123telugu.com Rating : 2.75/5

Starring: Satyam Rajesh, Bala Aditya, Dr. Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Getup Srinu, Ravi Varma, Chitram Srinu

Director: Dr. Anil Vishwanath

Producers: Bhogendra Gupta

Music Director: Gyaani

Cinematography : Jagan Chavali

Editor: K.S. Rajasekaran

Maa Oori Polimera is the latest direct to OTT outing from Tollywood. The film has Satyam Rajesh in the lead role and it is billed to be a rustic drama. Here is our review of the film.

Komarayya, Balji, and Jangayya are brothers who reside in a rural area in Telangana. Their lives take a turn for the worst after the sudden passing away of their village’s sarpanch. What is the mystery behind the death of the sarpanch? How does it ll affect the lives of the aforementioned individuals and their families?

Plus Points:

The rustic setup that plays an integral role in the narrative has been presented well. The atmospherics add to the essence of the film. The murder mystery plot has moments of brilliance. The twists in the tale keep the audience hooked to an extent.

The film is powered by fine performances from the lead cast. Satyam Rajesh delivers a superb performance in the central role. The background score is riveting and it maintains the momentum of the proceedings on screen. The film is technically sleek.

Minus Points:

The film gets off to a rather poor start. The scenes pertaining to the establishment of oppression of women in the village don’t make for a good viewing to the family audiences. Also, the screenplay is patchy. Almost every gripping scene is followed by a bland set of sequences.

Maa Oori Polimera, to an extent deals with the concept of black magic and it doesn’t necessarily strike a chord with all sections of the audience. It caters only to a selected section of OTT audience.

Technical Aspects:

The director Anil Viswanath picks a raw and rustic subject and he gets it right as far as the murder mystery goes. He narrates the thrilling sequences with good conviction. But the drama surrounding the same is not upto the mark. A handful of bland sequences dampen the screenplay every now and again. The cinematography and background score are of very good quality. The runtime is crisp.

Maa Oori Polimera is a mixed bag. It has its moment of brilliance when it comes to the murder mystery plot. But the drama isn’t sustained through the course of the film. It doesn’t make for a good viewership for the family audience, owing to the adult content. But if you like realistic drama, you might give it a try.

Maa Oori Polimera 2 review: A creepy yet a nailbiting sequel with an overdose of twists, flashbacks

Satyam Rajesh, Kamakshi Bhaskarla headline a formidable thriller where everyone isn't who they claim to be

Maa Oori Polimera 2 review: A creepy yet a nailbiting sequel with an overdose of twists, flashbacks

A married auto driver Komaraiah, after eloping with Kavitha, settles down in Kerala. Back in his village Jastipalli, his friends and family have no clue of his wherabouts. Komaraiah's brother Jangaiah, a constable, is nowhere to be found in the village either. A series of mysterious deaths around an abandoned temple creates tension among the locals. Ravindra Naik, a newly appointed cop, is out to find answers.

Dr Anil Vishwanath, who made the spine-chilling Maa Oori Polimera, returns with its sequel, dangerously toeing around the thin line between telling a story about superstitions, black magic and not glorifying them. Bolstered by the confidence of the predecessor's popularity, the sequel is wilder, grander and is on a mission to keep throwing the viewer off guard with its twists, flashbacks. Yet, there's enough meat in the thriller to ensure a compelling big screen experience.

image_item

The makers are clearly aware that a majority of their target audience may not be aware of its prequel's existence. In the initial half an hour, there's enough time to soak in the world of black magic, rigid religious beliefs, infidelity, an abandoned temple and its hidden treasures. Given its expansive world, there's a lot of backstories that a first-time viewer may find it hard to process. The screenplay is intentionally mysterious to create more impact with the explosive twists in the latter half.

The film starts like an investigative thriller and keeps alternating between Komaraiah's past and his wife Laxmi's present. In the subplot revolving around the cursed temple and its riches, there's enough attention to detail. What connects Komaraiah to his belief in black magic and the temple's legacy? The director is guarded with the characterisation and times his revelations masterfully, ensuring that the narrative never loses its steam.

To ensure he stays true to the world of the film and sustains its tension, the director goes slightly overboard in depicting nuances of black magic. With the dense material, complex characters and their flashbacks, the viewer is left confused at times and loses track of the narrative. The film is restlessly packed with events - most of them come with a purpose and enrich the viewing experience, but you wish the storytelling relied less on its shock value and offered more breathing space.

