progress, it triggers dopamine release. It improves your mood and motivates you to challenge yourself and push yourself harder.

#6. Increases Productivity

We concentrate better, and our works are more fruitful when we are happy. The absence of stress naturally makes us more productive.

If you ever feel that you are struggling to concentrate properly and cannot give it your best, try taking a short break and playing your favorite puzzle game. It would act as a reset button for your brain and help you start afresh.

increase-productivity

It seems that many companies in the world have understood this fact. This is evident in the fact that they have introduced puzzles in their breakrooms. Such puzzles refresh the employees’ minds, making them more productive when they return from the break.

Now that you know how puzzle games sharpen your cognitive abilities and what their benefits are, let us list out some of the finest iOS puzzle games to try:

Cut the Rope

Cut the Rope is a free physics-based puzzle game that is so much fun to play. The game’s main character, a little monster named Om Nom, only wants to eat candies. Here, players must smartly cut the ropes causing the candies to sway, and collect all the stars before feeding Om Nom.

Cut the Rope involves collecting gold stars, discovering hidden rewards, and playing through 425 levels. Remember that players must collect a certain number of stars to complete each level.

So you have to think and carefully plan how to cut the ropes. The game has acquired a good reputation and received accolades like Apple Design Award, BAFTA Award, Best App Ever Award, etc.

As you keep progressing, the game will make it harder for players to succeed by introducing new challenges. These include bubbles that can take the candies away, spiders capable of stealing the candies, etc. Such elements force the players to go the extra mile to feed Om Nom, increasing their brain stimulation.

While all the levels of Cut the Rope are free to play, you can take its premium membership for additional features like no ads, a free daily bonus, a free starter pack with power-ups, etc.

Multiple subscription options are available starting at $4.99/week/month. Subscriptions will keep auto-renewing unless you manually stop it a day before the end of the current cycle.

The clues are right there but so well hidden that the inattentive ones will have difficulty finding them. While the game offers hints if you are struggling to proceed, it takes away the fun. That’s why it’s best to depend on your abilities to crack the code.

The game is free but comes with in-app purchases. These unlock various packs that make the gameplay more exciting.

Truly an out-of-the-box iOS game, Blackbox takes a new approach by requiring players to solve puzzles without touching their smartphone screen.

To win different levels of his single-player puzzle, players have to turn on the lights of the tiny, colorful boxes on their screen by tilting, screaming, shaking, etc.

While it may sound easy, it is challenging to do all these in the actual game. Blackbox is hard, and we mean it. But it pushes you to think more critically and put your wit to the test.

Also, the sonic interfaces of Blackbox enable even the visually impaired to enjoy this game. Interestingly, Blackbox is going through constant updates and frequently adding brand-new challenges.

Currently, Blackbox is free to play. But there are in-app purchases like Tiny Hint Pack, Erudite Pack, Basic Pack, All Knowing Pack, etc.

Where’s My Water? 2

A sequel to one of the most interesting and addictive physics-based puzzle games from Disney, Where’s My Water? 2 increases the fun manifold.

The game follows the adventures of three gators, Swampy, Allie, and Cranky, as they try to take a bath. Players must cut through dirt, open switches, and dodge various hurdles to ensure the water reaches the sewers.

Each level also has three ducks that players have to collect. Besides that, bonus levels will sometimes unlock after finishing a level.

These levels will have their unique rules that players must follow to win. Needless to say, the game stresses the use of cognitive flexibility and planning, making it a piece of good mental workout equipment.

The newest addition to the ‘Where’s My Water?’ franchise also allows players to replay their favorite levels by introducing ‘Challenge Modes.’  While it’s a free game, there are in-app purchases for additional benefits.

Interestingly, the game starts in 2D during the planning and construction phases, while the testing phase is in 3D. It leaves a lot of room for experimentation too. So, never hesitate to think of something off-the-wall.

The game is free to download but ad-supported. If you don’t want ads, you can opt for in-app purchases that, besides eliminating ads, unlock many other cool features.

This goes on until there are no remaining moves on the grid, after which the game counts your tiles for a final score. Every tile in the game shows a distinctive character and design that becomes increasingly intricate as the player progresses.

Threes! is available on the App Store at $5.99. Remember that this is a one-time purchase. So, you won’t have to pay anything more in the future.

Author’s Note

As you can see, puzzle games can effectively sweep the dust off your brain and boost its power. This article lists the iPhone puzzle games to enhance your thinking capability.

While all of the games mentioned above test your brain and improve your thinking capacity, you should go for games like Cut the Rope, Build a Bridge, and Where’s My Water? 2 if you want to experience a fun-filled yet challenging experience.

Games like Fun Escape Rooms and Brain it On are also great but on the slightly easier side. However, Project Void is our choice if you want a challenging and brain-teasing experience that forces you to think out of the box.

Best puzzle games for iPhone and iPad in 2024

Anirban

When mobile gaming started as an experience for users, the puzzle genre offered the most definitive gaming experience. Years later, puzzle games continue to remain a fan favorite. The variety of puzzle games is astonishing, with superb visuals and complex tactics. Bearing this in mind, I have listed the best iPhone puzzle games .

Table ot Contents

1. Brain Test: Tricky puzzles

Brain Test Tricky Puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

One of my biggest pet peeves with puzzle games is that they often become one-dimensional. The puzzles can become monotonous and stop presenting new challenges. Brain Test: Tricky Puzzles does the exact opposite.

The game has numerous brain teasers that will force you to think outside the box. These puzzles can require the most basic common sense or could push you to think beyond the lines of just logical reasoning.

Another advantage of this game is that it is great for kids and families. If you want to get into brain teasers, this is the one.

There is a shortcoming, though. If you don’t pay for the premium package, you will have to deal with many ads.

Price : Free (In-app purchases start at $1.99)

2. Blackbox

Blackbox puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

Blackbox tries to do something different with the puzzle genre. You may have heard all the games to make this claim. However, Blackbox delivers on this.

The game uses the capabilities of your phone to the greatest extent possible. Apart from the usual tapping, scrolling, and swiping, Blackbox makes you think of other ways to solve puzzles. Some may require you to employ unconventional methods, such as calling your friends or taking cues from the game’s sounds and haptic feedback.

Besides, the game’s visual design is beautiful. Its design is minimalistic and does not hold your hand when you’re trying to solve puzzles.

The game might require using incompatible hardware (such as earphones) to solve some puzzles. So that’s an issue you’ll have to be wary of.

Price : Free (In-app purchases start at $0.99)

3. Build a Bridge!

Build a Bridge puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

Do you think you’d be good at constructing bridges and general concepts of engineering? Build a Bridge! is your chance to test your mettle.

The objective is to build bridges for different vehicles, such as cars, buses, and trucks. To make the game more challenging, unconventional vehicles such as monster trucks are also available.

The game is physics-based and will require you to connect the dots for making the bridge. However, you also have to consider resources and materials at your disposal. Use the wrong materials or connect to the wrong point, and your bridge will collapse.

There’s also an easy mode for people new to this genre. It’s a great way to introduce them to physics-based games.

However, if you’re using the free version, you will have to deal with many ads.

4. Fun escape room: Logic puzzles

Fun Escape room puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

Escape rooms are a fun concept if executed properly. Many escape rooms tend to lack true, challenging puzzle elements, whether real or virtual. This game executes this concept to a much better extent.

