This has been done many times. Also Zarathos wins in a god fight. Dormammu currently is more Mephisto's equal and not superior these days.

In his defense he was totally powerless when that happened because his Sister betrayed him and sucked out all his powers, although the picture of helpless Dormammu is hilarious

None of his feats come even close to matching Dormammu's ones. They already encountered/clashed three times already and Ghost Rider was proved inferior in all of them.

dormammu stomps

Avatar image for darth_nimrod

@laylah : Really? When has Ghost Rider faced Dormammu? Just curious.

@darth_nimrod : Ghost Rider Vol. 1#29-31; Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme#50 and Guardians of the Galaxy#36-39 .

Avatar image for jrupert1

One such instance, in Sorcerer Supreme #50, Dr Strange has just gone through a depowering and Dormammu returns and has Clea. So he enlists the help of the Defenders and Ghost Rider. Dr Strange takes the Spirit of Vengeance from Ghost Rider and puts it into his own body. Dormammu is disappointed by how weak Strange had become and his reaction the Spirit of Vengeance is "Is that the best you can muster? The paltry energies of a minor presence?" Even when Dr Strange leaves his body, the hostless Ghost Rider (along with Clea, Silver Surfer, and Hulk) could do nothing to Dormammu. The only thing that had any semblance of affect is Dr Strange's battle inside Dormammu against his ego.

Zarathos compares more to Nightmare than Dormammu.

@laylah @jrupert1 : Ok. Thanks for the info

@laylah : I never heard of Ghost Rider in Guardians of the Galaxy. Care to point some scans out out? I never seen a scan of GR in space with the crew.

Also the classic Ghost Rider hardly counts. That was a far weaker and early Ghost Rider with no Zarathos at that point in time even being written yet.

Dr Strange lost to GR 4 times, and yet Strange > Dormammu. So it's confusing why Dormammu is better anyway, unless we point out Strange needs plot to win every major battle he has, like Shuma Gorath, what a cop out plot win.

It was a future version of him called ''The Spirit of Vengence".

It's not like Dormammu had interfered directly in that situation at the end of the day and even so, it's just one example. There's DSSS#50 after all.

Strange isn't more powerful than Dormammu and I don't know from where you got such ridiculous statement. Stephen is a character suited to fight against the likes of magical beings such as him, so ABC logic won't work here and Strange indeed needs the plot to defeat the Dread One most of the times. Dormammu is better because his feats are so and none of Ghost Rider come even close to doing things like fighting and destroying Eternity( Who's the very representation of everything, which means Zarathos as well), imprisoning Zom and stomping the entire GOTG which included an host of the Phoenix Force capable of defeating universal reality-warpers.

Avatar image for emperorxhadesx420

@laylah : few things.

One, the beat eternity thing been debunk many times. If he destroyed eternity, then 616 would cease to be being chief among the reasons. Also no other feat ever came close anyway.

Two, Dormammu is a jobber these days and far gone are his classic feats.

Lastly, was this future version Zarathos? There is many Ghost Riders and the two most powerful always been Zarathos and Nobel Kale. So using that as a example is faulty unless that Ghost Ridsr was Zarathos.

few things.

They debunked Dormammu beating Eternity and not destroying its essence. Why would that be the case? An alternate reality Eternity was once destroyed by the Infinity Gauntlet( IIRC) and the universe was there just fine. Eternity is far more than a single universe and exists outside of space and time, but is capable of assuming a living form. No other feats come close to that? Dormammu imprisoned Zom, who's more powerful than Eternity. Defeated Slorioth, who's a threat to Eternity. Stomped Giraud, who saved and restored Eternity's life.

I'm not even touching on things like the Living Tribunal itself using the Flames of the Faltine( Dormammu's main source of power) to just stand up against Nebulos and his Staff of Polar Power. Dormammu has a lot of feats in that category.

He ain't a jobber. Just a few years ago Dormammu conquered the entire 616 and killed all its heroes( Meaning Ghost Rider as well), which is impressive since DSSS#1-2 established that the Celestials would oppose him if gets to that point and since Dormammu succeed....I guess it's pretty safe to assume they weren't able to stop him. He also infected the entire Marvel Earth with the Mindless Plague and was the only magical user to survive the Black Bullet.

Users only think of Dormammu as a jobber because they misinterpret his low showings without knowing the context.

They're from the future 616, so oblivious would be Zarathos. It's the same characters( Wonder Man, Firelord and all), but older.

@laylah : fair enough on all points, but would Eternity in living form be same power as his total power as a un physical abstract? Seems like Mephisto outside his realm deal. Also I rate IG well above Dormammu anyway considering what the IG done vs Beyonder Doom.

