Steps For Easy DIY Dog Ghost Costume

1. measure and cut.

Lay out the white fabric and place it over your dog’s back, starting from their shoulders and extending down to their tail. Use a marker or chalk to outline the general shape of the costume. It should resemble a simple draped sheet, covering your dog’s body and leaving room for their legs to move freely. Once you have the outline, carefully cut along the marked lines.

2. Create Leg Openings

Stand your dog in the middle of the fabric and mark where their front legs are. Make a small cut on each side of the fabric to create leg openings. Ensure that the openings are large enough for your dog’s legs to move comfortably.

3. Shape the Costume

Place the fabric back on your dog and adjust the fit. You can make any necessary cuts or adjustments to ensure that the costume drapes nicely and doesn’t hinder your pup’s movement. Trim the edges if needed.

4. Attach Accessories (Optional)

If you want to add a bit more flair to your pup’s ghostly look, consider crafting accessories such as a matching white hat or a little cape. Attach these accessories securely using fabric glue or by sewing them onto the main costume.

5. Add Ghostly Features

Now it’s time to give your ghost costume some personality! Using black fabric paint or markers, draw on a pair of eyes and a mouth. You can make the facial features cute, spooky, or anything in between. Let your creativity shine!

6. Secure the Costume

To keep the costume comfortably in place, you can attach adhesive velcro strips under the belly of the costume. This will provide a secure fit while allowing your dog to move freely.

7. Test and Adjust

Once the costume is complete, put it on your dog and let them walk around for a bit. Observe their comfort level and make any necessary adjustments to ensure they can move, sit, and wag their tail without any trouble.

  • Take clay, kneed it to make it easy to use.
  • Make small horns from the color of your choice, if you want gold horns, you can paint them too with acrylic colors to a decent neatness.
  • Next out of clay, make a frame small frame in which fit the horns as shown in picture.
  • Fit them together and bake these in oven.
  • Once it is set, glue it either on his collar and adjust to be worn over the head. Or else if your dog is comfortable drill a hole through the clay and put an elastic in it.

We’ve rounded up 11 of the cutest (and spookiest!) dog ghost options out there for your pup. Just be sure to keep him away from the candy when you’re out trick-or-treating.

Happy Halloween!

He’ll be spooky and warm at the same time: Hotel Doggy Halloween Mock Neck Ghost Dog Sweater

An extra special creation, especially if you’re headed to a dog-friendly party.

“Ghostbusters” fans, this one’s for you: Rubie's Ghostbusters Movie Pet Costume Jumpsuit

If a bandana is more his speed: Tees & Tails Boo! with Ghost Halloween Dog Bandana

He’ll be the most mysterious ghost on the block: Impoosy Halloween Dog Costume Cloak

Yet another classic ghost costume, which is a lot nicer than cutting two holes in a sheet! This dog ghost costume comes in a variety of sizes, and the hood adds a cute element to it (if your dog is OK with things on his head). If not, it looks great when it’s down, too. We like that happy ghost smile, too!

For that classic touch: Ghost Dog Bow

Here’s another option if your pup isn’t really into costumes —  this adorable ghost-patterned bow easily attaches to your dog’s collar with Velcro. He’ll be ready to celebrate in no time.

Halloween is such a fun holiday, and there’s nothing cuter than getting your dog dressed up — he’ll love all the attention!
