But beyond it all, the constitution declares that India is a sovereign, socialist, secular, and democratic republic. It assures its citizens’ justice, equality, liberty, and fraternity. It also gives us our rights and duties as citizens. On this Happy Republic Day 2024, I hope that no matter who we are, rich or poor, a powerful politician or a regular citizen, we continue to respect these basic principles and values given to us by our amazing constitution. So that, as we move forward and continue to build this nation, we do not leave behind the foundation on which our country is built.

I want to end this speech by saying that India is a democratic country. The citizens living in a democratic country enjoy the privilege to elect their leader to lead the country.

Although we have seen a lot of economic improvements and success as a country, we still have many hurdles in our paths, such as poverty, unemployment, and pollution. It is our duty as citizens to face these challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

Republic Day Speech in English

Below is the Republic Day speech in English for school and college students.

Honorable Principal Sir, respected brothers and sisters, and my dear friends. As we all know today is the 75th Republic Day of India. My Name is [Harsh Kumar] and on this prestigious day, I have got a chance to deliver my Republic Day speech in front of you all.

As we know the Indian constitution was adhered to on 26 Jan 1950 with a certain set of rules and regulations. Today we have gathered here to celebrate the victory of Republic Day and in the memory of great men like Rajendra Prasad, Subhash Chandra Bosh, and Mahatma Gandhi.

The Constitution of India is the longest-written constitution in the world. The time duration taken to draft the Indian constitution was 2 years, 11 months, and 11 days. It was drafted by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar to establish the structure, procedures, powers, and duties of government institutions, and set out fundamental rights, directive principles, and the duties of citizens.

Republic Day is a celebration of our unity in diversity. India has different cultures, languages, religions, and traditions. Our tricolor flag symbolizes this unity – the saffron color signifies strength and courage, the white middle band indicates peace and truth with the Dharma Chakra, and the green shows the fertility, growth, and auspiciousness of our land.

As we celebrate this day, let us also acknowledge the progress India has made over the years. Our advancements in technology, medicine, science, and space exploration have put us on the world map.

  • Facts about Republic Day

However, our journey is not without challenges. We are a nation at a crossroads, grappling with issues of poverty, inequality, environmental degradation, and social injustice. These challenges call for collective action, innovation, and a commitment to the principles of our Constitution.

On this day, let us also remember and pay tribute to our brave soldiers who guard our borders and ensure our safety, and to the countless freedom fighters whose sacrifices led to the birth of this Republic. Their courage and love for the motherland continue to inspire us.

Currently, we need to fulfill the dream of Mahatma Gandhi to make India a developed country and we youth can decide what India will be next 5 years.

As we know on Republic Day, The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has been invited to attend India’s Republic Day celebrations. We have started achieving new heights again. From Chandrayaan 2 to the IT sector, India made significant growth.

At last, I want to thank all of our soldiers and the brave people who are helping India to rapidly achieve new heights in development.

That’s all. Thank you!

Republic Day Speech: Every year, 26th January is celebrated as Republic Day in India. It is a historic day when the constitution of India officially came into force, and national celebrations take place. India became an independent republic and a sovereign democratic on 26th January 1950. India is one of the biggest democracies in the world. Dr. B R Ambedkar chaired and drafted the Constitution Drafting Committee, and these doctrines are accepted as the supreme law of India.

Below we have provided Republic Day Speech 2024 in English, written in easy and simple words for classes 7, 8, 9, and 10.

This 26 January speech is helpful for students who are participating in a speech writing competition.

Republic Day Speech in English

Good morning all. On the eve of our 74th Republic Day , I would like to express my warm greetings to all of you. In 1950, we embarked on a journey as a republic nation on 26th January, affirming to practice and follow the principles laid down by our constitution. It emphasized democracy, secularity, equality and provided a framework for three organs-Legislative, judiciary, and executive.

We are now in the third decade of the twenty-first century, where the new generation witnesses the dawn of advanced discoveries and innovation. Every person is willingly participating in the national discourse and looking forward to the growth of the nation. The fundamentals laid down by the constitution strengthens our country, turning it into a robust democracy. By adhering to the rules and law, we are adding meaning to our celebration of independence.

On Republic day, President distributes civilian awards every year. These awards are given based on categories. Republic Day parade is organized by the military of defence in New Delhi. This show is the main attraction of the event and lasts for three days. It showcases India’s cultural and social heritage. Nine to Twelve different regiments of army, navy, and air force march past in all their finery and decorations.

The President unfurls the flag and addresses the nation with a motivational speech. Paramilitary forces and police forces also participate in the event. Furthermore, a tribute is paid to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for independence. In schools and colleges, students dress up in different traditional costumes representing each state and perform a dance, song, or a speech from the respective region.

Youth is the nation’s bright future; therefore, it is mandatory to act responsibly and preserve national heritage. India is our motherland, and hence it is necessary to work in its interest to make it shine. Everyone should possess the virtue of patriotism. By abiding by the rights and duties written in the constitution, one ensures harmony and peace in society. The spirit of brotherhood, fraternity, and support for each other should be paramount.

The famous saying that a pen is mightier than a sword is essential to fulfilling our core with non-violence and equal justice. The national holidays should not be taken for granted, but its significance needs to be promoted across states to create awareness and disseminate patriotism.

I want to conclude my speech by thanking everyone who honoured this program with their attendance. Lastly, I would like to quote Mahatma Gandhi , who rightly stated that be the change you wish to see. It implies that we must involve and bring change for a vibrant future and not just wait for the government to initiate.

Happy Republic Day!

From kids to adults, every person is seen wearing tricolour outfits. We must abide by our constitution and maintain peace. We should never take our independence for granted and collectively work towards the betterment of our country. The sacrifices and struggles of our freedom fighters should not be confined to these national holidays but throughout our life. As rightly quoted by our former President, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, “This is a country of colours and faith in spirituals.”

Let this Republic Day remind us of our leaders’ work and life to a safe and happy life. Finally, I would like to say that I am proud of my country and feels honoured to be a part of this gentry. Also, I would like to thank my teacher for placing trust in me and giving me a chance to speak on this occasion.