Also you say it's obvious it's Zarathos. But failed to explain it this is the same Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider. There is MANY Ghost Riders. Was this Blaze or not?

This really has to go to Dormammu. He operates on higher level than Odin, someone who is on the same level as Mephisto.

@sirfizzwhizz : Yes.

Dormammu went to the realm of Eternity to fight against the abstract and once usurped its powers during Defenders Vol.#3 in a battle with similar conditions, thus becoming the new Eternity itself. Of course the IG is well above Dormammu by an astronomical margin and I'm not going to debate against that, but my point is to show that even destroying Eternity doesn't mean the universe would be as well.

This point I'm going to admit my mistake. I've re-read the comics and even while they're future versions, I think the new user is called Wileaydus. This means you're right about not being Blaze, so it's not really a usable instance here. Although I still maintain my point of Dormammu's feats being far superior and there's still DSSS#50 to show how an interaction/fight between them would go.

@laylah : fair enough. I have to get this GoTG comics to add to my GR collections.

@sirfizzwhizz : No biggie ^-^

I'm sure you're going to like it. Wileaydus has feats like destroying a planet-size asteroid and taking some sort of black hole gun, I think( As well beating the crap out of many GOTG's members).

@laylah : wow, the only other GR with planet feat was transmutations a moon/planet in hellfire. That was Caleb GR. So yeah, be cool to get some more decent GR feats.

Avatar image for tifalockhart

@laylah : Glad to see a Dormammu expert on here.

All the times @laylah mentioned, Zarathos was most definitely a thing. But the Guardians event was the future so whether that's really usable it's debatable. Any time an alternate timeline (even a potential future) is used it is a tricky thing at best.

Also, Dormammu isn't Dr Strange but since it was mentioned, Strange only has one loss against GR and it was incredibly contextual/situational. His state of mind was in a wreck because of what he thought he had done and he was caught off guard with no physical or mental defenses. Plus this was in a GR comic in 2006 after his depictions by writers had already become something of a rocky thing.

No time has he ever lost to him besides that. In one of their fights GR was empowered by Dormammu and even then, while he was caught off balance and stuck to taking the defensive, he only feigned defeat but in-actuality Strange left his body and entered the mind of GR. What followed in the comic was Strange removing Blaze's soul from GR (and putting him in his body) because his battle with Dormammu would have killed Blaze. When this happened Dormammu actually took control of GR. They beat Dormammu by a combination of Dr Strange's mystical assault inside GR and Blaze's physical assault (in the body of Dr Strange) against a Dormammu controlled GR.

One of the other examples I have seen you include is actually counterproductive. It's hardly a defeat just because he took the Midnight Sons and retreated. For context, it takes place in the time frame where Strange is greatly weakened (as shown in his own series which intersects), he lost his boon and most of his spells, and his personal power (which he was limited to) had been decreasing (his lowest point until he'd be corrupted by Salome's Dance in his next appearance). As for the scenario itself, they were outnumbered. They had Zarathos, Lilith, and the Lilin to deal with. He had the Midnight Sons to save and several innocent people around. So he blocked them off with a barrier, they had a conversation for several pages, and then they fled, with Strange transporting them away. He even said "these people stand a better chance of survival if we leave this place." As they left he cast a spell to conceal the people from Zarathos and the Lilin. It was only when they were gone did Zarathos finally break through the barrier, but this counts as a win? The last of the four defeats you speak of is in an annual which has continuity and consistency errors (of course it's not meant to take itself seriously) all around, including but not limited to the appearance of a Dr Strange who in continuity not at his best and Zarathos is there... only they actually never fight and Strange is never defeated.

There have actually been several times where it was either suggested, stated, or even shown that Strange was above any of the Ghost Riders (be it Blaze, Ketch or Vengeance). Back on topic. Zarathos is a Hell Lord level being, and Dormammu is without question above any of them and has proven it. He's even caused them to unite against him while he was still in the process of reclaiming his power.

@jrupert1 : Dr Strange in classic days lost to GR being sent by Dormammu. Fact.

Dr Strange was barely able to help the Midnight Sons escape much less stay and beat Zarathos himself. Fact.

Dr Strange lost to GR again in recent arcs in a one on one. Being penance stared. Fact.

Dr Strange lost to GR again even with the back up of the Avengers and Midnight Sons. He was unable to stop GR at all as well. Blaze had to stop Zarathos by taking the curse back. Strange could do nothing, and did nothing. Fact.

So that is clear 4 loses.

@jrupert1 : 1) Dr Strange in classic days lost to GR being sent by Dormammu. Fact.