The fascinating aspect of Maa Oori Polimera 2 is the absence of any do-gooder or larger-than-life characters. You are not burdened to root for the protagonist and get to witness a story from multiple tangents, a rarity in Telugu cinema. Unlike its prequel, the canvas is bigger and the technical finesse contributes to its appeal. Polimera 2, on the contrary, lacks the groundedness and the simplicity of the first part.

Barring the mumbo-jumbo around the superstitions, the director is aware and in control of his craft. Unlike Virupaksha, that nearly justified pre-medieval beliefs and dogmas, you sense a genuine effort to confront problematic rituals, practices. For every Komaraiah, there's a Balija and a Laxmi who confront his ideas. The beautifully staged pre-climax sequence explains the storyteller's intent. Raising the stakes, there's a promise for a third instalment too.

If the first part provided each of its actors adequate scope to shine, the sequel is an out-and-out Satyam Rajesh show. He's not new to grey roles but the absolute conviction and the authority with which he pulls off Komaraiah showcases a newer, untapped dimension to the actor. Kamakshi Bhaskarla surrenders to the part of a progressive rural wife and registers a terrific impact with her screen presence despite the minimal screen time.

The strong lineup comprising Getup Srinu, Rakendu Mouli, Chitram Seenu, Ravi Varma, Janardhan drive the story forward commendably. The runtime, at just over 2 hours, is perfect for the genre and the world of the film. A bulk of Maa Oori Polimera 2 may revolve around archaic beliefs but Anil Vishwanath's story is important because of how he choses to condemn them in a cinematically convincing manner.

Watch Gadar 2 on OTTplay by subscribing to the Jhakaas pack which provides access to 16 OTTs at just Rs 199/month.

Maa Oori Polimera 2 has all the ingredients to entice a thriller-junkie with a restless, twist-a-minute screenplay (with an overdose of flashbacks) backed by commendable performances. Watch out for Satyam Rajesh, Kamakshi Bhaskarla's work. If the first part proved Anil Vishwanath's worth as a writer, the sequel asserts his arrival as a capable filmmaker too.

(Maa oori polimera 2 review in telugu)

(Maa oori polimera 2 review in telugu) (Maa oori polimera 2 review in telugu)

(Maa oori polimera 2 review in telugu)

Maa Oori Polimera 2 Review

Maa Oori Polimera 2 Review: What's Behind

Satyam Rajesh's Maa Oori Polimera 2 has been capturing the imagination of all ever since its announcement. This because, the film is the sequel to the hit film Maa Oori Polimera. Maa Ooori Polimera which streamed on OTT turned out to be a silent hit. The  makers buoyed by its success announced that the film will release in theatres. The film directed by ANil Vishwanath hit the screens today in theatres. Let us find out whether Maa Oori Polimera 2 thrilled viewers or not.

Maa Oori Polimera 2 (2023) Movie: Story Review

Maa Oori Polimera 2 picks up right where its predecessor left off. The story revolves around Jangaiah (Baladitya), an upright police officer determined to uncover the truth behind the mysterious disappearance of his brother, Komaraiah (Satyam Rajesh). Komaraiah is suspected of being involved in the dark arts of black magic and witchcraft, allegedly responsible for several deaths in the village of Jastipalli.

As Jangaiah delves deeper into the investigation, suspicion mounts when Komaraiah's family, including his wife Lachimi (Kamakshi Bhaskarala) and Balija (Getup Srinu), suddenly withdraw their support at the last moment. Amidst this perplexing scenario, the newly appointed Sub-Inspector, Ravindra Nayak (Rakendu Mouli), uncovers startling revelations about Komaraiah and the ancient temple in Jastipalli, which has intriguing connections to the world-famous Anantha Padmanabha Swamy Temple in Kerala. These discoveries set the stage for a series of captivating twists and turns in the narrative.

Maa Oori Polimera 2 Telugu Movie: Artists Review

Satyam Rajesh once again showcases his remarkable versatility as an actor, seamlessly slipping into the challenging role presented to him by the filmmakers. Continuing from where he left off in the first part, he portrays the enigmatic character of Komaraiah, a practitioner of black magic and witchcraft who strives to achieve his dreams. Throughout the film, his character's innocent facade often deceives viewers, eliciting sympathy. Satyam Rajesh's performance is marked by a high level of intensity, accompanied by powerful expressions and emotions. His ability to adapt his body language to the role and deliver dialogue with precision is truly commendable.