Happy Republic Day to all.

Speech on Republic Day in English

Short Speech on Republic Day

Speech on republic day.

Good morning to all. My name is…… I read in class….. As we all know that we have gathered here on the very special occasion of our nation called as Republic Day of India. I would like to narrate a Republic Day speech in front of you. First of all I would like to say a lot of thank to my class teacher as just because of her I have got such a wonderful opportunity in my school to come on this stage and speak something about my beloved country on its great occasion of Republic day.

India is a self-governing country since 15 th of August 1947. India got independence from the British rule on 15 th of August in 1947 which we celebrate as Independence Day, However, on 26 th of January since 1950 we celebrate as Republic Day. The Constitution of India came into force on 26 th of January in 1950, so we celebrate this day as the Republic Day every year. This year in 2016, we are celebrating 75 th republic day of India.

Republic means the supreme power of the people living in the country and only public has rights to elect their representatives as political leader to lead the country in right direction. So, India is a Republic country where public elects its leaders as a president, prime minister , etc. Our Great Indian freedom fighters have struggled a lot to the “Purna Swaraj” in India. They did so that their future generations may live without struggle and led country ahead.

The name of our great Indian leaders and freedom fighters are Mahatma Gandhi , Bhagat Singh , Chandra Shekher Ajad, Lala Lajpath Rai , Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel, Lal bahadur Shastri , etc. They fought continuously against the British rule to make India a free country. We can never forget their sacrifices towards our country. We should remember them on such great occasions and salute them. It has become possible just because of them that we can think from our own mind and live freely in our nation without anyone’s force.

Our first Indian President was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who said that, “We find the whole of this vast land brought together under the jurisdiction of one constitution and one union which takes over responsibility for the welfare of more than 320 million men and women inhabit it”.

How shame to say that still we are fighting with crime, corruption and violence (in the form of terrorist, rape, theft, riots, strikes, etc) in our country. Again, there is a need to get together to save our country from such slavery as it is pulling our nation back from going to its main stream of development and progress. We should be aware of our social issues like Poverty , unemployment, illiteracy, global warming , inequality, etc in order to solve them to go ahead.

Dr. Abdul Kalam has said that “If a country is to be corruption free and become a nation of beautiful minds, I strongly feel there are three key societal members who can make a difference. They are the Father, the Mother and the Teacher”. As a citizen of the country we should think seriously about it and do all possible efforts to lead our nation.

Thanks, Jai Hind

India is a democratic country where public is authorized to elect its leaders to lead the country. Dr. Rajendra Prasad was our first President of India. Speech on 2024 Republic Day 4

I would like to say good morning to our respected Principal, my teachers, my seniors and colleagues. Let me let you know something about this special occasion. Today we are celebrating 75th republic day of our nation. It was started celebrating since 1950, two and half years later to the Independence of India in 1947. We celebrate it every year on 26th of January as our constitution came into effect on the same day. After getting independence from the British rule in 1947, India was not a self-ruled country means a sovereign state. India became a self-governing country when its constitution came into effect in 1950.

India is a republic country which has no any king or queen to rule it however public of this country is the ruler. Every one of us living in this country has equal rights, no one can be a president, chief minister or prime minister without voting of us. We have the right to choose our best Prime Minister or other leaders to lead this country in the right direction. Our leaders should be capable enough to think in the favor of our country. He should think equally about every states, villages and cities of the country so that India can be a well developed country without any discrimination of race, religion, poor, rich, high class, lower class, middle class, illiteracy, etc.

Our leader should have dominating property in the favor of country so that each and every official may follow all the rules and regulations in correct way. Every official should follow the Indian rules and regulations in order to make this country a corruption free country. Only a corruption free India would really and truly mean a country with “Unity in Diversity”.

Our leaders should not understand them a special person, as they are one from us and have been selected according to their capability to lead the country. They have been selected by us to serve their truthful services to the India for a limited time period. So, there should not be any confusion between their own ego and authority and position.

As being an Indian citizen, we too are fully responsible about our country. We should make ourselves up-to-date, read news and be completely aware of what are going on in our country, what are going on wrong or right, what are our leaders doing and firstly what we are doing for our country. Earlier, India was a slave country under British rule which was made independent after several years of struggle by the sacrifices of thousands of lives of our freedom fighters. So, we should not let go easily their all priceless sacrifices and make this country a slave country again under corruption, illiteracy, inequality and other social discrimination. Today is the best day when we should take an oath to preserve our country’s real meaning, position, status and most importantly culture of humanity.

Long Speech on Republic Day of India – 7

Greetings to all of you on 75 th Republic Day of India! This year we are celebrating our 75 th Republic Day on 26 th January and also our transition from a colonial governed state to an independent Republic.

As we all know that India gained independence on 15 th August 1947, but we remained as dominion status under the British, until 26 th January 1950, when the Constitution of India was adopted by the Constituent Assembly; marking India’s emergence as a fully Independent, Democratic and Republic Nation.

The freedom and rights that we enjoy today as the citizens of India, not to mention this Democratic setup, we owe it all to our Constitution and to the people who created it. Constitution of India is her supreme governing document; it is a rule book of India that includes everything from rights of an ordinary citizen to the rights of its President. It assures the citizens of fundamental rights and justice, liberty and fraternity.

Much had been sacrificed by our freedom fighters to gain independence. Many even lost their lives for it. They could have easily rested their guards and enjoyed the fruits of independence; instead they took the laborious and painful task of formulating a Constitution for India. Because they had a vision! They had a vision of India where no discrimination is made among its people on the basis of caste, religion, ethnicity etc; where equal opportunity is provided to all irrespective of caste, region or gender; where freedom of religion, expression, education are provided to the citizens.

At the apex of the idea was a government of the people, for the people and by the people; resting the ultimate power in the hands of people of India. With this vision at heart the noble souls framed the Constitution of India; instead of resting in the joys of independence.

The great men and women who framed our Constitution had a great foresight and well understood the significance of rule of law for peaceful and prosperous existence.