2) Dr Strange was barely able to help the Midnight Sons escape much less stay and beat Zarathos himself. Fact.

3) Dr Strange lost to GR again in recent arcs in a one on one. Being penance stared. Fact.

4) Dr Strange lost to GR again even with the back up of the Avengers and Midnight Sons. He was unable to stop GR at all as well. Blaze had to stop Zarathos by taking the curse back. Strange could do nothing, and did nothing. Fact.

1) Wrong, I already explained. GR was amped by Dormammu as confirmed by both GR and Dormammu, and Strange still wasn't out (he left his body to target the issue with GR at the source). 2) I explained this as well, even ignoring the context that is a huge assumption. What he did wasn't him being defeated. 3) Yea, this is his one loss, but again, there was more too it as I explained. 4) Where did he lose? Where did he even fight him directly in this? Ignoring the issues I raised, none of those things even suggest what you propose, much less make it fact.

@jrupert1 :

1) I have to go back to a previous thread where the claim he was amped was vague at best. Nothing about his feats were amped either. But I will leave that alone.

2) Strange ran away and made it very clear none of them can beat Zarathos at that point in time. That is what happen. Running away from someone is a loss, especially when he had all the back up he needed anyway. His best shield was going to break within moments. Zarathos was out of his league then.

3) Yes there is more to it. Strange thought beating human control GR was a win, only to be completely out done and held helpless by Zarathos unleashed.

4) Same as two. Strange did not engage at all and stated the only chance at winning was to draw out the Spirit out of Blaze. He was wrong. When Rogue did what Santana failed to do, Zarathos simply took over rogue. Strange was as helpless to end the fight and save the lives of Rogue as everyone else there, that is until Blaze took the spirit back and calmed it. It was clear he could do nothing otherwise you think Strange let Rogue sacrifice her life in a situation he could handle? Really?

@sirfizzwhizz : Still incorrect. Dormammu even said he was fueling him with his power, and GR mentioned he felt more powerful. Not vague at all, and still, as I said Strange was not defeated. It's really that simple.

He suggested nothing of the sort, there was more to it and had his own crisis in his own series at the same which took his attention (the Midnight Sons have even brought up their feelings of Strange being an absentee of sorts). Even ignoring all of the context I laid out such as Lilith and the Lilin being there so they did not have the numbers advantage not to mention the last time they faced Lilith (who alone has been made out to be comparable to Zarathos) it took all the Midnight Sons and luck, while it was acknowledge that Strange could do it on his own, in fact in another confrontation he's caused her to flee. Plus there was the not so little thing called the innocents in the crossfire, so it was logical to help the Midnight Sons retreat and regroup, but he was not under the impression attacking Zarathos and Lilith was beyond something they could do. Aside from misunderstanding the difference between a shield and a barrier and why it's relevant, why do you think it's his "best shield" (it was a barrier) when there is nothing to support that? But here's the important part... aren't you forgetting the part where Strange didn't have access to most of his spells and couldn't cast his regularly most powerful stuff? Also, as I explained it took a significant amount of time for Zarathos to break it, in that time they they had a conversation, and had time to leave, and Strange had time to cast an illusion spell (that worked) which kept the innocent people left around from being seen, when they were gone then Zarathos broke it.

That's not even close to the context which is the "more to it" that's what we call an assumption ignoring key context as to why he was defeated.

Calling him helpless here is another unsupported assumption. Beyond that, there are many issues with this annual, inconsistencies, and dumb decisions and things happening due to convenience to the plot actually being a recognized key thing to the plot. Heck if exercising GR was so important Strange would be the best person for the job as, for one example, he did that to the power granted to a sorceress which made her (by Strange's own admission) comparable to Dormammu. And his ability and willpower to handle it outstrips anyone there (he's housed more powerful beings). Or there's the time he faced the Hell Lord Marduk Kurios in his dimension and his hellfire couldn't even touch him. Besides this was Strange in a time where he was "helpless" to stop an airplane from falling, is this really the accurate straw to grasp?

But this is likely a fruitless discussion.

1) I have debunk this before, but I cannot find the original thread I went into detail with. hen I am not working 16 hour shifts I will get back to this.

2) This is quite frankly you making excuses. Its not even good excuses. If Zarathos was such a threat he should have ended him. More so when he had back up. He did not. he rsn away like a bitch and wanted nothing to do with it. He hradly beat Zarathos down like he did Wanda in Avengers Dissassemble. There is no amount of twisting you can pull to deny this.

No Caption Provided

He ran away like a bitch. Thats a loss. More so when he had major backup.

