My simple review is: It was made for people who haven't read the manga. The story was lacking. In the best way, it was too soft. Vanitas' issues were downplayed. Especially during the ball and he was reduced to "Silly looking Vani wants to play doctor." It's supposed to be bread crumbs. A slow fall. Important things were dropped. Things in the catacombs were dropped. Foreshadowing is a key player here. Animation was good. It kept the pretty boy style and didn't rob Jeanne of her shape. I really have nothing to say about sound. Characters, characters, characters. Yes I love the characters but not as much here. Vanitas went from angry at him self to sad boi. Domi had more to her character. Her obsession with Jeanne was not simply to dance and make Noe upset. Olivier... I won't start on him. Characters had corners chisseled off. They were ironed out. They were watered down. It's disappointing. What saves this and gives it a better review? Animation and sound. But a note to everyone getting upset about the ending being given away in the beginning: It's a history. That's why episodes and chapters are called memiors. Adding on as RIPAnime suggests: I find the characters watered down because there wasn't enough time to explain the issues they have. Parts that could help were skipped. Vanitas has issues with his past and he has those issues today. Dominique isn't upset simply because of Noe not returning her feelings. She likes and cares for Jeanne genuinely, but the affection isn't there enough. Character development does happen later, but it seems like it will be harder without these starting pieces. While we don't get to the bottom of their past at the beginning, we haven't gotten far from the surface when we should be digging a hole. this shit is fucking amazing. good job bones for doing the manga justice. Vampires in Paris, The City of Flowers, beware, something evil lurks, hunting for your true name. Child or elder, it matters not. Parade of Charlatan will twist you, make you a monster. You're own family will be your feast. Your only salvation is the infamous clockwork grimoire, The Book of Vanitas or death. Noé Archiviste searches for the book, only to have it come to him via a charismatic, unhinged young man calling himself Vanitas, a vampire doctor. Whitty, bloody, and sexy (but not ecchi); it's quite the fun ride. As the series progresses we learn more about the characters' dark, blood splattered pasts all with beautiful art and comedy mixed in. If you like this series, I recommend reading the manga of the same title to get deeper into these characters. The anime is nearly all canon, but there are a few things that are glossed over. I rate it 16+. A child is beheaded right in front of their friend. Lots of blood and thoughts of suicide. Related animeLMYK: 0 (zero) (English Version) - 2021-08-19 - 2021-08-19

How Many Episodes Will Season 1 of The Case Study of Vanitas Have? The Case Study of Vanitas, also known as Vanitas no Karte takes us into the enchanting world of J... Published: Aug 04, 2021, 11:04 am Updated: Oct 20, 2021, 3:33 am The Case Study of Vanitas , also known as Vanitas no Karte takes us into the enchanting world of Jun Mochizuki, whom you might also know from his shonen manga Pandora Hears. This time around, we're traveling to an alternative, steampunk Paris, inhabited by vampires who mostly live normally among humans – unless they become cursed and attain an unacceptable bloodlust, that is. So, how many episodes will The Case Study of Vanitas have? In this gorgeously animated series by studio Bones, we encounter an intricate vampire society, mostly through the eyes of Noé Archiviste. The young vampire is looking for the Book of Vanitas, a legendary grimoire, written by a vampire who was hated by his peers due to having been born under a blue instead of a red moon. His curse book is his revenge against vampires, as it tells its users how to corrupt a vampire's true name, causing them to go berserk against their own. When Noé arrives in Paris, he's shocked to find a said book in the hands of a human, who has inherited Vanitas' name, and his legacy. This new Vanitas is a self-proclaimed doctor of vampires, healing them from the very sickness the grimoire supposedly causes. With the common goal to cure vampires, the two team up. Complicating matters is the fact that Vanitas is really obnoxious and hard to work with, not to mention that he most likely hides sinister secrets. The anime first started airing this July, and international fans can watch it with English subtitles on Hulu and Funimation , while the English dub has also started airing. If you check the title out on MyAnimeList, you'll find 12 episodes, which might be disappointed if you can't have enough of the truly magical art style. Related: Is The Dungeon of Black Company Manga Complete, Finished, or Ongoing? Here is the Current Status of the Series Thankfully, this is only half of the story, as Vanitas no Karte is a two- cour anime. This means that the first season will air in two batches of 12, meaning that The Case Study of Vanitas will have a total of 24 episodes. Since the two cours feature as separate entries on the popular anime database, we can assume that this will be a split cour, with the second part skipping a season and airing next winter, rather than next autumn. We can't know for sure yet, but we'll update this space should an announcement be made. Vampire stories in the anime world are well received and are considered a trendy genre. These stories are unique, often blending a variety genres together to craft unique fantasy stories. While names like One Piece and Demon Slayer have dominated the anime scene since last year, a surprise summer breakout vampire story managed to climb its way into the top anime of 2021. The Case Study of Vanitas is not a typical human-meets-vampire story. On the contrary, the series is an elaborate fantasy world with elements of steampunk and gothic aesthetics topped with compelling vampire lore. The series takes place in 19th century Paris, where, miraculously, vampires can survive without consuming human blood. Related: In/Spectre Season 1's Biggest Unanswered Questions In Season 1, the two leads -- Noe Archiviste and Vanitas -- set out in search of "the Beast", a rogue vampire that has been slaughtering innocent people. The duo is determined to find the one responsible for budding impurity in the vampires’ hearts. The