It is very important for us to understand the meaning and values of being a Republic. Being a Republic means having an elected form of government, elected by the people through a Democratic setup. A government where chosen representatives could exercise their powers according to the rule of law as enshrined in the Constitution. People have the power to overthrow the government on the charges of non performance or corruption.

In the Republic of India, people are its true stakeholders and the pillars. We all are the pillars of Republic of India in our own capacities. Soldier who defends the Republic of India is a pillar; mothers nurture the pillars of Republic; fathers who look for the needs of the Republic; doctors, engineers, lawyers who tend to our Republic in their own ways; teachers who instill good values into our Republic; officers who maintain law and order or dispense their public duties for the Republic; ministers and elected representatives who formulate the policies for the Republic; even the sweeper who keeps our republic clean is a pillar of the Republic of India.

I may have missed mentioning many, but the bottom line is that every citizen of India is a pillar on which the legacy of Republic of India stands.

We all must together take the legacy of India forward, cherishing our Republican and Democratic values, moving on the path of progress and prosperity. Moving a huge nation on the path to progress and prosperity is indeed a big project. It will require an effort from each one of us; which is only possible when we stay united and admire the principles of Republican and Democratic setup.

A Nation will be able to prosper and grow only when its people are happy and content. To be happy we need to have rights, powers, equal opportunities, justice, liberty and fraternity. These Rights are guaranteed by the Constitution of India, whose inception we celebrate as Republic Day.

It is therefore Ladies and Gentlemen, not only a gazetted holiday but also a day to admire the principles of Republic and thank the men and women who framed our Constitution. Take a day off from your daily routine to teach your children the significance of Constitution and the principles of Democracy and Republic.

Celebrate the Republic Day with Nationalism at heart and in your conduct too. Acknowledge the fact that we all are equal irrespective of our caste, creed, religion, gender, ethnicity, language spoken or financial status. Instill the same values into our children. Remember, they too are the pillars of the Republic of India and the ones to whom we will be later handing the Nation’s legacy.

With this Ladies and Gentlemen I conclude my speech on Republic Day, wishing you all once again a very Happy Republic Day and hoping that we will achieve the goals of development and prosperity soon; together! God Bless You!

Good Morning, Ladies and Gentlemen; first of all, I wish you a very Happy Republic Day. It is an important day for all the Indians. Today, when a few fellow Indians talk about the fear of losing basic rights that the constitution has given us, this day becomes more important. Although we have celebrated Republic Day as a national festival since our childhood, we understand the real importance of this day when we grow up.

Gantantra Diwas is celebrated on 26 th January every year. On this day in 1950, the Constitution of India came into effect. Our constitution gives us various rights and responsibilities, too. We live in a democratic country where people enjoy their fundamental rights. In society, we have different castes, religions, and many other things that separate us, but on a broader picture, we all are Indians. India is a land that is a great example of “Unity in Diversity”. The beauty of our country is we have different languages, and we also have conflicts and differences, but on national festivals, we all stand as a united force.

Republic Day Speech in Hindi

Since childhood, 26 th January has been a memorable day for all of us. Many of us may recall this day as a festival and celebrate it in schools by participating in cultural programs and other activities. For a few of us, this is the day we get up to watch the Republic Day parade. The military parade starts from Vijay Chowk and culminates at the Red Fort in the national capital i.e. Delhi. The weapons and the army’s equipment in the parade reflect the power of our armed forces.

On this day, awards and medals of bravery are also given to the armed forces and to civilians too. The main attraction for the bravery awards is the young kids who are awarded by the prime minister for showing ultimate bravery.  When the helicopters of the armed forces fly past the parade area, and shower rose petals on the audience, everyone feels special. The program ends with the national anthem. Whether you are at home or watching the parade personally, you get up to give respect to the national anthem. It’s a day that makes us think beyond caste, creed, religion, state, language, and colour, and we all feel the same emotion of loving our country.

I was so enthralled when my class teacher told me a few days back that you have been selected to deliver a speech on the 26 th of January. I am excited but a bit nervous also because I never gave a speech earlier in my school life.

As you all know, today we have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious day of Republic Day, which we also know as “Gantantra Divas”, and as we all know, on this day in 1950, our full constitution came into effect. However, it was adopted on the 26th of November 1949 under the chairmanship of our beloved Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and we all know him as the father of the Indian Constitution; he was one of the greatest leaders of modern India at that time.

It’s a Gazetted holiday, but schools remain open to organize different functions in their school just as we are doing. Students perform several cultural activities and sing patriotic songs to remember our freedom fighters and celebrate the big day.

Our principal hoists the national flag; similarly, the president of India hoists the flag at Rajpath, and every year, they invite special chief guests from different countries.

On the eve of Republic Day, our president gave a speech in the name of the Nation.

The president of India gave some important awards like Ashoka Chakra and Kirti Chakra to the soldiers of India and bravery awards to the citizens of India.

Every school, college, and government office celebrates this day with zeal and enthusiasm.

But the biggest celebration is observed at the Rajpath in New Delhi. Where thousands of people gathered to watch the RDC parade. Chief guests from different world countries are invited to witness the celebration every year. The parade’s main attraction is the tableau of the selected states through which they showcase the culture and tradition of their states. The preparation for this parade started at least six months before Republic Day. Artists and students from different parts of the country participate in this celebration to make it memorable and grand.

But when our soldiers came with their battalion and all of their arms and ammunition in the parade, the audience got goosebumps and fill pride at the same time.

And at last, when our Air Force fighter pilots came with their jets and created our national flag tricolour in the sky, it became such a proud moment for every Indian.

It’s the day you can hear patriotic songs in every nook and corner of our street, and everyone celebrates this day with brotherhood and distributing sweets.

When our constitution came into effect, we had some common issues and still today, we are also facing some common issues like cleanliness, education, unemployment, and many others to resolve their government also launched some schemes like Swatch Bharat Abhiyan , Beti padhao Beti Bachao , skill India, make in India and many more but we cannot depend fully on the shoulders of our government we need to do something for our country and we all must take a step to make a better and stronger Nation.