3) Context is Strange only beaten Blaze, then got beat by Zarathos. Same Zarathos that Strange hope would fight WWH becuase he did not want to. Zarathos > Strange by his own actions in WWH.

4) Same as 2. You YET to prove he could do anything other than order others to fight him which they failed, and he still did nothing even though Rogue's soul was in danger.

Gallery image 1

Well look at that. Dr Strange states he cannot beat GR. Says Santana was there only hope! He says that! Deal with it.

@sirfizzwhizz : You couldn't have debunked anything there because there isn't anything to debunk.

Gallery image 1

Do you know how much context there is for you to ignore in order to come to your conclusion about his "running away?" It's not excuses, it's reasons. All those things build up to mean a great deal, and even still, doing what he did is not the same as being defeated. Seriously, I don't get it anymore.

He lost because he dropped his defenses, Zarathos grabbed him when he was caught off guard and in a vulnerable mental state. And again, this is years after Strange's last series has ended and he has been written incredibly inconsistent at this time to begin with. Zarathos is a Hell Lord level being, something Strange knows how to battle and defeat, having done so to one of the most powerful ones within their own dimension. Even Mephisto has basically admitted inferiority to Strange (and Strange has battled an amped Mephisto in his own dimension). Plus he regularly defeats Fear Lords who are comparable. And battles beings more powerful (and I don't just mean Dormammu).

The issues with events of that annual are far too many to get into, there was no consistency or regard for any of the history of the characters involved, it didn't even care about being accurate within it's own continuity of the series it's an annual to. But I already mentioned some valid ones already. What Satana attempted is something Strange has done himself before a few times, and he's all around more powerful than Satana. Even down to what Rogue managed to do, it doesn't fit with what she is actually capable of. As for the dramatic dialog, anyone familiar with the character at all should know that's just how he speaks. Heck he's been more dramatic about threats far less than that. If were to go by everything said, then in the example I previously used, he also said he couldn't stop a falling airplane that he was in (which is ridiculous) but considering he's done things of the sort well beyond that, it sort of makes one think, no? But to say what you say about it, and that it is fact, it's called grasping.

1) Fair enough, the comic I have that must be before that one has no stated amp, just the fight between GR and Strange. Nothing in that suggested a amp.

2) he ran away and that's a admittance of defeat. Example 3) and 4) further give this proof as consistency.

3) he was helpless when chain. So by your own logic Strange is powerless when wrapped in chains? We know that false. He was also unable to react to the chains when given plenty of warning of a impending attack. Strange also prove unable to resist the Penance Stare. He lost, simple as that.

4) the events in that issue are canon, and supported by events of 2) and 3). Dr Strange own words and consistent losses > your excuse to dismiss GR superiority.

In the end Zarathos is consistent in beating Strange in random battles. With prep and plot Strange can beat anyone, sure. In a random, he loses to GR. Which makes sense as Strange has trouble with Nightmare and Mephisto, yet GR beats them too with ease. So... It's consistent.

Dormammu vs Ghost Rider (Zarathos' Power)

Created by captainthor985

Dormammu

The Superhero Database Classification number, or SHDB Class, is a number that represents the overall 'power' of a character. All traits of a character are used for calculating the Classification.

What it DOESN'T mean

This doesn't mean that a higher class would always beat a lower class character. But the bigger the difference in Class is, the more obvious it is who'll win in a fight.

How is this calculated

Super power score and level.

Every Super Power has a score (SPS) that is used to calculate the Class. Each Super Power also has 3 levels (SPL). The level is set when connecting that Super Power to a character. The level determines the final score, of the Super Power, being used in the calculation.

Marvel: 10 Strongest Demons In The Franchise, Ranked

In the present day, many demons have tried to return to Earth but were met with resistance from various heroes including the Sorceror Supreme.

In the Marvel Universe, there is a part of it that remains the realm of the supernatural. This part goes back millennia to an age where magic ran wild and extradimensional beings known as demons preyed on the earliest forms of humanity. As time moved forward, these demons found their power waning on Earth and almost all of them fled to other dimensions.

RELATED:  10 Most Powerful Comic Book Villains With Demonic Origins

In the present day, many of these demons have tried to return to Earth but were met with resistance from various heroes including the Sorceror Supreme. Some have tried to bind themselves to this dimension by using humans as hosts or breeding with them to create links to the dimension. Some heroes have even managed to serve humanity by controlling demons , which can be a deadly prospect since there are very powerful demons in the Marvel Universe.

10 D'Spayre Preys On Human Fear & Sadness

D'Spayre was created when the Dweller in Darkness coalesced the collected fear of Atlantis and Lemuria sinking. When he first appeared, it was in the Nexus of All Realities, guarded by the Man-Thing . When he was defeated by Man-Thing and Spider-Man , he moved to more subtle methods.