The only way to win the game is to solve puzzles and move on to the next one. These puzzles get trickier and more difficult as you progress. There’s also plenty of in-game content, with over 100 doors to unlock.

Each room has unique puzzle elements, and no two rooms will have a similar puzzle to solve. This provides a healthy amount of brain-teasing and logical reasoning.

However, some puzzles may have no instructions at all. This can be frustrating.

5. Decipher: The Brain Game

Decipher puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

Decipher: The Brain Game is for people who want a bit of unpredictability in their puzzle games. This game isn’t for everyone, but it’s worth the challenge.

The game shows you different rings, which are part of an enigma. You have to align them in the correct order to solve the puzzle. However, each action on the rings could have a positive or negative effect. The game’s mechanics often employ something similar to the Butterfly effect.

This means that any action early into your game could have a much larger impact in the latter half of the playthrough. Its design is also beautiful, with soothing colors, visual effects, and a minimalist approach.

Decipher combines elements of both classic movies and the newer generation of sci-fi entertainment. It’s also got 250 different levels to try. I doubt you’ll ever get bored with this game.

A caveat with this game would be that the in-app purchases can be slightly expensive. This gets all the more troublesome when you’re stuck in a particular puzzle and may need something extra to solve the game. There are also a few bugs that may not break the game but can hamper your experience.

6. Project VOID – Mystery Puzzles

Project VOID puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

Detective games have often suffered from poor execution, bad puzzle mechanics, or too much focus on the novelty aspect of being a detective. Project VOID manages to blend just the right mix of detective novelty and challenging puzzles.

The puzzles have an added layer of depth as the game employs an alternate reality. Essentially, it combines in-game fiction with your reality and surroundings to create a mind-bending experience.

The puzzles are part of the mission stories, involving conspiracies and murder mysteries. You will have to think outside the box to solve them.

You might be disappointed as the game only has 5 missions.

Price : Free (In-app purchases start at $3.99)

Threes puzzle game for iPhone and iPad

Threes! is a relatively simple game at first. However, its single-game mode can get more enjoyable and difficult as you progress.

The goal is to merge numbers to create the biggest number possible. By merging the correct numbers in the right places, you will avoid blocking your progress.

The design is simple yet elegant, the music is entertaining, and there’s a layer of personality to the game with some appealing characters. This is one of the  best games for iPhone , no doubt about it.

Recent updates have led to some scathing reviews of the game, surprisingly. With some pay-to-win mechanics being added, this game is something you have to watch out for.

Price : $5.99

8. Monument Valley 2

monument-valley-2-iphone-and-ipad-puzzle-game-screenshot

I’ve mentioned Monument Valley 2 before, and it remains one of my favorite puzzle games. The best part? You don’t need to play the first game to enjoy the sequel.

The game’s objective is to help Ro teach her child about the mysteries of their world and its Sacred Geometry. The puzzles involve illusions and architecture to create something truly beautiful and unique.

There’s also a dash of meditative aspects, giving you a relaxed feeling when playing it. The audio adds to this mode of relaxation. While the puzzles are difficult, you will never feel stressed when trying to solve them.

However, there have been complaints about the game from long-term fans, with many of them stating that the sequel fails to live up to the expectations created from the first game. So if you’ve played Monument Valley 1, there’s a chance that you may not like the sequel as much.

Price : $4.99

9. The Room

the room three iphone and ipad puzzle game screenshot

If you want to combine a puzzle game with a story-driven element, The Room is the blueprint that you should follow. This game has been the App Store Editor’s Choice in over 140 countries for a good reason.

The game puts you in a beautifully rendered 3D world. You have to solve the mystery by interacting with different objects in the world, and each action you take has a wonderful tactile feel.

Each clue leads you deeper into a mystery that you’ll be dying to unfold. The suspense aspects of the game also make it a nail-biter and a game that’s going to stretch your imaginations and ideas about thrill much further than an action game.

Further, the music adds to the atmosphere and often drives the suspense a notch higher. Everyone will find something to like in this puzzler.

Be wary that this game can become addictive. I recommend keeping it away from impressionable children.

Price : $0.99

10. Brain It On!

brain it on! iphone and ipad puzzle game screenshot

I’ve been playing Brain It On! for years, and I still haven’t gotten bored of it. This game is a genuine puzzler and will both tickle your funny bones and tease your gray cells.

This is another physics-based puzzle requiring you to draw the solution. While it sounds easy, it isn’t by any stretch of the imagination. There are multiple ways to solve each puzzle, and each requires you to think hard.

From placing objects inside a tumbler to stopping objects from falling over by drawing the appropriate shape, there’s a variety of puzzles to check out. You can play the game at the party to see which of your friends can solve puzzles.

Each person will likely have a different way of solving a particular puzzle, making it more interesting. However, if you’re playing the free version, you might find the constant ads annoying.

Brain It On!

One of my favorite games is Brain it On ! The objective of this game is pretty simple. All you have to do is draw shapes or lines on the screen to guide a ball or multiple balls toward a designated target.

YouTube video

Sounds easy, right? You might have to think again once you start playing it. This isn’t just any other puzzle game but a physics-based problem-solving puzzle game that will make your head scratch.

As you progress through different game levels, it becomes complex and requires precise drawings and strategic thinking to get the perfect solution. When I played for the first few weeks, it took me quite some time to get a hold of the concept.

The game tests your creative side and allows you to think outside the box. The open-ended nature of the puzzles allows for multiple approaches, allowing you to experiment and unleash your creative problem-solving skills.

Build a Bridge

If you are even slightly crazy about building structures or anything related to it, Build a Bridge is here for it. This physics-based puzzle game will test your architectural skills every step of the way.

Best Puzzle Games for iPhone 1 Build a Bridge

The objective of the game is to build bridges that are able to withstand the weight and the structure of the vehicle. It could be cars, trucks, buses, and other vehicles on every level. You will be given wood, asphalt, steel, steel cable, etc., to build strong bridges.

It keeps you engaged on every level and makes you want to keep playing more levels. Every level has multiple challenges, i.e., jumping the vehicle to a certain distance, creating bridges in a given budget, and many others.

One of the best parts of this iPhone game is that the bridges and the physics behind them are highly realistic. You will have to consider multiple factors and add each material strategically. Even falling down and failing adds a learning part to the game in the end.

Cut the Rope

Do you remember this addictive game? Cut the Rope is a more than decade-old game but still one of my favorites. The game revolves around an adorable character named Om Nom that needs to be fed with candy.

YouTube video

Every level has a candy tied or handed by a rope, and your task is to strategically cut those ropes to release the candy and guide it into Om Nom’s waiting mouth. Trust me! It is not easy. If you have never played this, it will take you multiple chances to be able to grasp it.

The few levels are easy to help you understand how this physics-based game is played. As you move further up on the levels, you will come across multiple elements such as air cushions, pulleys, portals, and whatnot.

best puzzle games for iphone 2 Cut the Rope

It is all about physics at the end on every level. Once you understand it, the solution is simply one rope away from you. The character is the cutest; the game overall is challenging but addictive and perfect for keeping you hooked.

Good Sudoku by Zach Gage

We all had played Sudoku before, either in newspapers when we had no smartphones or on our keypad phones. However, you might have never come across the newly designed Good Sudoku by Zach Gage .

Jigsaw Puzzles – Puzzle Games

It is not easy to keep buying puzzle board games every now and then. Hence, the Jigsaw Puzzles on your iPhone might do the job for you. This game is addictive, and you can spend hours playing on this.

