Homework Hotline is a live statewide show designed for children in grades 4 through 12. The program – which is now in its 27th season – provides the tools students need to succeed both in and out of the classroom, and supports academic achievement across a variety of learning standards.

Our main goal is to support student learning by making connections between classroom content and real world situations. Homework Hotline also   presents daily thematic segments on health, animals, book reviews, history, environment issues, and people and places in New York State. Homework Hotline sends out daily updates and helpful hints on our social media pages.

Frequently Asked Questions

 Is the Homework Hotline a free service? Yes. There is no charge associated with calling the hotline and receiving tutoring support.

What if there are no tutors available when I call in? You may be placed on a brief hold if tutors are assisting other students. When the next tutor becomes available, they will take your call.

How long can I work with my tutor? Time is not limited. However, based on the volume of calls, tutors may need to limit the number of materials they can address in a single call.

What if I forgot to ask my tutor a question during my session? Can I call in again? Yes. Students can call the hotline more than once per evening, during hours of operation.

What if I don’t have my books or materials with me? Tutors expect that students have the required materials for homework.

Can we utilize video during a call? Tutors can assist with homework that is difficult to explain by utilizing Teams. Please always call the hotline first to connect with a tutor, and once connected, ask your tutor if it will be possible to switch to a Teams call.

Will the Homework Hotline be available during breaks? No. The Homework Hotline will not be available during school breaks. Please see the  academic calendar  for school closure dates.

What if I really connect with a specific tutor?   Is there an option to request tutors in the future or at least know a specific tutor’s availability? Unfortunately, no. Tutors are randomly assigned through the system.

Who do I contact if I have a question or concern regarding the Homework Hotline? If you have any questions regarding the Homework Hotline, please contact the Curriculum Office at [email protected]

Homework Hotline

homework hotline live

We are closed for summer break. We plan to return in late August.

Send us your homework questions.

You can now chat with us! Use the button on the bottom right corner to connect to a tutor. If you need to, send us a picture of your problem .

Who Are We?

The Harvey Mudd College Homework Hotline is a free over-the-phone math and science tutoring service for students in grades 4 through 12. We’re open four nights per week, Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. PST. We’ve always been a free service, and we always will be. Our tutors are all students at Harvey Mudd College, one of the top-ranked STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) schools in the nation, and they’re all selected for their technical expertise AND their superior communication skills. They get extra training to make sure they give you the best possible service!

How Did We Get Here?

We launched in 2010 with the help of the Homework Hotline at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. We provide free, over-the-phone tutoring to students in the greater Los Angeles region, Inland Empire and beyond. Since then, we’ve helped thousands of students learn math and science, one call at a time!

How Does it Work?

A Homework Hotline tutor will assist the student caller with guiding questions and encourage the student to be an active participant in their learning. The tutor will use the student’s prior knowledge and encourage the student to use all available resources first. The tutor will also invite the student to write down procedural steps in their own words to help the student solve similar problems on their own. The goal of the tutor is to help the student caller with one homework question, and then encourage the student to try solving similar problems on their own. The student caller is invited to call the Homework Hotline again if they get stuck on another problem (similar or different to the current question). Student privacy matters to us. We don’t ask for names or phone numbers, though we do ask callers to share their school and grade level for our reporting purposes. For a more effective call, please be prepared with the following:

  • Homework assignment

We are committed to guiding student callers through their math and science homework questions, Monday through Thursday, from 6 to 9 p.m. There are certain days of the academic year when we will be closed. These include national holidays and Harvey Mudd College semester breaks and finals week.

Grand Forks student graduates high school at 15

FARGO, N.D. (Valley News Live) - James Hood graduated from Grand Forks Central with honors over the weekend at the age of 15. Hood plans to take a gap year before starting in the Fall at Johns Hopkins University.

The Grand Forks Central alumnus enjoys playing music with his band, OWL, with his brothers. He says that his approach to balancing music, school, and family is keeping priorities in mind and making it happen.

”It’s not about finding time; it’s about making it. If you have a bunch of homework tonight, I really tried to get it done as fast as possible. I always tried to do good. But when it comes to family you always got to make time for them and being able to make time for them, do music, do such enjoyable things, really make life special and you always got to make time,” said Hood.

The Fair of Nijni-Novgorod

Edna dean proctor.

  Was ever such a crowd?

Here Turks and Jews and Gypsies,

  There Persians haughty-browed;

With silken-robed Celestials,

  And Frenchmen from the Seine,

And Khivans and Bokhariotes,—

  Heirs of the Oxus plain.

Here stalk Siberian hunters;

  There tents a Kirghiz clan

By mournful-eyed Armenians

  From wave-girt Astrakhan;

And Russ and Pole and Tartar,

  And mounted Cossack proud,—

Now, by the Tower of Babel,

Nizhny Novgorod, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, Russia