He began to prey on lonely humans, driving them into despair. It's believed that he feeds on these emotions, but he takes pleasure in torturing his victims. He's crossed paths with several heroes on Earth, including the teams of Cloak and Dagger and the X-Men .

9 N'astirh Orchestrated Inferno

N'astirh came to the forefront, manipulating Madelyne Pryor , the mutant clone of Jean Grey , to launch the demonic invasion that was called Inferno . N'Astirh also manipulated Magik  to open a portal to allow the demons from Limbo to invade New York. He proved himself to be sinisterly intelligent, infecting himself with the techno-organic virus to become a sentient, demonic, magical computer.

RELATED:  X-Men: 10 Worst Things Madelyne Pryor Ever Did, Ranked

N'astirh became a formidable foe, thwarting attempts to destroy him. His techno-organic nature was used against him, as the X-Men and X-Factor used extreme temperature changes and a massive bolt of lightning to destroy the demon. He was later resurrected and tried to manipulate the X-Men to kill Magik .

8 Zarathos Thwarted Other Demons As Ghost Rider

The Demon Zarathos is known to comic fans as the source of Ghost Rider 's power. He was a demon that corrupted the Spirits of Vengeance and futilely challenged Mephisto . Mephisto would periodically bond Zarathos to a mortal as a parody of the Spirits of Vengeance. This practice brought Zarathos into contact with Johnny Blaze as the demonic hero Ghost Rider .

Blaze eventually found himself fighting for control with Zarathos until he was able to trap the demon in a soul-crystal. Zarathos was freed by Lilith and he collaborated with her to take over the Earth. During their defeat, Zarathos was destroyed.

7 Blackheart Got in the Way Of Mephisto's Plans

Blackheart was created by Mephisto as a "son" using the collected evil of centuries of murder in a New York town. Blackheart faced numerous heroes before Mephisto began to restrict his powers to teach the young demon humility. Blackheart instead began to try and overthrow Mephisto using various mortals.

Blackheart's efforts were often met by Ghost Rider, no matter who possessed the Spirit of Vengeance. He's continued to threaten Mephisto's power and rule. Most recently, he got in the way of Mephisto's plans for Miles Morales , so the elder demon dragged his son home.

6 Null, the Living Darkness Took Over Earth

Null the Living Darkness first came to the attention of the Defenders when he attempted to take over a Virginia town. Then he was stopped from using a pawn by Ghost Rider. The Null went to the Earth of the Squadron Supreme where he merged with the Over-Mind to take over the world and threaten that entire universe.

The Defenders and the Squadron uncovered Null's role and confronted him, almost futilely. A group of psychics merged the psionic power of the two teams before using the latent goodness inside Null. It had laid there since he formed from the collective negative impulses of an angelic, alien race. Null was destroyed and has not been seen since.

5 Dormammu Always Comes Back To Threaten Earth

Dormammu was one of the first extradimensional threats that Doctor Strange faced. He had conquered the Dark Dimension and enslaved the Mindless Ones. When he tried to conquer the Earth dimension in the present day, he was thwarted by the Sorceror Supreme's disciple, Doctor Strange. For this, Dormammu swore vengeance against Strange.

RELATED:  10 Marvel Superheroes Who Are Stronger Than Doctor Strange

Dormammu returned to threaten Earth again and again, with Strange often defeating him with allies like the Avengers and Defenders. Strange even aided the resistance in the Dark Dimension against Dormammu's rule, aiding in deposing him.

4 Shuma-Gorath Takes Armies Of Heroes To Stop Him

Shuma-Gorath had already conquered multiple dimensions when he came to Earth millions of years ago. He was banished by a time-traveling sorcerer. He returned and was buried in a mountain by the god Crom before an escape ended with Shuma-Gorath banished to another dimension.

In the present day, Doctor Strange began a wave of heroes standing in the way of Shuma-Gorath returning to Earth's dimension to conquer it. Often, he has taken advantage of unrelated events weakening or opening a portal between dimensions.

3 Chthon Possesses Only The Most Powerful

The Elder God Chthon bound much of his power in the magical tome known as the Darkhold. This gives him a path to return and gather the souls of those using the Darkhold. One of the first vessels that he prepared upon her birth was Wanda Maximoff , also known as the extremely powerful mutant the Scarlet Witch .

Chthon continued to use his link to the Darkhold attempting to escape his dimension. He had impregnated the wife of a priest charged to protect against Chthon. He possessed Wanda's brother, Quicksilver and during Hydra 's " Secret Empire ", once again possessed the Scarlet Witch . Many times, he finds himself stopped by Doctor Strange.