We must keep the ideas that were mentioned in the constitution of India, which are justice for everyone, equality, liberty, fraternity, and sovereignty. We should not forget the ideas of our Gandhi Bapu, and we need to implement them in our lives to make our nation strong.

So let’s take a pledge that we all will maintain peace and harmony and must remember the sacrifices of our freedom fighters so that we can value the freedom which we got just because of their sacrifices. Before I conclude my speech, I would like to say, “Patriotism is just like charity; it must begin at home.”

26th January Speech For Students in English (Sample)

Good Morning, respected principal, teachers, and my dear friends. My name is (Your name), I am studying in class (Your class name), and I wish to give a speech on the Republic Day celebration.

On this occasion of Republic Day, I would like to thank my class teacher for allowing me to speak about Republic Day.  Today, we are all gathered here to celebrate the 76th Republic Day of our nation.

On 26 th January 1950, our country got its constitution. We got our independence on 15 th August 1947 , but before 26th January 1950, we followed the British laws and rules. Since 26th January 1950, we have had our own rules and laws that are implemented for all Indians.

Our constitution has come into existence after many debates and amendments. On 26 November 1949, the drafting committee of the constitution was formed and Dr B. R. Ambedkar was appointed chairperson of the committee. After a debate in both houses, the constitution came into existence, and we became a republic country. A republic means that the country’s citizens hold supreme power to elect representatives. The Constitution gives all of us the same rights despite differences in religion, colour, or language.

A grand celebration of Republic day is held in the Capital of India, Delhi. On this day, ceremonial parades take place at the Rajpath in the presence of the President. The celebration starts at the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President of India unfurled the national flag and addressed the nation with a Republic Day speech. The prestigious awards of the country are also given to martyrs and heroes of the army and civilians on this day.

Republic Day Speech For Teacher (Sample)

First of all, I would like to say thanks to the respected guest who came here to encourage us and the students despite having a busy schedule. I want to say thanks to the principal, my colleagues, and all the students who have participated in today’s program.  As we all know, today our country is celebrating ‘Republic Day’. On this day back in 1950, our constitution came into force. The constitution is like a religious book for a country, and we need to give it the same respect as we give to our religious book.

As our religious books tell us what we should do and what actions we should avoid, in the same way, the constitution of India suggests to us what we should do as citizens of the country and what actions we need to avoid. We have some rules and regulations in schools, and in the same way, we have to follow some regulations to be in this country.

Our constitution has given us a few responsibilities and a few rights, too. As both rights and responsibilities come together, we are expected to fulfil the responsibility as a citizen first before claiming our rights. You have the right to get an education, but you also carry the responsibility to be an obedient student.

Many top leaders play a prominent role in the preparation of the constitution of India. Dr B. R. Ambedkar was the chairman of the constitution drafting committee. At that time, when India had many social issues like casteism and others, the constitution gave the right to equality. When the country was facing riots and witnessed the partition based on religion our constitution-makers chose to make India a republic and democratic country. We all are proud of the equality we get here, and it’s given to us by our constitution. So, happy Republic Day! Celebrate this day as a festival because, on this day, India became a republic country.

Republic Day Speech in English (sample)

I am feeling so lucky that I am standing in front of you because so many contenders wanted to give a speech on the auspicious day of the 26th of January. I am not a good orator, so please pardon me if I make any mistakes…

I can see some faces in the crowd that are not looking so happy because they are hoping that I am going to give them a lecture on the 26th of January, but you don’t need to worry because I am not going to give you any lecture on Republic Day. After all, it’s a day of celebration; it’s a day of the birth of our constitution.

But its Republic Day so I will put some interesting facts in front of you

Republic day! when you heard this word, what was the first thing that came to your mind

Tell me honestly!

Yeah, some of them are whispering holiday-holiday…

You know I still remember that day…

When I was just 10 years old and I didn’t know anything about Republic Day…

Why do we celebrate it? And why does it come on the 26th of January every year…

Like others earlier, it was also a holiday for me too…

But one day on the 26th of January, when I was playing outside, my father called me and asked me…

Why didn’t you go to school today?

I said it was a holiday… He asked me why.

I said it’s a Republic Day…

He asked me do you know what that was (Republic Day)?

I nodded my head and said no…

Then my father told me about the day when our freedom fighters fought for our independence, and so many of them sacrificed their lives, how we got independence, how our constitution was formed and how our republic day came into effect on the 26th of January 1950.

The very next year, my father took me to Delhi for the RDC (Republic Day celebration), and I got to know more about it there… because visuals teach us more

And look, today we are celebrating the 75th Republic Day, and to celebrate this important day, we have come a long way.

Does anyone know when the Indian constituent assembly adopted our constitution?

Must be you forget it….

Ok, let me remind you once again… it was adopted on the 26 th of November 1949 and came into effect on the 26th Jan 1950.

OK, do you know under whose chairmanship our full constitution was drafted?

Yes, it’s Dr B.R. Ambedkar, and you know some of their friends called him Babasaheb.

Every year, we celebrated the grand Republic day in New Delhi at Rajpath, and a special chief guest was also invited for the day.

The event of Republic Day started with the arrival of the President of India, whom we also called the first citizen of India. Then our national anthem played, and after that, 21 gun salutes were also given in honour, but…

Do you know they didn’t fire the salutes with 21 canons? instead of that, they fired three times with 7 canons of the Indian Army, which was known as “25 Ponders”, and interestingly fired a match with the national anthem

Now, may I ask you something…?

Does anyone know what Rajpath’s previous name was?

Hmm, it seems like I had delivered a googly this time…

Rajpath previous name is “King’s Way”

And this year also, India has invited Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro

Ok let me check your general knowledge now. Does anyone know who is our first-ever chief guest in RDC

Deep silences, hmm…

Ok, do not stare at me. It’s the President of Indonesia, Dr Sukarno

From our childhood, I have learned that there are six fundamental rights in our constitution

  • Right to equality
  • Right to freedom
  • Right against exploitation
  • Right to freedom of religion
  • Cultural and educational rights
  • And a right to constitutional remedies

But a few years back they added one more to the list do you know what was it?