Monument Valley 2

Monument Valley 2 is the sequel to the original Monument Valley, released back in 2014. The game is all about picturesque and magical architecture, mesmerizing aesthetics, and other unique gameplay experiences you may have never seen before.

YouTube video

The game revolves around a Mother (Ro) and Daughter duo that unravels the mysteries of these structures and pathways. Every level has been crafted with a precision that showcases geometric shapes, optical illusions, and vibrant hues.

This isn’t only a puzzle game with a set of aesthetics, but it will take you on an emotional journey with Ro and her daughter. It shows love, sacrifice, and a beautiful bond between the two. You are asked to manipulate the environment and guide the two on different paths.

Best Puzzle Games for iPhone 5 Monument Valley 2

Not only is it visually stunning with optical illusions, but also the soundtrack on every level speaks volumes and keeps you intrigued all throughout. It sure is a paid game, but worth spending every penny.

Slayaway Camp – Free 2 Slay

The Slayaway Camp – Free 2 Slay is a dream come true for all horror-movie lovers. Your mission is to play the role of a horror movie villain and navigate through levels to scare and eliminate unsuspecting victims.

Slayaway Camp - Free 2 Slay

Sounds unbelievable, right? Wait till you start playing it, and you will never look back. Did I say it was free to play the game? Yes, it is. At every level, you will be given a scene or a videotape, and your goal is to figure out how to approach and scare the innocent victims in the right order.

There are 10 horrifying videotapes to play with and 3 additional ones as a bonus. There are multiple obstacles, cops, swat teams, land mines, and so many others you can make use of. The graphics are not your usual HD games; rather give the retro-style 80’s vibes.

You can even unlock different creepy killers, each with their own unique style and gory animations, such as stalker, masked psycho, and others.

The Room Three

The Room Three gives you the intriguing puzzle-solving experience of a lifetime. This is the third installment of the award-winning series where you can delve into the world of mystery and suspense.

YouTube video

You will come across intricately designed rooms filled with mystery puzzles, hidden objects, and so much more for you to explore. The major goal of the game is to figure out different clues and puzzles in the room through tactile interactions, logical thinking, and clear observation.

The best part of this game is how each room has been designed with exquisite detail on every single item you will find. The attention to detail in the visuals and the atmospheric sound design make it worth spending money on buying the subscription.

The controls are straightforward, through which you can solve mysteries and manipulate different objects lying about. You can get hints to be able to progress further. Furthermore, you can even share your achievements with your friends.

Where’s My Water? 2

One of the most addictive gameplays you will ever come across. Where’s My Water? 2 will take you on a watery adventure where you will meet the most adorable characters and brilliant puzzles for an experience like never before.

YouTube video

The game revolves around three characters, i.e., Swampy, Allie, and Cranky. You need to dig paths for water to reach these characters using multiple methods. It does sound like the easiest game you have ever played. However, this is only true for the first few levels.

There are over 100+ puzzles and challenges that you can keep playing and might never get bored of. Also, you must put your strategic thinking to work and precise timing to get the best output.

Not only is it a light-hearted game, but also the characters bring a storyline that will keep you hooked. Furthermore, you can collect Power-ups and other collectibles that will aid your gameplay or can simply be used to enjoy yourself.

Lara Croft Go

Have you played the popular Tomb Raider franchise, or have you heard about it? Well , Lara Croft Go is a part of the franchise that has been awarded multiple awards for being the best game when it was launched years back.

YouTube video

This game has the most stunning visuals and will capture your eyes too, while you uncover ancient mysteries. You have to play the game based on your turn, with a mind-bending storyline to immerse you in the gameplay. Each level is a cleverly designed puzzle that demands logical thinking and problem-solving skills.

You will see it all, from the sound of the footsteps walking through the ruins of an ancient civilization to collecting ancient relics. It has 7 characters with 115 puzzles that allow you to unlock new outfits and other levels.

There are multiple challenges that are aligned with the regular gaming experience. You can unlock multiple bonuses, Time trials, and many more. Although this is a decade-old game, it still captures your mind as the rest of the games in the franchise did.

The Gardens Between

The Gardens Between uses the concept of bending the rules of space and time. It revolves around how two friends, Arina and Frendt, manipulate time to solve the most intricate puzzles. Above all, you will be a part of the story where the scenery is stunning and everything else in it.

YouTube video

Time manipulation can be used to control the flow of time, whether you are looking to take it forward or change things in the past. Each level is filled with art that speaks colors, animations, and above all, skill.

Also, the controls are user-friendly, making it a highly immersive game. You might have to pay a small fee to download and play the game though.

Did you find the right game for you? It can be difficult to choose since all of these are equally exceptional. However, this guide consists of some of my favorites that you might like as well, such as Sudoku and Cut the Rope.

Most of the games are free of cost, and you can easily download it on your iPhone. Some have paid subscriptions but are worth the money spent.

In the meantime, you can also check out these crossword apps to download on your smartphone!

Best Puzzle Games for iPhone and iPad in 2022

top problem solving games iphone

Puzzle games are the chameleons of the gaming world. They can adopt the flair of an RPG, disguise themselves as an adventure game, and even hide in plain sight as a minimalist game. Puzzle games are always different, and they can vary from extremely complex to super simple.

A great puzzle game will keep you entertained for hours as you try (and a lot of times fail) to progress in the game. You may get frustrated, you may put down your iPhone or iPad in anger, but the game will keep you coming back for more because you sure as hell aren't going to let a game get the best of you. The sheer force of will required to continue you in a well-crafted puzzle game is something a lot of gamers have a love-hate relationship with, but there's no denying its power. Here are my top picks for the best puzzle games for iPhone and iPad.

Red's Kingdom

Monument valley.

  • Slayaway Camp

Ultra Flow 2

You must build a boat.

  • Photographs

Donut County

Lumino city.

Red's Kingdom on iPad

Red's Kingdom is a perfectly crafted adventure puzzle game that has a lot of depth. The goofy but heartwarming story with its colorful characters is bound to grab your attention, and the incredibly fun gameplay never seems to go stale as the game layers in plenty of elements to surprise you at every turn.

Red's Kingdom opens the doors to its world and allows you to take non-linear paths giving you the opportunity to explore different areas and find alternate routes to hidden treasures. Although it's a puzzle game at its core, the game feels more like an action-adventure game than anything else. I can't recommend Red's Kingdom enough .

The Room on iPad

I couldn't make a list of best puzzle games without including the super creepy puzzler The Room 3. The entire Room series is worth a download, but The Room 3 is especially fun If you enjoyed playing Myst back in the day.

The Room offers complex box-related puzzles along with an atmospheric storyline and unsettling clues to the reality behind the madness. The visuals are outstanding, and the soundtrack is just as spooky as everything else, playing The Room 3 is a full experience.

Another puzzler with eerie visuals and a compelling tale, Monument Valley offers a variety of 3D maps to conquer — all while transporting you into a strange world of crows, block creatures, and breathtaking Escher-style landscapes.

Monument Valley has been praised by critics and player alike, earning accolades such as Apple's Game of the Year 2014 and the Apple Design Award 2014. Plus, the game has over 20,000 ratings and holds a 4.5 rating overall.

Once you're done with the original, don't miss out on the critically-acclaimed follow-up, Monument Valley 2 ($5) .

