How Is the ALEKS Test Scored?

Each college student begins a course with different needs and levels of comprehension. ALEKS is an online adaptive learning platform that uses artificial intelligence to continuously assess and improve students’ prerequisite knowledge. For courses in science, mathematics, and business, ALEKS has a measurable impact on learning. To date, ALEKS has assisted more than 20 million students at thousands of K-12 schools, colleges, and universities worldwide. With ALEKS educators can:

ALEKS will quickly help teachers identify learning gaps, personalized learning pathways, and student learning progress and mastery. Proven ALEKS technology can be integrated with any system, anywhere, and on any device.

The evaluation consists of 25 to 30 questions and the average completion time is about 90 minutes. You will have 48 hours to complete the assessment. If not completed within this time, the evaluation will be unavailable and ALEKS will offer a new evaluation.

The result of your ALEKS (overall score) is a number between 0 and 100. This represents the percentage of topics that ALEKS has identified as your mastery. ALEKS scores of 30 or higher indicate adequate preparation for college-level mathematics . ALEKS scores cannot be interpreted as test scores.

Core Curriculum​

ALEKS precisely identifies each student’s knowledge and delivers targeted instruction on the topics each student is most ready to learn. As students work through the course using their personalized learning path, they receive immediate feedback, have access to detailed explanations, and are periodically reassessed for retention. Through this continuous cycle of learning and assessment, ALEKS effectively targets knowledge gaps and ensures mastery of course material.​

Students can use ALEKS for additional practice, to reinforce the topics covered in class, to fill in knowledge gaps from previous courses, to advance at their own pace, or for homework outside of the classroom. ALEKS can be easily introduced as a supplement through optional features including course customization, textbook integration, and printable worksheets. Additionally, you can create and schedule your own quizzes and assessments. These features allow you to seamlessly integrate ALEKS into your existing curriculum and syllabus.​

Special Education

ALEKS can be used effectively for special education to provide each student with a personalized learning path, with targeted instruction on the exact topics each student is most ready to learn. This innovative approach minimizes frustration, enables learning momentum, and builds confidence. Additionally, ALEKS offers a dedicated report that provides detailed student data to support the creation and maintenance of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), including each student's Present Levels of Performance and progress toward IEP goals.​

ALEKS courses can be used to provide a challenging curriculum for students working above grade level. Through personalized instruction on Ready to Learn Topics, ALEKS allows students to progress independently through higher-level math content at their own pace. Additionally, students can advance through multiple courses at no additional cost.

College and Career Readiness

Credit Recovery

ALEKS offers a credit recovery solution in math. ALEKS quickly identifies which topics students are struggling with and provides targeted instruction on the exact topics the student is most ready to learn. As a result, ALEKS quickly fills any knowledge gaps, while periodically reassessing to ensure retention; this leads to mastery of the math skills students need to pass the course and regain lost credits. Because ALEKS is computer-based, students are provided with an alternative to the traditional classroom format, allowing them another chance to succeed.​

Afterschool

ALEKS provides a math solution for any afterschool program. Students can work in ALEKS to reinforce topics learned in class, fill in any knowledge gaps, progress at their own pace, or review previously learned topics in preparation for a test. Through individualized learning and assessment, ALEKS strengthens students’ math skills and builds confidence.Additionally, ALEKS QuickTables provides fun practice for basic math facts and can be used for 15-minute sessions, three times per week in an afterschool setting.​

Summer School

ALEKS can be used throughout the summer months to keep students on track for math success. Whether students are working at school or at home, ALEKS provides a personalized learning path that enables students to fill in any knowledge gaps and refresh their math skills, so they are prepared for success in the upcoming school year.​

Rural Education

With unlimited online access, ALEKS offers a complete curriculum solution to meet rural education needs. ALEKS interacts with students much like a skilled human tutor, providing targeted instruction on Ready to Learn Topics, detailed explanations, and immediate feedback. ALEKS also offers robust class management tools that enable teachers to monitor student progress and direct learning remotely.​