Rakendu Mouli, in the role of the investigating officer, delivers a solid performance. He aptly fits the role of a police officer and handles his dialogues with ease. Kamakshi Bhaskarala, playing Satyam Rajesh's wife, skillfully portrays the character's caring and longing demeanor while revealing her inner strength when confronted with the harsh reality. Additionally, the supporting cast, including Baladitya, Getup Srinu, Chitram Sreenu, and Ravi Varma, do justice to their respective roles, enhancing the overall performance of the film.

Maa Oori Polimera 2 Telugu Film: Technicians Review

Maa Oori Polimera 2, a story penned by Anil Vishwanath that continues the narrative from the first installment, delves deeper into the character of Satyam Rajesh. Through his storytelling, screenplay, and direction, Anil Vishwanath manages to maintain the audience's interest for the majority of the film's duration. However, there are instances of illogical scenes scattered throughout, which temporarily disrupt the narrative flow.

The film opens at a leisurely pace, almost resembling a recap of the preceding Maa Oori Polimera. Yet, as the initial segment concludes, the narrative gains momentum, leading to an engaging first half. This momentum carries into the second half, maintaining the intensity.

Nevertheless, despite a poignant pre-climax that beautifully explores the emotions of Satyam Rajesh and his wife Kamakshi, the climax feels rushed. Anil Vishwanath wraps up the film while hinting at a third part, but a more intense climax could have delivered a more satisfying outcome.

Gyaani's background score deserves special mention, elevating the overall impact of the movie. His music takes the film to new heights and resonates powerfully with the audience. Kushender Ramesh Reddy's cinematography captures the beauty of Kerala and the village settings exceptionally well, portraying the natural and supernatural elements with intensity. Sri Vaara's editing effectively maintains the narrative's pace, ensuring a smooth viewing experience. The dialogues are well-crafted, and the production values are commendable.

Maa Oori Polimera 2 Movie: Rating Analysis

Maa Oori Polimera 2 offers an entertaining ride with its intriguing twists and turns. Satyam Rajesh's stellar performance and Anil Vishwanath's commendable screenplay and direction elevate the film to new heights. Viewers must approach this sequel with an open mind and avoid comparing it to the first installment. The storyline is engaging, and the director has meticulously tied up any loose ends. Notably, the thought-provoking dialogues in the pre-climax about the significance of education resonate with a wide audience. Taking all these aspects into account, Cinejosh rates Maa Oori Polimera 2 with a solid 2.5 out of 5 stars .

'Longlegs' movie will haunt your nightmares and 'hijack your subconscious,' critics say

polimera movie review rating

The reviews are in and the critics agree unanimously: "Longlegs" is absolutely terrifying.

Neon's horror thriller film, starring Nicolas Cage as an unstable rural dollmaker and Maika Monroe as a young FBI agent, had its red carpet premiere at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles, California, on Tuesday.

Fans in attendance were each gifted a red 45" vinyl covered in "Longlegs Cipher," but left the theater too scared to play the soundtrack.

"Longlegs" is the latest film from actor and screenwriter Osg o od "Oz" Perkins , who is also the son of Anthony Perkins, the star of Alfred Hitchcock’s "Psycho. "

The film follows FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) as she tackles an unsolved serial killer case plaguing her small Pacific Northwest town, and takes an unexpected, supernatural turn as she discovers a personal connection to the occult killer.

Here's what critics are saying about "Longlegs."

'Longlegs' will 'hijack your subconscious,' critics say

Critics are calling "Longlegs" a true horror film, with Peter Debruge of Variety writing that it can "hijack your subconscious:" "Less than 12 hours after seeing it, the demented Nicolas Cage character resurfaced in my nightmares."

David Ehrlich of Indie Wire shared a similar sentiment in his review: "Terrifying in the abstract even as it grows increasingly absurd to watch, 'Longlegs' slinks its way into that liminal space between childhood nightmares and grown-up practicalities."

The H o llywood Reporter calls "Longlegs" Perkins' "most fully realized and relentlessly effective film to date," despite concerns that he may "stir too many elements into the mix here."