Slayaway Camp (17+)

top problem solving games iphone

Slayaway Camp is a morbidly funny take on the puzzle genre that tasks you with going on a killing spree, and no one you meet is safe!

You'll need to slide around each scene and murder your victims in a particular order to reach the portal to advance to the next area. With plenty of obstacles such as fire pits, open water, and cops, you'll need to be smart during your rampage.

Taking its inspiration from classic 80s horror films, the violence in this game is over-the-top, extremely fake, and incredibly funny.

top problem solving games iphone

A film-noir inspired comic book adventure, FRAMED is a unique puzzle game with great visuals to boot and compelling story to boot!

The story is told in comic book form with panels, but they are all jumbled up, and you'll need to put them in the right order to progress forward.

The comic book art is stunning, and all hand-crafted, and the mysterious storyline will keep you glued to the game for hours.

Once you're done with FRAMED, make sure to grab the sequel, FRAMED 2 ($5) for even more graphic novel panel puzzle solving.

The matching game that started a 2048-clone phenomenon, Threes brought smarts (and some great background music) to the puzzling genre.

Threes may be a game comprised of numbers, but you need no real mathematical skill to excel at this game — just an open mind and a penchant for thinking ahead.

Best of all, you can always find new paths to pursue, new tricks to test, and new methods for matching; the game is always different, though the numbers remain the same.

Ultra Flow 2's simplicity is probably its greatest strength. The game has a fun and engaging soundtrack and focuses more on hand-eye coordination than serious brainpower.

That being said, it's still not easy. It's in the sweet spot: challenging enough that your mind gets a workout, but easy enough that you're never stuck on the same level for longer than a handful of cracks at it.

If you need a game to help you relax after a long day, Prune may be the perfect puzzler for you.

Prune tasks you with cutting trees in different patterns to reach the sunlight, all while avoiding the dangers of the world around. Its minimalist design and very limited color scheme allow you to focus in on the game in a very relaxing way, making it perfect to help you unwind.

Do you ever look at your city's public transportation and think you could design it better? Well, Mini Metro will let you try to create your own subway system.

Minimalist in design but complex in its mind-boggling puzzles, Mini Metro provides hours of fun — even if for some of those hours you will be scratching your head.

YMBAB

You Must Build A Boat takes the classic formula of match-three and combines it with a challenging and frantic RPG, with a dash of endless runner and building.

Embark on a journey of battling monsters and getting them to join your ranks as you recruit them for your boat, which grows bigger and bigger with every conquest. Battle by matching blocks in groups of three or more to attack, defend, cast magic spells, unlock chests, and more. Watch as your boat continues to grow, and as more creatures join your ranks and offer valuable services and upgrades. And since your matches can be chained, the possibilities for huge combos can be done.

You Must Build A Boat is one of my favorite match-three RPGs ever, and it's well worth picking up. You won't regret it.

Photographs - Puzzle Stories

Photographs

From the same guy who brought you YMBAB, comes a new puzzle game that focuses on the narrative. Say hello to Photographs.

Photographs is an interesting one because you'll be searching around and solving puzzles, but as you do, you'll uncover and hear a story to go along with each scene. And not only will you be immersed by the captivating stories, but the beautiful pixel art and music pair along with the narratives so perfectly.

Each story takes place in a different setting and will feature unique gameplay mechanics. And while the game is fairly short (only takes about three hours to complete), it's an experience that you need to try out.

Gorogoa

If you like the panel puzzle concept like FRAMED, then you'll get a kick out of Gorogoa as well.

The gameplay of Gorogoa is interesting and fairly unique. You'll have several hand-drawn panels that you need to arrange and combine in order to solve the puzzles they contain. It's simple but complex at the same time. The art is also beautiful, and everything becomes animated once you figure it out. The entire concept of Gorogoa is something you've not seen before in other puzzle games, so it's definitely an experience you should check out if you're a puzzle fan.

Donut County

Donut County is one of the most quirky and interesting puzzle gams you'll come across. Think of reverse Katamari Damacy.

Meet BK, the raccoon. He has a device that creates donut holes in the ground, which basically helps him steal trash in order to win stupid prizes. One day, he ends up falling into one of his own holes and finds his best friend, Mira, along with other Donut County residents, such 999 feet underground. They demand answers!

The gameplay of Donut County involves exploring the home of each character, who also have their own distinctive stories to tell. You'll move the hole around to swallow up their stuff, and the hole grows as you get more trash in it. You can combine items for fun effects, and catapult things out of the hole if needed. Sometimes you'll have to in order to solve the puzzles that await you.

It's a puzzle game, though it doesn't always feel that way. After all, you are controlling a big old hole in the ground and devouring everything that's in the way. Honestly, what else do you need in a game?

ELOH

This puzzle game will help you find your groove and relax at the same time.

ELOH is a musical puzzle game that's all about finding the right position for the blocks to help guide the balls into the correct holes. As you progress through the game, the puzzles get a bit harder, but they all have one thing in common: rhythm. The blocks that you'll need to move also take on more creative shapes and forms and some can only move in a certain way. The game looks beautiful, has over 90 stages, and there's no time limits or other stress factors. Just find your rhythm and solve the puzzles. No stress or in-app purchases!

Lumino City

If you're into beautiful games that look as good as they play, then you must get Lumino City. It was painstakingly hand-crafted from real-life paper, cardboard, miniature lights, and motors to create a wonderful little world that we can all interact with.

Lumi's grandfather has been kidnapped from Lumino City, and it's up to you to help Lumi explore the city to find out what happened to her grandfather. The city is full of realistic puzzles that are all connected and intertwined together, and you can interact with everything through simple touch controls.

The game is a bit long in the tooth at this point, but it's still a must-have in our book.

Loco Looper

Why you can trust TechRadar We spend hours testing every product or service we review, so you can be sure you’re buying the best. Find out more about how we test.

($3.99/£3.49/AU$5.99)

Loco Looper is a puzzle game that invites you to construct loops of train track on tiny 3D worlds. The game’s a visual treat, with a captivating pen-and-ink style and tiny landscapes that shift as you tilt your iPhone. Mostly, though, you’ll be hooked by the gameplay.

Initially, you start out with basic track pieces you draw by dragging a finger, tapping to remove and swap out individual components. Over time, the complexity ramps up, with new challenges and pieces that demand you craft increasingly labyrinthine routes within the claustrophobic landscapes.

Smartly, the game’s flexible enough later on to allow multiple solutions – although only by using every piece of track will you win the level’s star. Bar slightly fiddly controls that make speedruns tricky, Loco Looper is a delightful train-themed puzzler that’s on track to be a mobile classic.

A screenshot showing Ghosts and Apples Mobile on iPhone

Ghosts and Apples Mobile

($1.99/£1.79/AU$2.99)

Ghosts and Apples Mobile finds a kid nosily poking around a house, only to be hurled headlong into a Burtonesque nightmare full of oddball horrors. Also: ghosts. Many, many ghosts.

Your only means of escape is to capture said ghosts and match them against their trapped cohorts at the side of the screen, whereupon they turn into apples, obviously, because video games. Oh, and this all has to be done at a frantic pace to unlock further levels.

In effect, this is like those games where you prod left or right to match the next item in a sequence, only here you’re tapping four corners. That doubling of load exponentially increases the game’s difficulty, but Ghosts and Apples proves to be a relentlessly fun juggling act, full of color, character, and varied challenges.