  • It was right to education

We are adding the right to education but we are not able to teach our kids about our independence… our constitution

Most of them don’t know why we celebrate these days, and even…

Some of them can’t differentiate between Republic Day and Independence Day

Our ancestor fought for independence, but today’s generation don’t know anything about them

Do you know Bhagat Singh left his home at the age of just 13 and died for the freedom of our country when he was just 23…?

You should ask a question to yourself have you done anything in your life for your country

We all parents need to take our children at a young age to such places where they can learn about our country, especially on Republic Day and Independence Day.

So that they can tell the next generation about our country and the importance of Republic Day and Independence Day

Must tell them it’s not a holiday because someone has to pay off their life for this day

Every school and college must celebrate this day full of joy just as they celebrate their convocation… fresher party… and farewell party

So that every child must wait for this day desperately every year

Let us remain this day republic day, not a holiday

Now I have to sign off but before doing that I recall the famous quote by “Mark Twain” he said…

“Indian is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend, and the great grand-mother of tradition. Our most valuable and most astrictive materials in the history of man are treasured up in India only”!

“We are the Indian firstly and lastly”

– By B. R Ambedkar

Jai Hind…. Vande Mataram…

Republic Day Speech in English- History of Indian Republic Day:

To begin with, I convey my best wishes to our respected Principal, our respected teachers, and my fellow classmates.

We have gathered here to celebrate the auspicious occasion of our nation’s 71st Republic Day.

I want to wish all of you a very Happy Republic Day. I had the privilege of sharing a glimpse history of Republic Day of our wonderful nation.

After attaining independence from British rule on 15 August 1947, India did not have a permanent constitution, however all legal guidelines have been primarily based on the Revised Colonial Government Act 1935.

But on 28 August 1947, BR Ambedkar, along with Drafting Committee was made a permanent constitution.

After several amendments to the Constitution, the final draft was signed on 24 January 1950 by 308 members of the Legislative Assembly.

Two days later, the new Constitution of India came into force on 26 January 1950 and India became a republic nation.

A democratic republic nation, ruled not by king or queen but ruled by a government elected by the general public of the country.

The Constitution also encouraged equal social and economic rights to all citizens.

So let us gather on this cheerful and momentary day and promise to always maintain the sovereignty that our country has achieved with priceless sacrifices.

With these polite words, I bow my head to the tricolor and to each one of you I say, Jai Hind, Jai Bharat.

Important of Republic- 26 January Speech:

Good morning to our esteemed Principal Sir / Madam, Respected teachers, and all my classmates.

First of all, I wish to thank my class-teacher who gave me the opportunity to share some of my thoughts on India’s 71st Republic Day.

Republic Day is likely one of the most patriotic days for all Indian citizens as India was declared a secular, sovereign and democratic nation on this present day.

But what does republic really mean?

This means that all decisions are made by representatives who were elected by the citizens of the nation rather than elected by a hereditary monarchy.

The decisions are in accordance with the rules of the Constitution, the day the country became a republic.

But why is it important that a country should be a republic?

It matters because it affects political culture, helping to balance power between government, parliament and the common people.

Ordinary citizens will have the ability to take part in the process of choosing the leaders of state and nation.

As well as, all residents enjoy fundamental rights such as the suitable to equality, right to freedom, right to freedom of faith, right to cultural and education, right to privacy, right to constitutional remedies and right against exploitation.

All these rights not only provide safety to frequent individuals but also stop human rights and make the lives of individuals peaceful and harmonious.

Thank you. Jai Hind. Jai Bharat.

Best long Teachers' Day speech sample for School and college students

Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed teachers, and dear students,

Good morning to all of you. It’s a true privilege to stand before you today as we celebrate the special occasion of Teachers’ Day, a day dedicated to appreciating the immense role that teachers play in shaping our lives and society.

The tradition of celebrating Teachers’ Day holds a deep meaning, one that dates back to the life of an extraordinary man, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. Born on September 5th, 1888, Dr. Radhakrishnan was not only the first Vice President and the second President of India but also a great scholar and philosopher. His love for teaching and education was unparalleled, and his contributions to the field of education have left a lasting impact on our nation.

Dr. Radhakrishnan was someone who believed strongly in the power of education to transform lives. He was honored with the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award, for his significant contributions to education and for shaping the intellectual landscape of our country. However, what truly set him apart was his deep humility and his dedication to teaching.

It was during his presidency that a group of his students and friends approached him with a request to celebrate his birthday on September 5th. In response, Dr. Radhakrishnan, with his characteristic humility, suggested that instead of celebrating his birthday, the day should be observed as Teachers’ Day across the nation. This gesture reflected his deep respect for the teaching profession and his belief that teachers are the true builders of the nation.

Since then, every year on September 5th, we celebrate Teachers’ Day to honor and appreciate the hard work and dedication of our teachers, who play a crucial role in shaping the minds and futures of the younger generation. Teachers are the guiding light in our lives, helping us find the path to knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. They inspire us to dream big, to work hard, and to become better individuals.

As we celebrate Teachers’ Day today, let’s take a moment to reflect on the enormous responsibility that teachers carry. Teaching is not just about passing on knowledge; it’s about nurturing young minds, encouraging them to think critically, and developing a lifelong love for learning. Teachers shape the future of our nation by instilling values and principles in their students that will guide them throughout their lives.

In today’s fast-paced and ever-changing world, the role of teachers has become even more vital. They are not just educators but also mentors, counselors, and role models. Teachers help students navigate the challenges of life both inside and outside the classroom, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in an increasingly complex world. The recent pandemic has shown us just how adaptable and resilient our teachers are, as they quickly embraced new methods of teaching to ensure that learning continued without interruption.

On this special day, let’s express our heartfelt gratitude to all the teachers who have dedicated their lives to the noble profession of teaching. Let’s acknowledge their hard work, patience, and dedication, and let’s commit to supporting them in every way possible. To all the teachers here today, we say thank you—thank you for your unwavering commitment to your students, for your passion for teaching, and for the positive impact you have on our lives.