Neon has used strategic marketing to convey the horror level of this film, releasing a teaser stating that "the first time Maika Monroe saw Nicolas Cage as Longlegs, her heart rate hit 170 bpm."

One user replied , "the marketing for this film (is) so good i’m actually getting worried."

"Longlegs" stars Blair Underwood as Agent Carter and Alicia Witt as Ruth Harker, Lee Harker's ultra-religious mother. The ensemble cast includes Michelle Choi Lee, Dakota Daulby, Lauren Acala, Kieran Shipka, and Maila Hosie.

KALKI 2898 AD

Shawn levy's star wars movie taps 'adam project' writer jonathan tropper, ben burtt, the man behind the voices of r2-d2, e.t., and wall-e, to be honored at locarno, kalki 2898 ad.

Cut to 6,000 years later (check the film’s title for the exact date), when the planet has been reduced to a post-apocalyptic, dystopian society (just once, I’d like to see a sci-fi movie where things have actually gotten better in the future) in which the elites naturally hog precious resources, including water, which can be purchased with “credits.” Those upper-crust types live in a giant inverted pyramid called the “Complex,” which thankfully doesn’t have the name “Trump” emblazoned on it, while the plebeians live in a slum below. Overseeing the Complex is Supreme Yaskin (Kamal Haasan), who seems in desperate need of moisturizer. He runs the nefarious Project K, which drains pregnant women of their fluids, which he uses as a youth serum. Afterwards, they’re incinerated.

There’s a lot more going on in terms of a plethora of other characters and subplots, but you’re probably already as exhausted reading this as I am writing it. Suffice it to say that you could easily amuse yourself during the film simply by spotting its inspirations, with Star Wars first and foremost among them —Bhairava has a helpful companion in the form of a robot that acts like a miniature version of R2-D2; Supreme Yaskin’s minions bear no small resemblance to Stormtroopers, etc. — although, if memory serves, Stars Wars didn’t throw in the occasional musical number like this film does.

But Stars Wars is just the beginning. You can also spot references to numerous Marvel films, Mad Max: Fury Road , Bane in The Dark Knight Rises , Dune , The Matrix , Blade Runner and the Harry Potter series, among others. And the character of Roxie (Disha Patani), Bhairava’s love interest who displays admirable fighting prowess while rocking a midriff-baring outfit, could give Princess Leia a run for her money, especially when it comes to snappy remarks. “I thought you wanted me,” she tells Bhairava while subduing him in a headlock. “But you only wanted my credits.”

Ultimately, for all its wildly entertaining elements, Kalki 2898 AD feels like too much of a good thing, resembling the sort of lavish buffet meal that leaves you feeling overstuffed and exhausted. But fans of this particular style of cinema are not likely to mind.

What is it about the sound of wind? It can be undeniably relaxing, a common setting on white noise machines. But there’s something slightly menacing about it as well. Something coming. Something moving. A storm on the horizon. A pathogen traveling through the air.

The sound of wind rustling the grass and leaves is almost a character in “Family Portrait,” adding to a rising tension in this unique, confidently made film that very purposefully plays more like a dream than realism. Set in the days just before COVID, it’s a foreboding film, a drama that recreates the sense that something bad is going to happen or may have happened already, and the common practice of a frozen shot of a happy family doesn’t capture what’s happening around that single second of forced smiling. That might make “Family Portrait” sound like a melodrama as hundreds of filmmakers have used events like the one Kerr does here to unpack the fragile bonds between blood relatives and those who marry their way onto family trees. But this is not exactly that movie. This is a relatively happy family. Like so many were in early 2020.

Kerr’s opening shot is one of the best cinematic overtures of the year. In silence, we watch a group of seemingly well-off people moving through a field, images that recall a family gathering. It’s almost as if the camera can’t figure out who it should settle on, giving us the POV of a participant in the event while also defining the film’s fluid visual language. A character walks into a moving frame that goes too fast for her to keep up or slides over to someone else, almost like the wind is moving it. Silent at first, the sounds of the event slowly filter in as the kids play and the adults talk over one another.

After that tone-setter, Kerr settles into a large family estate where relatives have gathered for an annual event: the taking of a photograph for the year’s holiday card. Most scenes unfold with a static camera, almost as if someone placed one in the room to eavesdrop on a conversation – although that shouldn’t be construed as a criticism of Kerr’s incredibly strong eye, one that can make even these frozen shots feel more than mundane.