A screenshot showing In My Shadow on iPhone

In My Shadow

($4.99/£4.49/AU$8.99)

In My Shadow features a young woman full of regret – and being hard on herself about her past. She revisits memories as shadows projected onto walls of a childhood home. Your aim is to help her grab collectables before temporarily connecting with a shadow family member.

The story is uneven and the cutscene visuals are crude, but the core gameplay is compelling. You first manipulate objects to adjust shadows, in a manner similar to Shadowmatic . But instead of building a recognizable shape, you’re designing a route for a brief bout of 2D platforming.

This mix of genres is compelling, with you darting back and forth between puzzle and arcade action, making subtle changes to set-up, in the hope of reaching your goals.

Screenshots showing Railroad Ink Challenge

Railroad Ink Challenge

($3.99/£3.99/AU$6.99)

Railroad Ink Challenge is somewhat reminiscent of Ticket To Ride if that board game was played in a shoebox. You get a seven-by-seven grid featuring road and rail exits at its edge. During each round, dice are rolled, providing you with component parts of a network to place. The aim is to make long routes and avoid points-sapping errors.

Where the game perfectly aligns with mobile is in its brevity. At just seven rounds long, each session takes only a matter of minutes. Yet there’s plenty of space for you to improve your tactics and high scores – especially in modes that utilize bonus squares, such as universities and factories. There is a challenge option for taking on friends in asynchronous play, but Railroad Ink Challenge is best enjoyed as a standout mobile solo puzzler.

A screenshot showing Baba Is You

Baba Is You

($6.99/£6.99/AU$10.99)

Baba Is You is a puzzle game in which you constantly change the rules in order to fashion a solution. It plays out like a Sokoban block-pusher, only the landscape is littered with words and object names. Fashion a sentence from these blocks and everything can change in an instant.

For example, you can change your controllable character by placing an object type in front of ‘is you’, or transform all the walls to flags by placing the word ‘flag’ after ‘wall is.’ This is simultaneously disarming, devious and delightful.

Early gentle levels soon give way to tougher tests, but the game never stops being relentlessly grin-inducing as you figure out solutions – however convoluted your path. The touch controls are pitch-perfect too. Superb stuff.

Blask 2

($2.99/£2.99/AU$4.49)

Blask 2 tasks you with blasting targets with lasers. Games of this ilk usually pepper the screen with mirrors, having you rotate them to achieve your goals. Here, levels instead comprise puzzle pieces with mirrored walls. You must figure out how to move and combine them, in order to succeed.

This is, we must note, a game that sometimes relies heavily on trial and error. Initially, you won’t always know how a level breaks apart. Strategic, tactical thinking is possible to a degree, but quite often you’ll solve a level by mistake.

However, because Blask 2 is such a joyfully tactile and responsive experience, it’s wonderful to play around with. Sure, it can be frustrating when you can’t figure out how to solve a level. But as a puzzler with a properly physical element and that actively rewards messing around, it’s hard to beat.

Song of Bloom

Song of Bloom

($1.99/£1.99/AU$2.99)

Song of Bloom is an iPhone game that plays with the conventions of narrative and games. Ostensibly a puzzler with a smattering of hidden object smarts, you work through the game by spotting clues, and later drawing them on to the screen at the appropriate moment; but the second you start experiencing Song of Bloom, you immediately recognize it’s far more.

At its heart, it’s a story. Fragmented but meaningful, it tasks you as the viewer with formulating its whole in your mind. And as you do, scenes you explore bring to mind everything from classical abstract art to modern digital visual manipulation.

It’s clever without being over the top, and impactful without being too knowing. If you had to place Song of Bloom alongside other apps, there are echoes of Simogo’s The Sailor’s Dream, and breakout hit Florence; but this title’s very much its own thing.

Spring Falls

Spring Falls

($3.99/£3.99/AU$5.99)

Spring Falls is a unique puzzle experience, set on a geometric mountainside. Its various challenges are based around erosion, and task you with manipulating the landscape to bring wildflowers to life. This is essentially achieved by eroding (that is, swiping down on) sections of rock, which enables water to reach the thirsty plants.

This isn’t a game that holds your hand. You’re expected to figure out the various rules, and how this strange, angular ecosystem works. But Spring Falls is also a game that wants to engage you and be played, not frustrate you, so it encourages rather than punishes experimentation, giving you unlimited time and undos to play.

There are 60 levels in all. That will likely amount to several hours of serene but often tricky puzzling that’s a bit different from anything you’ve ever played before.

Path of Giants

Path of Giants

Path of Giants is a sweet-natured puzzle game with a penchant for path-finding. It features three chums dressed for the cold – although they’re frankly not well prepared for anything else.

They lack climbing gear, for a start, which is a bit of a problem when they’re faced with massive walls and perilous drops between them and their goals. Fortunately, these chums are happy enough to plonk their bottoms on the ground and let others clamber all over them to reach higher ground.

Gradually, other mechanics are introduced, like landscape-shifting switches and gigantic windmill contraptions for sailing across ravines. It’s never exactly brain-smashing, but with nods to some of the best puzzlers around – Monument Valley; Lara Croft GO – Path of Giants is nonetheless a thoroughly rewarding experience.

Rooms: The Toymaker’s Mansion

Rooms: The Toymaker’s Mansion

($4.99/£4.99/AU$7.99)

Rooms: The Toymaker’s Mansion follows the adventures of a young girl who – unfortunately for her – ends up locked within the mansion of a toymaker. We say ‘unfortunately’ because the toymaker is a lunatic who’s transformed the dwelling into a building-sized puzzle packed full of deadly traps.

The game more or less plays out as a sliding puzzler. The section of room you’re standing in can be moved into empty spaces. You need to get yourself to a key, and then to the exit – preferably before you’re attacked by a vicious exploding puppet, or get blown up by a bomb.

Although a tiny bit squint-inducing on an iPhone, Rooms is well worth a download. It looks great, and the control method affords immediacy, but the devious puzzles will keep you scratching your head for days.

The Witness

The Witness

($9.99/£9.99/AU$14.99)

The Witness echos classic puzzle adventures like Myst. You emerge from a metal tunnel onto a lush island. You’ve no idea why you’re there – and the game isn’t saying. This wordless effort leaves you to figure out what’s going on.

What you do know is there are puzzles everywhere – maze and logic tests linked by massive lengths of piping. Learn the game’s ‘vocabulary’ and you can work yourself deeper into the island’s mysteries, eventually cracking the secrets of a distant mountain.

On iPhone’s smaller display, some of the visual spectacle is less dazzling, and interactions are more fiddly than on other systems. But for a game on the go, The Witness showcases the sheer clout and capabilities of modern iPhone gaming, and iCloud support means you can always continue your efforts on iPad.

Photographs - Puzzle Stories

Photographs - Puzzle Stories

Photographs - Puzzle Stories wraps familiar puzzle tropes around emotionally charged narratives – or perhaps it’s the other way around. Either way, the combination in this unique game sucks you in and never lets go.

Each of the five vignettes slowly reveals its tale, alternating voiceovers and basic animated scenes with you searching a screen for clues, and then brief puzzle sections. The last of those cleverly shift and change as the narrative demands, ensuring Photographs is a coherent whole.

This all makes for a surprising and rewarding game. What you won’t be prepared for, though, is the hard-hitting nature of the stories, which pull on the heart-strings as you work your way to the bittersweet ending. It’s an excellent game that shows puzzlers can do far more than just test your brainpower.