Mephisto is for all intents and purposes, the Marvel Universe's devil. He's constantly bargained for souls and calls his domain Hell to exploit humanity's fears of the biblical Satan. He doesn't limit himself to Earth, manipulating and collecting extraterrestrials as well. It was his kidnapping of the Silver Surfer's lost love Shalla Bal that was one of his first chronicled deeds.

RELATED:  Marvel: 10 Scary Facts About Mephisto You Never Knew

He's crossed paths with almost every Marvel hero . He bonded Zarathos to Johnny Blaze and created the hero Ghost Rider. He's eliminated the children of Scarlet Witch and the Vision as they were parts of his power. He struck a deal with Spider-Man to claim the love he had with Mary Jane Watson in exchange for healing his Aunt May . His most famous duplicity was putting himself into Thanos ' service until he saw an opportunity to steal the Infinity Gauntlet for himself.

1 The One Below All

The One Below All is as old as the Multiverse, sealed away in the lowest portion of Hell. A door to its realm was opened by the gamma bomb that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk . When Bruce killed his father, the One Below All used that soul as a vessel and began to wreak havoc on Earth influencing Gamma-mutated people .  When Hulk drained Sasquatch's Gamma energy, he became the host for the One Below All.

In the far future, the One Below All used the Hulk's power to eliminate all life in the universe, including those believed to be immortal. A warning sent back in time to the Leader led the Hulk's most dangerous villain to become a host for the One Below All. His threat continues to threaten everything, everywhere.

Ghost rider: final vengeance sees a marvel supervillain become the new spirit of vengeance.

The forthcoming Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1 will see a super-villain become the new host for the Spirit of Vengeance--but who will it be?

  • Ghost Rider's spirit has departed from Johnny Blaze and bonded with a villain, spelling trouble for the Marvel Universe.
  • The new Ghost Rider's identity has not been revealed yet, adding to the suspense and anticipation for fans.
  • The potential for destruction and violence is high with a villain possessing the Spirit of Vengeance, presenting a threat to everything Ghost Rider stands for.

The forthcoming Ghost Rider : Final Vengeance sees a Marvel villain become the new Spirit of Vengeance. Writer Benjamin Percy has put Ghost Rider through his paces over the past two years, giving him a sidekick and sending Johnny Blaze down a horrifying path. Now, the Spirit of Vengeance has departed from Johnny, bonding itself to a villain–which could spell bad news for the Marvel Universe.

Marvel shared a first look at Ghost Rider: Final Vengeance #1’s cover on their website. The book will be written by Percy and drawn by Danny Kim, with Benjamin Su providing a special foil cover. Marvel did not reveal which villain would bond with the Spirit of Vengeance, assuring fans it would be revealed soon.

Likewise, Su’s cover does not clear the matter up either–fans must wait patiently to discover the new Ghost Rider’s identity.

Ghost Rider Has Seen a Lot in 50 Years

Ghost Rider has been a staple of the supernatural side of the Marvel Universe since his first appearance in the early 1970s. There have been many Ghost Riders throughout history , with several in the 20th/21st centuries alone, but Johnny Blaze remains the best known. After a brief stint as the King of Hell, Johnny Blaze returned to the role, and has barely had time to stop since his return. First, he fought off an evil demon threatening a small town. Along the way, he meets Talia Warroad, a former SHIELD agent and mystic, who becomes Ghost Rider’s unofficial sidekick. Benjamin Percy has given Ghost Rider his groove back.

Now, Johnny Blaze’s entire world has been upended as he has been separated from the Spirit of Vengeance. To add insult to injury, the Spirit has bonded with a villain. Marvel is still being coy over the identity of the new Ghost Rider, not even offering hints in the press release. While the most logical candidate would be a supernatural-based character, other types of villains cannot be ruled out. How exactly a Spirit of Vengeance, a tool of revenge and justice, could bond with an evil villain remains to be seen too. This could also tamper with powers such as the Penance Stare.

Ghost Rider's True Speed Revealed as Marvel Puts a Number on the Hell Cycle's Power

A villain can corrupt ghost rider's mission.

Regardless of the new Ghost Rider’s identity, a villain possessing the Spirit of Vengeance is a terrifying notion, and Johnny Blaze will have to work quickly to stop them. The potential for destruction and violence is great, as they could flip the script on Ghost Rider’s iconic powers, such as Hellfire and the Penance Stare. In the wrong hands, these powers could cause serious damage and trauma, in the process, flipping the script on everything Ghost Rider stands for.