In the end, I’d like to share a quote by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan: "The true teachers are those who help us think for ourselves." Let’s remember these words and honor the spirit of Teachers’ Day by valuing and respecting our teachers not just today, but every day.

Thank you, and Happy Teachers’ Day to all!

Best Teachers' Day speech for kids

Good morning everyone,

Today is a very special day for all of us because we are here to celebrate Teachers' Day, a day dedicated to our beloved teachers who guide us, support us, and help us grow. This day is celebrated every year on the 5th of September in India, and do you know why? Let me tell you a beautiful story behind it.

The celebration of Teachers' Day was started by the first Vice President of India, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on the 5th of September, 1888. Dr. Radhakrishnan was not only the first Vice President but also the second President of India. But more than that, he was a great scholar, philosopher, and most importantly, a passionate teacher. He loved teaching and believed that teachers play a very important role in shaping the future of students.

Dr. Radhakrishnan was so dedicated to the field of education that he was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, for his contributions. He had a deep respect for teachers and believed that they are the pillars of our society. Now, here's an interesting thing about him: once, when some of his students and friends wanted to celebrate his birthday, he humbly refused and said that instead of celebrating his birthday, he would feel more honored if 5th September was celebrated as Teachers' Day.

This shows how much he respected teachers and how he believed that teaching is the noblest profession of all. Since then, every year, we celebrate Teachers' Day on the 5th of September to remember his contributions and to honor all the teachers who work so hard to make us better individuals.

Our teachers are like our second parents. They not only teach us subjects like Math, Science, and English but also teach us values like kindness, honesty, and hard work. They are the ones who encourage us to dream big and help us achieve those dreams. Imagine a world without teachers – there would be no schools, no knowledge, and no progress. That's why we must always respect and appreciate our teachers.

Today, let's take a moment to thank all our teachers for their love, patience, and dedication. Let's show them how much we appreciate everything they do for us. On this Teachers' Day, I want to say a big thank you to all the teachers for making a difference in our lives. You are our true heroes, and we are so lucky to have you.

Happy Teachers' Day!

Respected Principal, esteemed teachers, and dear friends,

Today is a special day, a day we all come together to celebrate and respect our beloved teachers. On behalf of all the students, I am truly honoured to welcome you to this wonderful occasion—Teachers' Day!

Teachers' Day is a time to express our gratitude and appreciation for the incredible work that our teachers do. They are not just educators but also mentors, guides, and role models. They inspire us, motivate us, and help us become better individuals.

This day is celebrated in honour of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a great teacher, philosopher, and leader, who believed that teachers are the true builders of society. He dedicated his life to education and to nurturing young minds. We celebrate Teachers' Day on his birthday, September 5th, to remember his contributions and to recognize the hard work of teachers across the nation.

Today, as we celebrate, let's take a moment to thank all our teachers for their patience, their dedication, and their unwavering commitment to our growth and success. They are the reason we dream big and strive to achieve our goals.

So, let's make this day memorable by showing our teachers how much they mean to us. I welcome you all to join in the celebrations, enjoy the program we have prepared, and most importantly, express our heartfelt thanks to the teachers who make a difference in our lives every single day.

Thank you, and Happy Teachers' Day to all!

Today is a special day where we gather to express our heartfelt gratitude to our teachers, who guide us, inspire us, and shape our future. That’s right! Teachers are like candles—they light our path and help us grow in knowledge and wisdom. We have a lot of exciting performances and activities planned today, all dedicated to our beloved teachers. So, let’s begin this celebration with a positive start. To start our day, let’s seek blessings from the Almighty. I request everyone to join their hands and close their eyes for a prayer. [Lead the prayer or invite someone to recite it.] Thank you for the beautiful prayer. Now, let’s welcome our principal [Principal’s Name] to say a few words on this special occasion. [Principal gives the welcome speech.] Thank you, [Principal’s Name], for those inspiring words. Your guidance is always a beacon of light for all of us. And now, let’s get ready for some fun! We have prepared some wonderful performances to show how much we appreciate our teachers. First up, we have a group of students who have prepared a dance performance. Please welcome them with a big round of applause! [Introducing the dance performance.] That was an amazing performance! I’m sure our teachers enjoyed it. Next, we have a melodious song dedicated to our teachers, sung by [Student’s Name]. Let’s listen and feel the love and respect we have for our teachers. [Introduce the song.] Wow! That was such a touching song. Music truly has the power to express our deepest feelings. Now, we have some students who want to share their thoughts about their favourite teachers. Let’s welcome [Student’s Name] to share their experience. [Introduce the student for the speech.] Thank you, [Student’s Name], for those lovely words. I’m sure your teacher must be so proud of you. Let’s hear from another student, [Student’s Name], who also wants to share their story. [Introduce the next student.] To add more fun to our celebration, we’ve planned a few games for our teachers. We invite [Teacher’s Name] and [Teacher’s Name] to join us on stage for a quick game of [Game Name]. Let’s see how well our teachers can do! [Describe the game and lead the activity.] That was so much fun! It’s great to see our teachers enjoying themselves and showing us their playful side. Now, it’s time to honour our teachers. We have a small token of appreciation for all your hard work and dedication. We would like to invite [Teacher’s Name] on stage to receive a special gift from our students. [Invite teachers one by one and present them with gifts.] As we come to the end of our celebration, we would like to thank everyone who made this event possible. Good morning, everyone! A very happy Teachers’ Day to all our amazing teachers! Welcome to XYZ School’s special celebration. Today is the day we celebrate the superheroes of our school—our teachers! Yes, you heard that right—superheroes! They may not wear capes, but they definitely have superpowers. Who else can explain algebra and keep a straight face while we all look confused? That’s true! And who else can survive a whole day of teaching us with a smile on their face? They deserve more than just one day of appreciation! But before we get carried away with our jokes, let’s start this celebration with a prayer. It’s always good to have a little divine help when you’re trying to make your teachers laugh. [Lead the prayer or invite someone to recite it.] Now that we’re all feeling blessed and ready, let’s welcome our principal, [Principal’s Name], to say a few words. Just a heads-up, Principal Sir/Ma'am, we’re all ears, but if you start talking about homework, we might just pretend we didn’t hear you! [Principal gives the welcome speech.] Thank you, [Principal’s Name]! We promise to do our homework… at least some of the time. Alright, let’s get the fun started! First up, we have a group of students who have prepared a dance performance that’s guaranteed to make you smile. We’ve been practicing so hard that even the floor is tired of our dance moves. Please give them a big round of applause! [Introduce the dance performance.] That was fantastic! If dancing was a subject, I think we all just got an A+… except maybe [Student’s Name], who still needs to work on their rhythm. Just kidding, you were great! Next, we have a comedy skit that shows what happens when students think they know more than their teachers. Spoiler alert: It doesn’t end well for the students! Get ready to laugh out loud. [Introduce the skit.] That skit was hilarious! It’s a good reminder that our teachers always know best, especially when it comes to catching us with last-minute excuses. Now, let’s hear from some of our fellow students who want to share their funniest experiences with their teachers. First up, we have [Student’s Name]. [Introduce the student for the speech.] Thank you, [Student’s Name], for that funny story. I think we can all relate to forgetting our homework… and then trying to come up with a creative excuse! Let’s hear from another student, [Student’s Name], who has a funny memory to share. [Introduce the next student.] To keep the fun going, we’ve planned a game that’s sure to bring out the competitive side of our teachers. We invite [Teacher’s Name] and [Teacher’s Name] to join us on stage for a quick game of “Guess the Student’s Excuse!” Let’s see if our teachers can guess the excuses we come up with for not doing our homework. [Describe the game and lead the activity.] That was so much fun! I think we just found out that our teachers have heard every excuse in the book! Now, it’s time to honour our teachers. We may joke around a lot, but we truly appreciate everything you do for us. We have a small token of appreciation for each of you. Please come on stage to receive your gifts. [Invite teachers one by one and present them with gifts.] As we come to the end of our celebration, we want to thank everyone who made this day possible. A big thank you to our teachers for putting up with our jokes and for being the best role models we could ask for. Yes, thank you to all the students, teachers, and organisers who helped make today so much fun. And remember, teachers, if you ever need a good laugh, just think about some of the excuses we’ve given you! Have a wonderful Teachers’ Day, everyone! And remember, the homework excuse generator is officially retired—until tomorrow!