Snakebird Primer

Snakebird Primer

($7.99/£7.99/AU$12.99)

Snakebird Primer is a turn-based puzzler that has you direct worm-like birds around levitating islands. They need to get to a swirling rainbow goal; but often the gaps between bits of land are too big, resulting in the grumpy burping avians ending up in the drink – or getting horribly spiked.

So you need to figure out paths, which often involves multiple birds working together. Eating fruit lengthens a bird, potentially enabling it to reach a ledge, or become a bridge for another. On quite a few levels, Tetris-style blocks appear – to help and hinder.

Snakebird Primer feels right at home on iPhone. It’s colorful, and the challenges tease your brain without smacking it too hard. But if you do get to the end and want a much sterner test, there’s always the vicious, unforgiving and equally brilliant Snakebird .

Pipe Push Paradise

Pipe Push Paradise

Pipe Push Paradise sends you to a desert island, but not to the beach. Nope – you’re there to sort out the island’s dreadful plumbing disasters. This involves moving massive pipes around confined angular rooms, aiming to make connections that get water flowing once again.

It echoes box-shoving games, but adds some ideas of its own. Pipes can be rotated and dropped into pits – and sometimes you’ll consider yourself victorious, but then realize your little character can’t get back out of the room, thereby forcing you to rethink.

On iPhone, the controls are a touch fiddly, but infinite undos ensure errors don’t frustrate, while also giving you space to experiment. With multiple challenges unlocked at any given time, this is a puzzler where you’ll want to plumb the depths.

Chuchel

Chuchel is a very strange experience that sits somewhere between trial-and-error logic game and decidedly oddball animation. The premise involves a ball of angry fluff who’s desperate to devour a cherry. Unfortunately for the hairball hero, it’s snatched away by a giant hand after every hard-fought victory.

Actually, ‘logic game’ might be stretching things a bit. Ultimately, you’re tapping hotspots, seeing how things play out, and trying to crack the sequence that will temporarily get Chuchel his fruity prize.

This can be a bit of a grind, given that you may end up seeing a canned animation several times before cracking a level; but it’s hard to stay mad at a game that has so much to give in terms of charm, surprise, energy, and flat-out imaginative weirdness.

Where Shadows Slumber

Where Shadows Slumber

Where Shadows Slumber is a puzzle adventure featuring an old man with a mysterious lantern. Its special power is to change the landscape when shadows are cast on it, transforming treacherous drops into bridges, and blocked passages into doorways.

Much of this is a logic test, with you needing to figure out how to build a path to an exit, sometimes with the help of lights you can switch on and off, or people that march back and forth, triggering switches. The mechanics are engaging, as is the minimal yet vibrant art style.

There’s also a story underpinning your adventures, which has moments as dark as the shadows that are cast. If nothing else, though, these shocking moments only make you root for the protagonist more, and urge you to help him to victory.

Evergarden

Evergarden

Evergarden is a gorgeous puzzler underpinned by an emotionally charged narrative adventure. The main game echoes Threes! and Triple Town, in being about merging elements on a board to boost your score. Only here, you’re combining plants into new forms, and having them strategically spit out seeds between rounds.

The game has a great sense of rhythm, and stunning visuals that make everything shine on the iPhone’s screen. It’s also layered, gradually revealing new ideas as you play. Early on, animal companion Fen will demand you match provided patterns to increase your score; within the adventure, you acquire new skills, and must strategically apply them within the main challenges.

In all, Evergarden is a distinctive, beautifully realized treat – even if you think you’ve already got quite enough mobile puzzlers installed on your device.

With the vast selection of puzzle games to choose from in the Apple App Store , it's sometimes hard to not feel paralyzed by choice. Here's a list of the best puzzle apps for iPhone and iPad to help you out.

These games are available for the iOS platform . Check individual app requirements to make sure they are compatible with your device. If you are wondering if you can play Android games on an iPhone , here's why you can't.

Best Tetris Tribute: 1010!

Enjoyable, slightly less frantic pace than Tetris.

Simple and appealing design.

Addictive gameplay.

Must pay to remove ads.

Shares data about you with advertisers.

Occasional crashes.

Tetris is undoubtedly the most popular puzzle video game of all time . Even after all these years, it's rare to find a new game that plays tribute to Tetris while providing something unique, but 1010! accomplishes this seemingly impossible feat.

A less panicked game than its loose inspiration, 1010! challenges players to position Tetris -style shapes in a 10x10 grid. If you form a complete line, that line disappears and creates more space, which you use to make more lines. Don't let the slow pace of 1010! fool you; without practice, you can quickly find yourself rushing headfirst into a game over.

Most Visually Stunning: Monument Valley 1 & 2

Beautiful game visuals.

Expansions to continue gameplay.

Challenging and surprising puzzles.

Storyline is simple and not very deep.

Sequel is an incremental improvement over the original.

If you like puzzle games that are dripping with style, substance, and a sense of discovery, Monument Valley has everything you're looking for. This Escher-inspired puzzle tells the story of Ida, a princess in a world of impossible geometry. You explore and discover her world as she does, guiding her through stairwells and doorways as you poke, prod, and move the environment to help her progress.

Monument Valley is a thing of beauty that tells its story without words. Maybe that's why it's taken home awards such as the BAFTA Award for Mobile & Handheld Games, the Apple Design Award, and the IMGA Grand Prix prize.

Best Card Game for iOS: Pair Solitaire

Simple gameplay, but requires strategy.

Free (with in-game purchases).

Attractive card designs.

Ad volume can be loud.

Lacks overall polish.

If it seems strange to see an iOS card game included in a list of great puzzle apps, that's because you haven't played Pair Solitaire yet. The debut release from Vitalii Zlotskii, who also released Domino Drop , Pair Solitaire asks players to do something seemingly simple: Match pairs of cards.

The challenge comes from having to match pairs that are separated by just one card, and such matches only remove one of the cards in the pair. So if you have two hearts, you only remove the one you touch. If you have two kings, it's the same story. The goal is to clear as many cards from a standard deck of 52 as possible before you run out of moves.

Most Zen Puzzle App: Prune

Visually gorgeous.

Unique puzzle gameplay.

Sync games between devices to continue play.

Not enough levels.

Later levels are more action oriented.

Making fine changes can be hard on small screens.

Are you looking for an experience that somehow manages to balance tranquility with progressive difficulty? If so, Prune is the tree-trimming puzzle that will help you find bliss. It's a game about helping tree branches grow and find sunlight so that they can flower as nature intended. To accomplish this, you neatly nip off new branches that are growing in the wrong direction and steer your tree around different obstacles.

Most Atmospheric Puzzler: The Room (Series)

Fireproof Games

Very atmospheric with great music.

High-quality visuals.

Intuitive but challenging gameplay and puzzles.

Limited replayability.

Story is secondary to the game.

Controls can be tedious.

In the The Room , players explore elaborate puzzle boxes that can only be opened by uncovering switches, levers, and unseen mechanisms hidden behind intricate brain teasers. Each box requires a variety of solutions to advance the spooky narrative. The Room is sopping with atmosphere thanks to the creepy music and visuals. If you like the first one, then you'll definitely enjoy the sequels.

Best Memory Game for iOS: Rules!

Three difficulty modes.

Clever and engaging memory game.

Great visual design and quality.

Memory intensive gameplay may not be enjoyable for some.