Eventually, a protagonist emerges in the form of Katy ( Deragh Campbell ), who has brought her Polish boyfriend Olek ( Chris Galust ) home to take the family portrait. Tension seems to emerge from the fact that he’s not included in the shot and that no one seems to have the urgency needed to take it with enough time for Katy and Olek to make their flight out. Conversations circle back to some of the international tension with talk of the death of a family member and a fascinating one about a photograph that may not be what it seems – you know, like how family photos don’t tell the whole story too.

It becomes clear that the matriarch of this clan has inexplicably disappeared. They can’t take the photo until they find Mom, but only Katy seems overly concerned. Is it because of the flight she might miss, or is something stranger going on? An extended sequence in which Katy walks the grounds and swims leads to a companion shot to that opening montage in which, soaking wet, she moves through a space where she passes other family members. Again, Kerr’s camera isn’t locked on Katy in a traditional manner, enhancing a sense of displacement and confusion – two things that would define so much of 2020.

Even at 74 minutes, “Family Portrait” sometimes feels like it would have made a stronger 20-minute short film. It’s stuck in that space where a filmmaker has too many ideas for a short but not quite enough meat on the bones for a feature.

And yet, a mastery of tone here makes that criticism fade in memory—kind of like how we pick and choose what we remember from family gatherings. Snippets of discussions with interactions come to me when I think of annual Tallerico family reunions of my youth, and the photo that usually ended such events. If I close my eyes, I can almost hear the wind.

Music - Gyaani

“Maa Oori Polimera,” which was confined to an OTT release two years ago, did garner attention. Given this partial success, the makers have now come up with a sequel, aiming to cater to a larger audience by releasing it in theaters. The film is generating more buzz than its previous installment, and the trailer has piqued curiosity. Will this sequel live up to the hype and draw audiences? Let’s find out.

What is it about?

Set in the superstitious village of Jasthipalli, police constable Jangaiah (Baladitya) goes missing. His elder brother Komuraiah (Satyam Rajesh) was involved in black magic and is suspected to be dead. The arrival of the new SI, Ravindra Naik (Rakendu Mouli), brings the focus on Jangaiah’s disappearance. As he tries to unravel the mystery surrounding Komuraiah and Jangaiah, shocking details are uncovered. Komuraiah’s actions are directly linked to the closed Lord Vishnu temple and the treasure beneath it. How is black magic involved, and what’s the mystery? “Maa Oori Polimera 2” has some answers to these questions and saves some for part 3.

Performances:

Director Anil sticks to the original cast of the film. Satyam Rajesh, Baladitya, and Getup Sreenu have done justice to their roles. Satyam Rajesh shines in his author-backed role. Kamakshi Bhaskarla’s role is downplayed and holds a surprise towards the end. Acting-wise, there is nothing to find fault with. Getup Sreenu’s wife, Ramula, and her flashback are a bit disconnected and unconvincing. The villain scenes are routine and weak. A corporate villain gang going after the temple treasure is nostalgic and has been done to death before.

Technicalities:

Director Anil Viswanath knows his limitations and strengths when making a sequel. A handful of twists contribute to the quality of the writing. However, from a technical perspective, it falls short. The cinematography and VFX portions could be improved. The film’s narrative, especially during the last part, is not as gripping as it is in the previous sections. The repeated screenplay is a drawback, but the background music hits the right notes.

Thrilling Elements Twists & Story Treatment

Thumbs Down:

Incomplete Temple Treasure Mystery Unwanted Flashbacks & Repeated Screenplay Dragged Climax Portion

Thriller is a solid genre with a dedicated audience base. Films like “Virupaksha,” “Ekkadiki Pothavu Chinnavada,” “Karthikeya,” and, to some extent, “Karthikeya 2” (treasure-hunt) have successfully explored the genre. Director Anil Viswanath attempts this genre and aims to achieve a similar feat, but he is only partially successful in this attempt. While he has decent writing with twists, he falls short of delivering a truly gripping thriller.

Anil Viswanath chose an intriguing plot and built a compelling story around it. He successfully incorporated thrilling elements and twists. The treatment of the film sets its tone and mood, with the background score effectively supporting the intense visuals. The scene where Komuraiah is surrounded by a group of snakes is spine-chilling, and the black magic scenes are captivating. However, the director includes some unnecessary flashback episodes, particularly the one involving Ramula, which is portrayed in an unconvincing manner and disconnects the viewers. The repeated screenplay feels overdone and may put off the audience.