twelve episode series immediately stuck out to anime fans, so much so that it didn’t take long to renew the series for a second season. Fortunately, Season 2 has already begun airing, and viewers are excited to see if their fan theories will be confirmed. The Case Study of Vanitas Season 2 picks up directly. With ten episodes already released, and the tale of the Beast of Gevaudan explored in detail, the plot has begun focusing on Chloe, Jean-Jacques, and Astolfo’s backstories. Mystery still surrounds Ruthven, who failed to kill Noe, hinting at a greater conflict in the future. The Case Study of Vanitas continues to excell in developing its characters. Season 2 has stayed devoted to developing existing cast members while introducing new characters that stay true to the gothic aesthetic. In terms of character writing, even minor cast members are able to captivate viewers and make their presence known. Related: The Case Study of Vanitas’ Complex Shipping Situation That being said, the spotlight still shines on Vanitas and Noe’s turbulent friendship . However, their complicated relationship is what makes The Case Study of Vanitas so entertaining. Without any major spoilers -- the way Noe managed to rescue Vanitas and teach him how to trust again feels genuine and satisfying to the audience. Their relationship feels stronger than ever before. Speaking of relationships, The Case Study of Vanitas has continued to hint at multiple romantic prospects amongst its cast members. Even though Vanitas and Jeanne make a promising couple, their current status is difficult to place. All in all, the second season of The Case Study of Vanitas will make an excellent watch for fans, and with how well the series has been received by audiences, many are confident for a prospective third season. The Case Study Of Vanitas - What We Know So FarAvid manga readers have probably picked up, or at least heard of, "The Case Study of Vanitas." Set in 19th century Paris, the story's use of steampunk has produced gorgeous and unique art that puts one in mind of the ever-popular "Black Butler." However, the aesthetic isn't the only thing that makes this story interesting. Created by Jun Mochizuki ("Pandora Heart"), "Case Study" follows Noé Archiviste as he aids Vanitas on his journey to help vampires from giving into their predatory nature. It is not an easy task though, as danger lurks in every corner and a force called the Charlatan tries to corrupt the vampires before they can be saved. The series has appeared in Square Enix's "Monthly Gangan Joker" since 2015, and has since produced 8 volumes. Fans of "Case Study" will be pleased to know that Vanitas and Noé will be animated. The anime will be adapted by Bones Inc. Studio, which is known for producing popular series such as " Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood ," "Ouran High School Host Club" and, most recently, "My Hero Academia." Here is everything we know about "The Case Study of Vanitas." When will The Case Study of Vanitas be released?According to Anime News Network , Aniplex revealed back in March that the anime adaptation of "The Case Study of Vanitas" was on its way. It was later announced that the series would premiere on July 2nd and will air across multiple TV networks (via Crunchyroll ). In addition to Bones Inc., Tomoyuki Itamura of "Owarimonogatari" will be directing, while Deko Akao of "Snow White with the Red Hair" and Yoshiyuki Ito of "Carole & Tuesday" will be serving as the script overseer and the character designer, respectively. The anime's official Twitter also recently attached a trailer , which features Vanita's book of healing, fights with vicious vampires , and of course, the stunning 19th century Paris in which all the action takes place. Fan reaction to the over minute-long teaser was overwhelming, with many merely responding with heart-eyes emojis and gifs to accurately express their excitement. With only a couple of weeks to go, viewers won't have to wait long to return to Vanita's world or venture into it for the very first time. What characters will be in the "The Case Study of Vanitas?""The Case Study of Vanitas" features a wide variety of characters, who add more to both the plot and various relationships. If the anime will cover the first 40 or so chapters, fans can expect many of these people to make an appearance. Vanitas is the current holder of the Book of Vanitas, and thanks to its powers, he can do amazing things, though he claims to be a normal human. Despite his seemingly carefree personality, Vanitas' childhood — his parents were murdered by a vampire and his guardian subjected him to painful tests — has shaped who he is and what he does. During his travels, he meets Noé Archiviste, a man seeking the Book under the orders of his teacher. Noé is very caring, and because of this, he travels with Vanitas, finding his mission to save vampires rather than kill them to be an honorable deed. On Noé's and Vanitas' journeys, they come across other friends and enemies. These include Jeanne, an enslaved vampire ordered to kill her own kind; Luca, a young vampire and son of the Grand Duke; Dominique, Noé's childhood friend who harbors unrequited feelings for him, and the Teacher, a cruel, mysterious, and ancient vampire that exploits his students. The series is also likely to expand on supporting characters responsible for leading the main cast into even more perilous situations. What will be the plot of "The Case Study of Vanitas?"Noé Archiviste hopes to find the legendary Book of Vanitas, a relic with extraordinary powers. Aboard a 19th century blimp, he meets Vanitas, the newest inheritor of the ancient text. Together, they search for sick vampires and use the power of the book to heal them. Most animes' first seasons usually follow up to the manga's sixth or seventh volume, so we can expect this series to do the same. Within those approximately 40 chapters, the adaptation will depict Noé's first meeting with Vanitas, how Vanitas utilizes the book to get the job done, the introductions of Luca, Jeanne, and Dominique, Noé's relationship with the mysterious Teacher, and the risks of dealing with bloodsuckers and the Charlatan that threatens to undo Vanitas' work and continue to corrupt any vampires. Though there are more than seven volumes currently published, fans will have to wait for the "Case Study of Vanitas" to get renewed if they want to see the next adventure animated.