Time limits are frustrating.

Rules! is a game about following the rules. You must follow all   the rules in the order you received them, only in reverse. If it's starting to sound complicated, that's because it is.

Rules! tests your memory and reflexes in a way no other app does. Each round asks you to clear certain tiles using a specific rule, and then the following round asks you to do the same and introduces a new rule. You'll need to remember all of the rules in reverse order if you want to see your way to the end.

Challenge Your Imagination: Scribblenauts Remix

Good vocabulary building game for kids.

Word Pass in-app purchase expands puzzles to 140.

Clues help when you're stuck.

Combines content from previous two games.

In-app purchases required to expand the game and add avatars.

Outside-the-box thinking can make puzzles too easy.

A game where the only limit is your imagination, Scribblenauts Remix asks players to dream up their own solutions to 50 puzzles pulled from the best levels of Scribblenauts and Super Scribblenauts . The Word Pass upgrade (which requires an in-app purchase) increases the number of levels to more than 140.

What do imagination-based puzzles look like? Imagine you need to get a star down from a tree. You could give your avatar an ax to chop the tree down, or a ladder to climb to the top. If you can think it, and you can type it, Scribblenauts Remix can make it come true.

Fun With Numbers and Math: Threes!

Smart and fun math game.

Simple design.

Easy to pick up and play in short spurts.

Music is repetitive.

Ads for merchandise between games is disruptive.

Only one game mode.

A beautifully simple game that's accessible to all skill levels, Threes! is so good it inspired countless impersonators only weeks after its release. Threes! tasks players with sliding all the numbers on the board together in one of four directions. If two identical numbers are squished together, they create the sum of those two numbers. The goal is to keep squishing like numbers together until you run out of possible moves and tally your score.

Most Thought-provoking: Touchtone

Interesting story with twists and surprises.

Excellent writing.

Challenging puzzles.

Not much help if you're stuck.

Getting stuck interrupts the narrative.

Problematic and off-putting story elements.

TouchTone proves that a game can provide a challenging puzzle and a riveting social message. It presents you with wiggly lines that need to connect to like-colored nodes. To do this, you slide objects in rows and columns that can split and redirect the lines in different directions. They're communication lines, and as the latest citizen tasked with monitoring communication as part of your civic duty, you'll follow a tantalizing story as you determine whether what you're listening to is pertinent to protecting the country.

World of Goo

Fun and creative art design.

Award-winning physics gameplay.

Great atmosphere.

Music becomes repetitive.

Multiplayer gameplay is not compelling.

Recent update didn't add new content.

One of the App Store's early puzzle hits is still one of its best. World of Goo perfected the bridge-building style of physics-based games when it launched on the Wii and desktops, but it never felt more at home than when it came to the iPad and iPhone.

Players drag adorable, anthropomorphic balls of goo to create structures that, while wobbly, will hopefully stand the test of time. These structures are needed to help rescue other goo that are stranded just out of reach. Unique, charming, and challenging, World of Goo feels like a physics simulation designed by Dr. Seuss, making it an excellent app for kids .

Best Logic Games for iOS and Android to Test Your Brain

Logic means anything where you’ve to use your mental ability to calculate the situation and find a solution to it. While games like 2048 , Sudoku, and other crosswords are go-to games when it comes to logic. But, there are more puzzle games rather than logic games. With that said here are the best logic games on iOS & Android, to brush up your mind.

Table of Contents

Best Logic Games

1. brain training.

As the name suggests, Brain Training will put your mental ability to test. It targets skills like logic, memory. There are multiple games within the app such as the Hexa puzzle, block puzzle, Sudoku, Line puzzle, etc. I mostly play Lazer, which involves moving elements to make the laser hit the final block. The app has banner ads at the bottom with no option to remove them. All you can do is simply shut the internet while playing and you’ll have a cleaner playthrough.

It’s a great past-time app where you need a bit of logical skill, and hence great for players of any age.

The game becomes even harder as you just have a limited number of steps to hit the perfect score. There are 240 puzzles in total which unlock as you move ahead. The game comes with ads, however, you can remove it by purchasing the Premium version for $1. This also unlocks all levels and hints.

4. River Crossing

I remember this one back when Flash games were rad. The overall concept doesn’t change, as you have to move characters from one section of the river to the other with some rules and restrictions. The aim is to keep the number of moves as low as possible which opens advanced levels. There are no ads in the game, however, you need to watch a sponsored video to get hints. River Crossing is only available for Android but you can try a similar game for iOS .

River Crossing problems date back to 9th century in Latin manuscript Propositiones ad Acuendos Juvenes “Problems to Sharpen the Young”.

5.  Tricky Test 2

It took me quite some time to solve the first stage, so you can take a guess of how interesting it would be. There 111 puzzles in total, to test your logic, memory, and mental abilities. You must also know if you’re able to solve all of these within 120 minutes, which is almost impossible you’ll be crowned as a genius.  The game is free and you can see clues for each level. However, to see the solution you need coins that can be bought from the store.

For anyone who loves to think out of the box rather than conventional solutions.

All the levels are in 3D and you can interact by zooming and rotating the gameplay screen.

7. That Level Again

It’s a simple logic game and you might find a bit resemblance with the original Dave. In this game, you have to toggle, jump on platforms, and find your way through a door, by escaping pointed spikes that kill you on contact. However, unlike Dave, all the levels are the same, but the way you solve them is different. Hence, you get 80 unique ways for the same passage making it very unusual gameplay. Rebus follows a very minimal and illustrative style in the form of brain teasers. The concept of the game is simple, you have to connect an illustration with one or more alphabets and form a word. Besides normal guesswork, you also have to think about every possible outcome that it can have and probably keep guessing until you get the right answer. You receive coins for every right answer which you can use to see hints. there’s also an option to buy these coins from the setting tab.

10. Ordinary

Ordinary is a blend of Sudoku and Picross. The game just has two rules, cover each number with the same line length and covering all dots with a line. I’m sure that sounds confusing, therefore you can refer to the tutorial section in the game for more clarity. This is a free and open-source puzzle game. Hence there are no annoying ads or in-app purchases.

As the game has only one solution, no trial & error but pure logic would only work.

Hitman Go is a mobile adaptation of everyone’s favorite bald, barcoded master assassin that plays like a board game. It honestly comes as a bit of a surprise that it even exists, and it is delightful when it succeeds. Thoughts about the game’s art, aesthetics, straightforward gameplay mechanics, and adaptation of Hitman for a mobile platform were generally good.

PRESS RELEASE

The release introduces all-new customization options, the biggest-ever redesign of Photos, powerful updates for staying connected, and Apple Intelligence, the personal intelligence system

CUPERTINO, CALIFORNIA  Apple today previewed iOS 18 , a major release that features more customization options, the biggest redesign ever of the Photos app, new ways for users to manage their inbox in Mail, Messages over satellite, and so much more. Users will be able to arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, customize the buttons at the bottom of the Lock Screen, and quickly access more controls in Control Center. Photo libraries are automatically organized in a new single view in Photos, and helpful new collections keep favorites easily accessible. Mail simplifies the inbox by sorting email into categories using on-device intelligence, and all-new text effects come to iMessage. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, users can now communicate over satellite in the Messages app when a cellular or Wi-Fi connection isn’t available. 1

iOS 18 also introduces Apple Intelligence , the personal intelligence system for iPhone, iPad, and Mac that combines the power of generative models with personal context to deliver intelligence that’s incredibly useful and relevant. 2 Built with privacy from the ground up, Apple Intelligence is deeply integrated into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia. It harnesses the power of Apple silicon to understand and create language and images, take action across apps, and draw from personal context, to simplify and accelerate everyday tasks.