There is a lag in narration towards the end of the film. The climax portion is dragged and delayed, and the director doesn’t fully resolve the mystery surrounding the temple treasury. The villain portions are left unaddressed. Despite these shortcomings, the writing prioritizes logic, and all the dots are connected.

In conclusion, “Maa Oori Polimera 2” is a decent thriller with potential to grow, but it falls short of creating a truly gripping experience. Those familiar with “Maa Oori Polimera” may find some satisfaction, but the film leaves the audience craving for a more captivating thriller.

Bottom Line: Not Gripping

Rating: 2.25/5

‘Longlegs’ Review: Daddy Danger

Nicolas Cage plays the cheery evil entity behind multiple murders in this weakly plotted, strongly styled chiller.

A woman with blood on her stands against a blood-splattered wall.

By Jeannette Catsoulis

Any horror movie that opens, as “Longlegs” does, with a quotation from a British glam-rock hit of the 1970s, suggests a filmmaker with, at the very least, an offbeat sensibility. Even so, this latest feature from the abundantly talented writer and director Osgood Perkins is a puzzler: Stuffed to the rafters with serial-killer clichés — coded messages, creepy dolls, satanic symbols, an androgynous maniac — the plot plays like a sampler of many, more coherent precursors. There’s even a minion dressed as a nun.

And that’s before we attempt to process Nicolas Cage (who else?) as the titular nut case. His appearances are brief, but resounding — and, as can happen with Cage, waver on the brink of parody. Much like the film itself, righted in part by the magnificently bleak mood and prickling sense of premonition that emerge from Andrés Arochi’s mold-colored images. This man can make a deserted, plastic-draped lair look as ominous as hell’s anteroom.

Preparing to enter is Lee Harker (Maika Monroe), a rather green F.B.I. agent on the trail of a serial killer who somehow persuades fathers to slaughter their families and then commit suicide. Coded notes, signed “Longlegs,” are left at the crime scenes and law enforcement is stymied. But Lee, who had a disturbing encounter with Longlegs as a child, appears to have a psychic connection with the monster. So, too, does her mother (Alicia Witt), and the two’s haunted, wary relationship thrums with unspoken secrets.

Set in Oregon in the 1990s, “Longlegs” wrestles to maintain its eerily menacing tone. The movie’s echoing spaces — a snowy landscape, Lee’s wondrously gloomy home — and wily performances (especially from Kiernan Shipka as an institutionalized survivor of the killings) are too often undercut by a strangely off-kilter comedy. Much of this resides in Longlegs himself, an apparent victim of botched plastic surgery whom Cage plays as a rhyming-and-singing lunatic beneath a frizzed gray wig. In one amusing scene, as Longlegs enters a hardware store sporting what appear to be slippers and a housedress, he resembles nothing so much as a bizarre amalgam of Buffalo Bill and Tootsie . He should have been a breeze to catch.

Scenes like this one (which benefits from a dry cameo by the director’s daughter, Bea Perkins, as a spectacularly unfazed clerk), in common with random moments throughout the movie, have a dottiness that seems intentional and suggests that Perkins might be messing with us. As chilling and stylish as it is, “Longlegs” is a frustrating pleasure. In films like “ I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives In the House ” (2016) and “The Blackcoats Daughter” (2017), Perkins allowed his gift for ominousness and insinuation to take center stage. Here, we’re never quite sure if his tongue is in his cheek or his hand is on his heart.

Longlegs Rated R for malevolence, madness and mass murder. Running time: 1 hour 41 minutes. In theaters.

Verdict: Maa Oori Polimera is another small film to spring a surprise on OTT. Despite having only a handful of familiar faces, the director Anil Vishwanath packs a punch with a taut thriller bolstered by fine performances and a riveting screenplay. Watch out for Satyam Rajesh in what's certain to be one of his finest performances, if not the best.

  24. Family Portrait movie review & film summary (2024)

That might make "Family Portrait" sound like a melodrama as hundreds of filmmakers have used events like the one Kerr does here to unpack the fragile bonds between blood relatives and those who marry their way onto family trees.