On this day, let’s take a moment to think about the valuable lessons we’ve learned from our teachers and how they’ve helped shape the people we are today. A Proclamation on Labor Day,   2024

Every year on Labor Day, we celebrate the dignity of America’s workers and the labor unions they have built.  I often say that Wall Street did not build America — the middle class built America, and unions built the middle class.  Labor unions have done so much for our Nation — giving workers a voice at the workplace, raising standards on the job, and fighting for better benefits and wages for us all.  Today, we honor the pioneers who fought for the rights of working people, pay tribute to the dedication of our American workforce, and honor the enduring movement that powers our economy and strengthens our Nation.      My father taught me from a young age that a job is about far more than just a paycheck — it is about your dignity.  When I came into office, too many people had lost both their paychecks and their sense of dignity.  Our economy was failing working-class and union families.  Decades of trickle-down economics sent jobs overseas, shut down factories, and hollowed out our communities.  People had lost their sense of pride, their security, and their pathway to the middle class.       That is why I promised to be the most pro-labor, pro-union President in history and ensure unions have the support they need to fight for our workers.  Last year, the Department of the Treasury released a comprehensive report detailing how unions are not just good for union workers but non-union workers as well, showing that union growth helps to build a strong middle class in America.  I am proud to be the first sitting President to walk the picket line to support workers who were striking for better conditions.  I am also proud that, to date, we have created nearly 16 million new jobs, including almost 800,000 manufacturing jobs and nearly 900,000 construction jobs.  In fact, investment in construction of new factories has nearly tripled since I took office.  My Administration announced more than 60,000 projects to rebuild America’s roads, bridges, airports, ports, and more through our Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.  Wages are up, inflation is down, and we have had the fastest recovery of any advanced economy in the world since the pandemic started.       Furthermore, we are positioning American workers to lead the world in innovation.  I signed the Inflation Reduction Act, the largest investment in clean energy and climate action in history, creating nearly 335,000 clean energy jobs according to outside estimates.  I also signed the CHIPS and Science Act to bring semiconductor manufacturing back home and ensure that America’s clean energy jobs go to American workers.  To date, we have attracted nearly $900 billion in private-sector commitments to invest in manufacturing and clean energy.  I am proud that this manufacturing boom we ignited is being done with American products and led by American workers — the most highly skilled workers in the world — because of “Made in America” provisions that I championed and my Administration enforced.       Today, more Americans are joining the workforce, and we have the highest share of working-age Americans in the workforce in over 20 years.  And over the past 2 years, more workers have been petitioning for union representation.  To ensure those workers have a voice on the job, I have required the use of project labor agreements for nearly all large-scale Federal construction projects.  I have also strengthened Davis-Bacon requirements to guarantee that prevailing wages pay workers what they deserve and enacted the Butch Lewis Act — the most significant law for union retirement security in 50 years — that has protected the pensions of 1 million union workers.  We issued a rule that expands overtime protections to millions of workers, and my Administration is working to crack down on noncompete agreements, which prevent 30 million Americans from taking new, higher-paying jobs.      My Administration is also making sure that workers feel safe and secure on the job.  That is why the Department of Labor is proposing a new rule that will establish the Nation’s first-ever Federal safety standard for excessive heat in the workplace.  That rule includes developing a response to heat illness, training employees and supervisors, implementing rest breaks, and ensuring access to shade and water.  And we are limiting workers’ exposure to toxic materials like silica dust to prevent them from developing preventable and irreversible illnesses.  My Administration also issued a rule to ensure that workers are empowered to have a representative accompany an Occupational Safety and Health Administration official during workplace inspections.       I have long believed that workers deserve a seat at the table and an opportunity to join a union, organize, and bargain collectively with their employer without coercion or intimidation.  That is why I appointed people who actually care about American workers to the National Labor Relations Board.  And I established the White House Task Force on Worker Organizing and Empowerment, led by Vice President Harris, which resulted in over 70 actions to promote worker organizing and collective bargaining.      As we look to the future, my Administration is creating long-term pathways to help people secure good-paying jobs, including union jobs.  We invested nearly $730 million to expand Registered Apprenticeships, which support the education and training needs of apprentices across the country.  And I signed an Executive Order that expands Registered Apprenticeship programs in the Federal workforce, encourages Federal agencies to hire people who have participated in these programs, and increases workers’ voices in Federal programs and contracts.        This Labor Day, let us stand in solidarity with America’s workers, who are the engines behind our Nation’s prosperity.  Let us celebrate labor unions, who give voice to our workers and ensure they are given the dignity, respect, and protections in the workplace that they deserve.  And let us recommit to ensuring that every hardworking American has a fair shot at achieving the promise of the American Dream for generations to come.      NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States, do hereby proclaim September 2, 2024, as Labor Day.  I call upon all public officials and people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities that honor the energy and innovation of working Americans.      IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of August, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-four, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-ninth.