“We are thrilled to introduce iOS 18. It is a huge release with incredible features, including new levels of customization and capability, a redesigned Photos app, and powerful ways to stay connected with Messages. There are so many benefits for everyone,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of Software Engineering. “This release also marks the beginning of a tremendously exciting new era of personal intelligence with Apple Intelligence delivering intuitive, powerful, and instantly useful experiences that will transform the iPhone experience, all with privacy at the core. We can’t wait for users to experience it.”

iPhone users have new ways to customize the Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center. Users can now arrange apps and widgets in any open space on the Home Screen, including placing them right above the dock for easy access or perfectly framing a wallpaper. App icons and widgets can take on a new look with a dark or tinted effect, and users can make them appear larger to create the experience that is perfect for them.

Control Center has been redesigned to provide easier access to many of the things users do every day, and it gets new levels of customization and flexibility. The redesign delivers quick access to new groups of a user’s most-utilized controls, such as media playback, Home controls, and connectivity, as well as the ability to easily swipe between each. Users can now add controls from supported third-party apps into Control Center to quickly unlock a vehicle or jump right into capturing content for social media — all from one place. The new controls gallery displays the full set of available options, and users can customize how the controls are laid out, including adjusting them to the ideal size and creating entirely new groups.

For the first time, users can now switch the controls at the bottom of the Lock Screen, including choosing from options available in the controls gallery or removing them entirely. With the Action button available on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, users can quickly invoke controls available in the gallery.

Photos receives its biggest-ever redesign to help users easily find and relive special moments. A simplified, single view displays a familiar grid, and new collections help users browse by themes without having to organize content into albums. Plus, collections can be pinned to keep favorites easily accessible. A new carousel view presents highlights that update each day and feature favorite people, pets, places, and more. Autoplaying content throughout the app brings libraries to life, so past moments can be enjoyed while browsing. Because each user’s photo library is unique, the app is customizable, so users can organize collections, pin collections to access frequently, and include what’s most important to them in the carousel view.

iMessage receives all-new text effects that bring conversations to life by amplifying any letter, word, phrase, or emoji with dynamic, animated appearances. Users can better express tone by adding formatting like bold, underline, italics, and strikethrough. Tapbacks expand to include any emoji or sticker, and now users can compose a message and schedule to send it at a later time.

When messaging contacts who do not have an Apple device, the Messages app now supports RCS for richer media and more reliable group messaging compared to SMS and MMS.

iOS 18 introduces Messages via satellite for the times when cellular and Wi-Fi connections aren’t available. Powered by the same groundbreaking technology as existing iPhone satellite capabilities, Messages via satellite automatically prompts users to connect to their nearest satellite right from the Messages app to send and receive texts, emoji, and Tapbacks over iMessage and SMS. 3 With Dynamic Island, users always know when they are connected to a satellite. Because iMessage was built to protect user privacy, iMessages sent via satellite are end-to-end encrypted.

Later this year, Mail will introduce new ways for users to manage their inbox and stay up to date. On-device categorization organizes and sorts incoming email into Primary for personal and time-sensitive emails, Transactions for confirmations and receipts, Updates for news and social notifications, and Promotions for marketing emails and coupons. Mail also features a new digest view that pulls together all of the relevant emails from a business, allowing users to quickly scan for what’s important in the moment.

Safari, the world’s fastest browser, 4 now offers an even easier way to discover information on the web with Highlights and a redesigned Reader experience. Using machine learning, Safari can surface key information about a webpage. For example, users can review a summary to get the gist of an article; quickly see the location of a restaurant, hotel, or landmark; or listen to an artist’s track right from an article about the song or album. Reader has been redesigned to offer even more ways to enjoy articles without distraction, with a summary and table of contents included for longer articles.

Building on the foundation of Keychain, which was first introduced more than 25 years ago, the new Passwords app makes it easy for users to access their passwords, passkeys, Wi-Fi passwords, and verification codes. The app also includes alerts for users regarding common weaknesses, such as passwords that are easily guessed or used multiple times and those that appear in known data leaks.

iOS 18 gives users even more control with tools to manage who can see their apps, how contacts are shared, and how their iPhone connects to accessories.

Locked and hidden apps offer users peace of mind that information they want to keep private, such as app notifications and content, will not inadvertently be seen by others. Users can now lock an app; and for additional privacy, they can hide an app, moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder. When an app is locked or hidden, content like messages or emails inside the app are hidden from search, notifications, and other places across the system.

iOS 18 puts users in control by letting them choose to share only specific contacts with an app. In addition, developers now have a way to seamlessly connect third-party accessories with iPhone without letting an app see all the other devices on a user’s network, keeping a user’s devices private and making pairing seamless.

Deeply integrated into iOS 18 and built with privacy from the ground up, Apple Intelligence unlocks new ways for users to enhance their writing and communicate more effectively. With brand-new systemwide Writing Tools built into iOS 18, users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps.

New image capabilities make communication and self-expression even more fun. With Image Playground, users can create playful images in seconds, choosing from three styles: Animation, Illustration, or Sketch. Image Playground is easy to use, built right into apps like Messages, and also available in a dedicated app.

Memories in Photos lets users create the stories they want to see just by typing a description. Apple Intelligence will pick out the best photos and videos based on the description, craft a storyline with chapters based on themes identified from the photos, and arrange them into a movie with its own narrative arc. In addition, a new Clean Up tool can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo — without accidentally altering the subject.

With the power of Apple Intelligence, Siri takes a major step forward, becoming even more natural, contextually relevant, and personal. Users can type to Siri, and switch between text and voice to communicate with Siri in whatever way feels right for the moment.

With Private Cloud Compute, Apple sets a new standard for privacy in AI, with the ability to flex and scale computational capacity between on-device processing, and larger, server-based models that run on dedicated Apple silicon servers. When requests are routed to Private Cloud Compute, data is not stored or made accessible to Apple and is only used to fulfill the user’s requests, and independent experts can verify this privacy.

Additionally, access to ChatGPT is integrated into Siri and systemwide Writing Tools across Apple’s platforms, allowing users to access its expertise — as well as its image- and document-understanding capabilities — without needing to jump between tools.

Additional features in iOS 18 include:

With iOS 18 , Apple is adding Game Mode to iPhone . A similar Game Mode was added to macOS Sonoma last year, and the same performance-enhancing features apply, according to Apple.

Apple says Game Mode also improves the responsiveness of connected AirPods and game controllers by reducing input latency and audio latency.

There's nothing to set up with Game Mode – it turns on automatically when you launch a game or an app associated with a game, as indicated by a brief notification.

That's a shame. I feel like AAA gaming on the iPhone 15 Pro has largely been a PR excercise. From all the YouTube analyses I've seen (Digital Foundry, Andrew Tsai, MrMacRight) games like Resident Evil, Assassin's Creed and Death Stranding really struggle to reach 30 fps on the iPhone Pro and even on the iPad it seems like M2 is needed to get consistent 30 fps out of these games (the minimum that is really needed). Perhaps the A18 chip will be the M2 iPad equivalent so a consistent 30 fps becomes possible on iPhone.
