Love You Rachchu Movie Review: This romantic thriller comes with interesting twists but leads to a dead-end

With a story written by director Shashank and executed by debut director Shankar S Raj, and filmmaker Guru Deshpande as creative head, Love You Rachchu is a romantic thriller that revolves around a happily married couple. A year into marriage, Ajay (Ajay), who holds a good job at a private firm, wants to spend his wife’s (Rachita Ram) birthday at a resort. However, his plan goes awry when Ajay gets back home and finds his driver (Raghu Shivamogga) murdered. His wife explains, what led to the murder. The couple decides to go on with the vacation plan. But, now, they two have to carry the corpse along with them.

The film is about this journey filled with emotional struggles, relationships, blackmail, fear, and accidental death. The tale has several suspenseful twists and opens up many secrets of the couple’s past. As the two try to make their relationship work, another twist derails everything. The film ends on a not-so-predictable note, but it will not linger in the audience’s mind for a long time.

Moral learned: Don’t invite your past. Karma is like a boomerang that will sooner or later come back to you -- this quote well suits the climax of Love You Rachchu .

Though the film brings in elements of surprise, debutant director Shankar S Raj takes a casual approach with his work. Thus, the plan does not let the audience experience any excitement. While the first-timer has done a decent job, he fails to bring in the edge-of-the-seat thrills. Likewise, a few scenes in the film seem unnecessary to the film’s proceedings.

Director Shashank has scripted a good story for the film. I kept wondering if the film would have worked better if he had directed the film as well. Though Ajay Rao is known for his intense roles, the usual depth in his performance is not seen in Love You Rachchu , and there is no extra effort seen from his end. Rachita has by now come out of her comfort zone and the run-of-the-mill stories. The film proves that she is a performer, and it depends on how much one can extract that good ability from her. Both the lead actors seem to have gone by the director’s instructions.

Though the romantic thriller may not give you heart-racing moments, one might end up liking its story and its message.

Love You Rachchu OTT release date: When and where to watch the Ajai Rao-Rachita Ram thriller

The Shankar S Raj directorial, which was based on a script by filmmaker Shashank and produced by Guru Deshpande, is available to stream from today

One of the 2021 year-ender Kannada releases was the Krishna Ajai Rao and Rachita Ram starrer Love You Rachchu. The film, directed by Shankar S Raj, was based on a story by Shashank, who had given the script to Ajai Rao, as he was busy with other commitments and could not direct it at the time. While Ajai’s plan was to produce the film under his home banner, the responsibility was eventually given to filmmaker Guru Deshpande.

The fact that three Kannada filmmakers were involved in making Love You Rachchu was a major talking point in the run-up to its release, but also became a bone of contention between lead actor Ajai Rao and producer Guru Deshpande. In fact, closer to the release, Ajai refused to promote it along with the team, choosing instead address the media separately. The actor had claimed that since Shankar was a debutant, he had stepped in and co-ordinated the shoot of several sequences, but that the team did not acknowledge his efforts, among others.

While the film was initially believed to be a romantic drama, it was only when the trailer came out that it became clear that it was a thriller with a love story at its crux. The story revolves around a couple played by Ajai and Rachita, whose happy life is thrown into turmoil, when she has to commit a crime in self-defence. Their attempts to cover this up, though, doesn’t work out, as they soon become victims of a blackmailing racket. Can they get out of this mess unscathed?

Missed watching Love You Rachchu when it was in theatres? Not to worry, as of today, the film is available to stream on SunNXT. A television premiere on Udaya TV is also expected shortly. The film, which has music by Kadri Manikanth, also stars Achyuth Kumar, Raghu Shivamogga, among others.

Kannada stuntman Vivek killed on the sets of Love You Rachu, director and producer detained

The shooting spot accident on the sets of the upcoming kannada film love you rachu has killed one stuntman and injured the other..

A stuntman was electrocuted on the sets of the upcoming Kannada film Love You Rachu on Monday. The incident happened during shooting of the film at Jogenahalli near Bidadi, on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Stuntman Vivek was part of an action sequence that involved the use of a crane and ropes.

According to reports, Vivek’s wire rope rigging came in contact with a high-tension electric wire on the sets, killing him immediately. Another stuntman was also seriously injured in the freak accident and he is under treatment at a private hospital in Bengaluru.

Vivek was rushed to the Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital in Bengaluru where the doctors declared him dead. The 28-year-old is said to have worked as a stuntman in more than 40 films.

“Stunt performer Vivek was performing the stunt for the Kannada film ‘Love you Rachu’ and standing on a crane near an 11-KV electric wire at Joganapalya village in the district. Somehow a metal wire came in contact with the wire and he got electrocuted,” police said.

The police have detained director Shankar S Raj, producer Guru Deshpande and action choreographer Vindo for questioning in connection with the incident.

The tragic incident brings back the memories of the tragedy that unfolded during the shoot of the Kannada movie Mastigudi in 2016 . While shooting a highly-publicized action sequence for the movie, two actors drowned due to serious lapses in safety precautions. The risky shot required actors Anil and Uday to dive into Thippagondanahalli lake, 35 kms west of Bengaluru, from a chopper hovering midair. The actors, who jumped into the water without wearing life jackets, were washed away and it took days before their bodies were recovered from the reservoir.

BSEB will declare the Bihar Board 10th exam results 2024 today at 1:30 pm. Around 16.4 lakh students took the offline exams from February 15 to 23, with strict measures in place to prevent cheating. A press conference will be held at the board's headquarters to announce the toppers' names.

‘La Chimera’: Josh O’Connor Digs His Own Grave — and Comes Back a Star

Legend has it that if you were to stroll around Riparbella, a small Italian village in the rural part of Tuscany, you would come across a number of tombs. Some were hidden, some were open, and many of these underground burial sites were more than 2000 years old, filled with ancient artifacts. For centuries, they were left undisturbed, as a sign of respect for the dead. Then, in the early 1980s, grave robbers known as tombaroli would ransack these sacred spaces and sell the stolen goods on the black market, which allegedly catered to both busy museum curators and the idle rich. Should these thieves be lucky, they might net a small fortune courtesy of a rare Etruscan vase procured during a nocturnal raid. Should they be unlucky, they’d be cursed by the enraged spirits of the deceased. Roll, the dice, take your chances.

There’s no point in trying to describe what Rohrwacher is leading up to exactly, given what a mood piece this film is. But you may have already begun to suspect that La Chimera is also, among the many other genres it’s pillaging, a ghost story. Not in the gothic, I-see-dead-people way necessarily, but in the manner of how those no longer shuffling on this mortal coil continue to communicate with those left behind. You might notice a red string flailing and trailing about the frame several times during Rohrwacher’s more poetic detours. That tiny bit of yarn ends up paying off in such a profound manner that, once you get to the final scene, it’s hard not to break into a slow clap. Some wishes can be granted, at a price. And others, well …they truly are an impossible dream. The dead remain the dead. But Italian cinema? The sort of go-for-baroque moviemaking that once characterized the European nation as a lodestar of auteurism? That, as La Chimera proves, is alive and well.
