Essay related to a government scheme

“The best way to contribute towards society is to fill the belly of hungry children so that they can study and become the leaders of tomorrow.” - Jawaharlal Nehru

With 38% of children between 0-5 years stunted in the country,  India definitely needed the scheme to address the problem of malnutrition in children. Thus, the initiative mid-day meal was started with the order of The scheme came into force with the supreme court order, dated 28 November 2001, acknowledging the right to food as the fundamental right for children studying in primary and upper primary schools.

The aim of this scheme is to provide nutritional food to the children studying in Government schools at primary and upper primary levels in order to ensure their healthy growth from a young age, irrespective of their economical background.

Overall this scheme has been very successful, covering around 10 lakh schools and benefiting children all over India. It has reduced the school drop-out rate and also brought down the cases of malnutrition.

But time and again concerns have been raised over the quality of food being served to children. In many cases, adulterated or poor-quality food was found being served to children, which even proved fatal in some instances. Moreover, the geographical stretch of India makes it difficult to effectively implement it everywhere.

All in all, we can say it is a successful scheme but its effective implementation is required in order to get the desired results, as the children are the future of the country.

topics for essay writing for ssc cgl

Most students go for the Descriptive Paper for Tier 3 unprepared. And here is where the essay writing goes all wrong and they are not able to qualify it. Tier II and III play a decisive role in cracking SSC CGL in achieving your dream role. Hence, only those candidates who are securing at least the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination are eligible to appear in the Skill Test.

SSC CGL Descriptive Paper for Tier 3

The interview or the personality test has been replaced by the descriptive exam. It aims to test the aspirant’s proficiency in the language. This offline, pen and paper based exam aims to test on how a student formulates his or her ideas to form firm arguments and opinions on a certain topic. This essay writing carries the maximum weightage of around 40-60 marks.

The descriptive paper evaluates a student’s writing or communication skills. It determines how effectively a candidate conveys his or her ideas in a precise manner.

To qualify Tier III a candidate needs to score at least 33 marks. But without a proper strategy for essay writing, you could ruin your exam.

Essay Writing

Candidates often are in a dilemma while giving an informational and impressive touch to their essay in the exam. They stuck in a situation when they instantly try to represent all the related ideas that pop up into their mind. There is a set format that is required for the exam. It should be a composition that is summarized after drawing keywords and information regarding the given topic.

For instance, you need to cover topics like Demonetization, Caste Based Reservation in India, Climate Catastrophe, Social Media etc. and all the Current affairs based trending topics like the Doklam Issue, Bullet Train, or the Challenges After GST Implementation etc.

Practicing essay writing having a word limit is 250 words will not only boost your confidence but also makes you abound in words.

Prepare tips for the Essay Writing

  • Read newspapers, articles, and magazines related to political issues. This would significantly increase your vocabulary and teaches your mind to form concrete ideas quickly. A good reading habit always improves writing skills.
  • Hindi medium students should go for newspapers like Hindustan or Dainik Jagran and English medium students must read The Hindu, The Indian Express, Economic Times, etc.
  • Reading editorials will teach you to get ideas and how to approach an essay.
  • Read a good essay book, especially which is designed for this exam.

Tips for a better Performance in the Exam

  • You need to be neat in your presentation or avoid cutting or overwriting. Your handwriting must be readable. If the marks allotter doesn’t know what you’ve written he would hardly allow you the marks.
  • While writing the descriptive paper you need to avoid grammatical errors. Reading books like Wren and Martin can supply you with basic grammar rules. You can also go for books like Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis.
  • If vocabulary is not very good, use simple words and phrases to properly explain your ideas. Pay heed to grammar and see that your language is correct.
  • Don’t mention a quote by any famous personality to validate your points or point of view, if you don’t remember it properly. Also, use relevant examples.
  • Practice is the key to your success. It will give you a control over the language, but also allow you to form comprehensive ideas. Follow some of these instructions to bring efficiency to your writing skills. For the sake of practice, select topics of your choice and write them with a limited time frame.

Two Points to keep in Mind

  • You need to prepare an outline or diagram of your ideas, the body, and the introduction. W
  • Write the conclusion and add the finishing touches.

A candidate would not be allowed to write any of details in the inner pages. He/she would not have to write the essay on a plain paper.  Instead, the boxes will be provided. He/ she will be needed to fill the boxes with each of a single word forming the essay.

Note: Put in the Name, Roll No. Ticket No. and Signature in the required boxes. 250 words are the most accepted limit in an essay writing.

1. Essay Writing

ANYONE CAN WRITE AN ESSAY!

Surprised? Don't be. With the right tools and average level of content, anyone can write an essay. And that's what we are going to give you-

THE RIGHT TOOLS

Before writing an essay, you need to know what an essay is, and what it isn't. Essay is not an illogical arrangement of ideas. It's not a haphazard array of sentences. It is a flow of ideas with a single idea- as the backbone; the other ideas complementing this single idea. And these set of ideas when set in a proper structure become a good essay.