Dormammu vs. Galactus: Who Would Win in a Fight and Why?

Avatar photo

Dormammu and Galactus are two of the most powerful characters in the Marvel Universe , each possessing god-like powers that have the potential to shape reality itself. Dormammu is a powerful demon and ruler of the Dark Dimension , while Galactus is a cosmic entity who consumes entire worlds to sustain his vast energy needs. Who would come out on top in a hypothetical battle between these two titans? We’ve decided to use this opportunity to shed some light when it comes to the outlook of this battle. Having said that, let’s see, in a battle between Dormammu and Galactus, who would win and why?

Galactus would win in a fight against Dormammu. He is simply a more powerful entity whose powers can cross over even to the Dark Dimension ruled solely by Dormammu. The two fought before in the comics, and Galactus easily consumed Dormammu. Dark Dimension does not limit Galactus’ powers, but any other dimension does, in fact, limit Dormammu’s powers. The longer he is outside of his own world, the weaker he is, but as it turns out, it’s possible to defeat him even in Dark Dimension, so this win clearly goes to Galactus.

Now that we’ve covered that Galactus is more powerful than Dormammu in any scenario, it’s time to analyze why. We’re going to analyze both characters’ powers, abilities, strength, and durability, so you can see why Galactus is superior to the Ruler of Dark Dimension. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!

Powers and abilities

Dormammu is the strongest while he is inside his own Dark Dimension. He wields powerful mystical energies and easily overpowers even the most powerful magicians in the Marvel Universe . Inside Dark Dimension, Dormmamu has reality, elemental, and mystical control. He is able to alter objects at the molecular level, and everything he imagines proves to be true. He can utilize astral projection, has a vast army of minions at his disposal, alter his own size, and conjure up powerful blasts made out of pure energy.

Dormammu wants doctor strange

The only catch is most of his powers are limited to Dark Dimension, meaning that once he finds himself inside our universe, for example, he is significantly weaker. When it comes to other powerful characters in Marvel Universe, it’s obvious that Dormammu would likely be able to beat them due to practically being a god of his own Dimension. However, this turned out not to be true when it comes to Galactus.

Galactus, a cosmic entity of immense power, satisfies his insatiable hunger by consuming entire planets, which provide him with the vast reserves of energy he requires to survive. He commands the “Power Cosmic,” an infinitely potent source of energy that grants him near-omnipotence. With this power, Galactus can manipulate all forms of energy, including space and time, and his energy blasts are capable of destroying entire universes.

The Power of Galactus

Galactus’s abilities extend far beyond energy manipulation and reality-warping. He can also transmute molecules, altering the structure, shape, and nature of nearly anything, as well as create life, control souls, and even recreate entire planets. This remarkable power makes him nearly invincible and virtually omnipotent, with only a select few capable of facing him in battle without suffering defeat.

Dormammu and Galactus might be equals in theory when it comes to energy projection. However, in practice, this turned out to be false. Even in Dark Dimension, Galactus’ powers are nearly-limitless, and he can easily overpower Dormammu.

High Evolutionary vs. Galactus: Who Would Win in a Fight?

Strength and stamina .

Dormammu can lift well over 100 tons like most other cosmic entities inside his Dimension and empowered by his vast mystical powers. Due to his nature, he as well has nearly unlimited amounts of stamina at his disposal. Even if he runs out of fuel, he can easily absorb his Dark Dimension energies or any type of energy directed his way in fact.

Dormammu lifts hulk

Galactus, like Dormammu, can lift well over 100 tons. His strength is possibly immeasurable. Galactus is strongest when he is well fed, so his physical strength depends on his current hunger state. The same goes for stamina. To keep his powers at the highest levels possible, Galactus must constantly consume planets.

Galactus throw thor

The fight between Dormammu and Galactus wouldn’t be physical in nature due to the potential of both entities to reach unlimited strength. Due to this, the point goes to both of them.

Points: Galactus(2:1) Dormammu

Dormammu has teleportation and flying at his disposal, he can likewise reach supersonic speed while flying, and with portals, he can traverse cosmic distances in a matter of seconds. His mystical powers allow him to move at mind-blowing speeds both in combat and outside of it.

Dormammu speed

Galactus is so fast that he resembles a shooting star while traveling across space to search for planets to devour. Like Dormammu, he can use teleports and fly at speeds massively faster than light and is incredibly fast in combat and outside of it. He, however, rarely needs to resort to using his full speed since he rarely needs to resort to mere fistfights.

Both Dormammu and Galactus are capable of teleporting with nothing but thoughts, and in combat, they would likely utilize this power. The point goes to both of them.