Trump Reposts Crude Sexual Remark About Harris on Truth Social

Though the former president has a history of making crass insults about opponents, the reposts signal his willingness to continue to shatter longstanding political norms.

Former President Donald J. Trump framed by American flags.

By Michael Gold

  • Aug. 28, 2024

Former President Donald J. Trump used his social-media website on Wednesday to amplify a crude remark about Vice President Kamala Harris that suggested Ms. Harris traded sexual favors to help her political career.

The post, by another user on Truth Social, was an image of Ms. Harris and Hillary Clinton, Mr. Trump’s opponent in 2016. The text read: “Funny how blowjobs impacted both their careers differently…”

The remark was a reference to Mrs. Clinton’s husband, former President Bill Clinton, and the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and a right-wing contention that Ms. Harris’s romantic relationship with Willie Brown, the former mayor of San Francisco whom she dated in the mid-1990s while he was speaker of the California State Assembly, fueled her political rise.

Mr. Trump’s repost was the second time in 10 days that the former president shared content from his personal account making sexually oriented attacks on Ms. Harris. Though he has a history of making crass insults about his opponents, the reposts signal Mr. Trump’s willingness to continue to shatter longstanding norms of political speech.

The image Mr. Trump shared on Wednesday morning was another user’s screenshot of a post on X, and it was a reply to an unrelated video clip Mr. Trump had posted on Tuesday night.

Mr. Trump reposted the image as part of a series of 30 reposts he made on Truth Social between 8:02 and 8:32 a.m. on Wednesday, including several posts with references to the QAnon conspiracy theory movement and its slogan. Mr. Trump also reposted photos that called for the prosecution or imprisoning of top Democrats and members of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. The former president has vowed to direct federal prosecutors to investigate his political enemies if elected.

Mexico’s AMLO defends legacy in final state-of-the-nation speech

Mexican president says controversial judicial reform plan to elect judges would ensure that courts are ‘at the service of the people’.

AMLO, standing in front of two Mexican flags, raises hand

Mexico’s President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has defended his legacy in the final state-of-the-nation address – an annual report on his government – a month before he is set to leave office and be replaced by his close ally Claudia Sheinbaum .

Speaking for two hours in Mexico City’s sprawling Zocalo Square, Lopez Obrador  bade farewell to enthusiastic followers on Sunday as he seeks to advance a major overhaul of the country’s courts.

Despite the controversial push, which critics say would weaken the judiciary , the Mexican president continues to enjoy a 73 percent approval rating as his six-year term winds down.

“We are living in a true democracy, building a new homeland” and “laying the foundations to begin a new stage”, he said in the speech.

Thousands of supporters of Lopez Obrador, widely known by his initials AMLO , filled the square, which saw a party-like atmosphere.

“I came because it is the farewell of one of the most historic presidents in the country,” Jose Luis Diaz, a 39-year-old entrepreneur, told the AFP news agency. “We won’t see another president like him for 100 years.”

The presidential report is an annual review of governmental progress in Mexico, akin to the president’s State of the Union address in the United States.

On October 1, Lopez Obrador will hand power to a fellow member of his Morena party, Sheinbaum, who was elected in June to be the country’s first woman president.

Presidents in Mexico are limited to a single six-year term, so Lopez Obrador could not seek re-election.

Sheinbaum will also inherit a package of constitutional reforms initiated under Lopez Obrador, including the judicial overhaul plan that opponents see as a worryingly autocratic move by the governing party.

At the core of the proposal is a plan to elect federal judges – including Supreme Court appointees – by popular vote. Lopez Obrador has said the change is needed to root out corruption.

But detractors say the plan will compromise the independence of the justice system. Last week, judicial workers, including judges, went on strike to protest the scheme.

Earlier this month, US Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar warned the proposed judicial changes – which include putting judges up for election – could threaten “the historic commercial relationship” between the two countries.

The US is Mexico’s top trade partner.

“Democracies can’t function without a strong, independent and non-corrupt judicial branch,” Salazar told reporters, prompting a strong response from Lopez Obrador.

The Mexican president described the criticism as “disrespectful” to Mexico’s “national sovereignty”.

Currently, federal magistrates in Mexico are chosen through an evaluation process, including exams, overseen by a judicial council.

Supreme Court justices are nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate.

On Sunday, Lopez Obrador defended the judicial overhaul plan, saying it would ensure that judges are “at the service of the people” and suggesting it would limit criminal influence in the courts.

Reporting from Mexico City, Al Jazeera’s John Holman said Lopez Obrador listed his achievements during his speech, focusing on his efforts to combat poverty in Mexico.

“I think critics and supporters alike would support that idea – that he has reduced the number of poor through direct credit transfers, by a raft of social programmes, pensions for the old and grants for school and university for the young,” Holman said.

He added that Lopez Obrador also talked about rooting out corruption in Mexico, but “there’s a lot less evidence for that”.

Not that it mattered to Lopez Obrador’s supporters – on Sunday, the most widely seen signs around Zocalo Square were those that simply said , “Gracias” – “Thank you”.