All essays might look the same to an untrained eye, but they're not. There are different types of essays, according to the way in which the writer deals with the topic at hand. They are:"

  • Descriptive
  • Argumentative

PERSONAL ESSAYS

Personal essays are what one may call writing from the heart. They have a personal touch and are often written in a conversational manner, and may be called an autobiographical non-fiction.

NARRATIVE ESSAYS

Narrative essays can be said to be closely related to personal essays in which we write from first person perspective. These are narrations of an event or a situation, generally a real-life experience.

DESCRIPTIVE ESSAYS

Descriptive essays are closely related to narrative essays, but differentiated by the absence of first person perspective ('I'). These are descriptions of a person, place, object or even memory of special significance.

Expository essays are essays completely separated from the above-given types in that they completely avoid any reference to personal feelings. They are fully based on factual knowledge, and present the conclusion on the basis of facts, statistics and examples.

ANALYTICAL ESSAYS

Analytical essays are a type of expository essays with personal analysis in addition. In this, the writer analyses the given data and presents a balanced view in the conclusion.

Persuasive essays are analytical essays with a strong emphasis on one's viewpoint, so as to persuade the reader to accept the writer's point of view or recommendation.

ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAYS

Argumentative essays are a stronger form of persuasive essays, but they differ in the fact that in it, the author presents his view in contrast to the other viewpoints that exist, while in persuasive essays, the author just gives his own viewpoint in the attempt to persuade. According to the topic and the context in which one is writing the essay, one can decide which type of essay one wants to write.

How to write an essay?

Now that we have dealt with the description and types of essay, we come to the most important part-how to write an essay.

All essays should have three parts-

  • Introduction,
  • Content, and

INTRODUCTION

Introduction is the part where one initiates the topic. It is an insight into what the writer is going to write in the following passages. While it should have a direct reference to the topic of the essay, it shouldn't be a description of the same. Rather it should catch the attention of the readers, and shouldn't be dry. Remember, the reader decides whether to read the complete essay or not on the basis of your introduction. Make it catchy, clear and concise.

Now, coming to the content. This is the part where you have to bring in your grey cells. Write down all the points you have on the given topic, and then structure it. A good essay can be identified by its structure, which is the logical flow of ideas, effortlessly moving from one idea to another as if in a natural flow.

The body of the essay can be divided into 3-4 paragraphs and different, but related ideas can be discussed under these.

Three approaches can be made while writing content:-

  • WSA (Word-Specific Approach)

Bring in words that are most related to the topic, and are most relevant. They make it look like the writer has read enough on the topic and has good knowledge of it.

  • POV (Point-Of-View approach)

In this, one can bring in different viewpoints, since there may be many sections of society that are affected by that single topic, and they all might be holding different outlooks. This adds more of an analytical angle to the essay since the author will be able to see the topic from the viewpoints of multiple persons, and this includes the pros and cons of the topic.

  • SCELPT (Socio-Cultural, Economic Legal, Political and Technology Points)

Here the writer approaches the topic from various angles. This makes it, a comprehensive look at the topic and the most extensive analysis of it. This approach comes best in academic essays and competitive essays where one has to make sure the topic has been viewed from every possible angle.

Conclusion is the part that is as important as the introduction. It mostly includes the quintessence of the topic, a crux of all that has been described in the previous passages.

Rather than just summarizing what's given in the previous passages, give an opinion of your own or a suggestion for the future, still holding on to what has been discussed earlier.

WRTIE IT LIKE A TOPPER

TIPS FOR WRITING A SCORE-FETCHING ESSAY

Anyone can write an essay, but not everyone can write an essay that looks great from all angles Keeping in mind the fact that almost all the students who take the final exam must be equipped with more or less the same level of content, one has to look for the winning edge, the edge that makes you stand apart and finally takes you to the paramount. The following tips will give you that edge you need.

  • Brainstorm on the topic and write down points.
  • Make a structure before starting to write. Devote 2-3 minutes to it. If your structure is good, the content will flow from one to another.
  • Start with a quote in the introduction if possible.
  • Start with a contrasting view of events in the introduction and then substantiate it in the content.
  • Never start with a plain description.
  • Make proper paragraphs. Make sure you stick to one idea in one passage. Do not let it overflow to the next.
  • Add as many keywords as you can, but not jargons. Too many jargons will make the essay look complicated and dry.
  • Do not add too much of data, but only enough to substantiate what you claim m the essay.
  • Add solutions or suggestions in the conclusion.
  • Make the conclusion futuristic, with an idea for the future.
  • Do not end the essay on a negative note. Add something positive, or end it with a hope for the future.
  • Have your own style of writing the essay. Your essay should reflect your personality and that will automatically separate it from the rest.

Now that you're equipped with all the tools, get going. Let's start writing essays.

Point to Ponder

Spend 5-10 MINUTES EVERYDAY for brainstorming on a topic. Write down everything that comes to your mind. Doing so will help you generate points much easily at the time of exam.

Now let's start with a simple essay...