Points: Galactus(3:2) Dormammu

Odin vs. Galactus: Who Would Win in a Fight and Why?

Dormammu cannot be hurt through conventional means. Since he is a being made out of pure mystical energy, he can turn intangible at any moment, thus eliminating the option of being hurt by conventional weapons and raw strength. He is immortal and highly resistant to damage. However, it’s possible to devour him in his energy form, which is exactly what Galactus did.

Galactus durability

Galactus’ strong will doesn’t allow him to die. He can reform himself after dying, completely heal any damage sustained, and have managed to live and recover from some of the most devastating blows in the Marvel Universe. Even though it’s possible to kill Galactus because he is a cosmic constant, it’s only a matter of time before he returns. He is highly invulnerable to most forms of damage, aging, and dying from natural causes.

Galactus and Dormammu cannot be permanently dealt with, but since Galactus managed to absorb Dormammu, I’m confident the durability point goes to him.

Points: Galactus(4:2) Dormammu

Intelligence

Dormammu is highly intelligent. Being alive for millions of years, he accumulated a vast knowledge of mystical energies. He claims he is omniscient but has no evidence to support his claims. Still, the fact that Dormammu outsmarts 99 % of the Marvel Universe still stands. He is a god of his own Dimension, thus capable of rewriting reality as he sees fit.

Dormammu

Even if Dormammu is not omniscient, Galactus is. He achieved cosmic awareness. He can understand even the most bizarre phenomena he encounters on his travels. Galactus is considered to be among the smartest characters in the Marvel Universe , and his knowledge of technology, natural laws, reality, past, present, and future is unparalleled.

Galactus intelligence

Points: Galactus(5:2) Dormammu

Combat Skills

Dormammu is considered to be a master martial artist when it comes to a specific type of extra-dimensional fighting. It’s unknown whether he excels in other forms of combat, but he can decently stand his ground in hand-to-hand combat even when not empowered by mystical energies.

Galactus, on the other hand, has no formal training in combat, and quite frankly, he doesn’t have to rely on armed or unarmed combat to get what he wants. With many other powers at his disposal, he doesn’t have to count on his combat skills. If Galactus and Dormammu fight without their superhuman powers and abilities, the fight would likely go in Dormammu’s favor.

Points: Galactus(5:3) Dormammu

Ghost Rider vs. Galactus: Who Would Win in a Fight?

Dormammu vs. galactus: who is more powerful, and who wins .

Galactus is more powerful than Dormammu and would likely best him in a one-on-one battle. Dormammu is extremely powerful and capable of manipulating reality inside his own dimension. However, not even this ultimate control saved him from Galactus’ wrath. Galactus could assume full control of his abilities, even the Dark Dimension, and promptly defeated Dormammu. In terms of raw powers, Galactus wins every time.

Scarlet Witch versus Dormammu. Who Wins?

Who would win in a one-on-one battle between Scarlet Witch and Dormammu?

The reality is that the power level of all comic book characters can vary greatly depending what the story needs from them at any given point. But if we take away all the conveniences of the storytelling nature of comics, and throw two characters into the ring together, what happens? Unfortunately, there is never a definitive answer (even if the characters have already fought in the comics), but I will attempt to make a relatively unbiased prediction between Scarlet Witch and Dormammu.

Character Comparison

Here’s a quick comparison of Scarlet Witch and Dormammu.

So, Who Wins?

There is more than one way to judge who will win in a fight between Scarlet Witch and Dormammu. Let’s look at a couple of them and then attempt to come to a verdict.

Total Up The Strength Values

If we total up all the strength values found on Marvel.com for Scarlet Witch and Dormammu we see that Scarlet Witch has a total of 18 and Dormammu has a total of 38.

Highest Total Strength : Dormammu

Weight The Strength Values

I would argue that some of these strengths are more important than others for a few rounds in the ring. For example, fighting ability is probably more important than speed. While speed and strength are of relatively equal importance.

So my completely subjective opinion about the importance of each strength is as follows:

  • Speed and strength are weighted as 1
  • Fighting and durability are weighted as 3
  • Energy Projection is weighted as 4
  • Intelligence is weighted as 6

So in this (completely made up and subjective) model, fighting ability is three times more as important as speed and intelligence is twice as important as fighting ability.

Scarlet Witch has a total of 61 and Dormammu has a total of 111.

Highest Weighted Strength : Dormammu

Compare the Characters’ Abilities and Weaknesses

This section is still under construction. It has thus far been difficult to come up with a system that works well across all characters…

Final Verdict: Dormammu Wins

We have a winner! Using the comparisons I currently have set up, Dormammu wins in a fight against Scarlet Witch.
