A Boeing 737 Max 8 operated by Air Canada made an emergency landing in Idaho this week after experiencing an in-flight emergency.

On Tuesday, Flight 997 diverted to Boise during its trip from Mexico City to Vancouver, Canada, after the pilots received an indicator light in the flight deck, the airline told FOX Business. 

Officials later discovered that it was due to a faulty cargo hold indicator.

The flight landed at Boise Airport after the light came on as a precautionary measure. The aircraft was met by first responders at around 11 a.m. local time.

There were 122 passengers and six crew members on board during the incident.

All passengers were picked up by another aircraft Tuesday evening to complete their trip, the airline said.

Boeing deferred comment to Air Canada.    

This marks the latest in a string of incidents involving Boeing aircraft since the beginning of the year when a plug-in door blew off an Alaska Airlines flight. 

Earlier this week, a Boeing 737-800 plane – operated by Southwest Airlines – was headed for William P. Hobby Airport in Houston when the engine cowling fell off and struck the wing flap during takeoff in Denver.

A few days before that, a Boeing 737 Max 9 jet headed from Honolulu to Anchorage, Alaska, operated by Alaska Airlines, had to turn around after a malfunctioning bathroom sink flooded the cabin, according to reports.

United Airlines reported at least six unrelated incidents that occurred on planes operated by United since the end of February.

Five of them involved a Boeing plane.

Why Hoda Kotb Is Absent From ‘Today’ During Hoda & Jenna’s 5th Anniversary Week

Hoda Kotb took a break from Today in the middle of celebrating five years of cohosting with Jenna Bush Hager .

Kotb, 59, was absent from the first two hours of Today on Wednesday, April 10, shortly before the latest episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna . Savannah Guthrie joked Kotb was out “on assignment” as third hour of Today cohost Sheinelle Jones filled in.

Guthrie, 52, later clarified that Kotb was not present because she was “on her way to New Orleans” for Hoda & Jenna ’s special fifth anniversary shows on Thursday, April 11, and Friday, April 12.

Kotb and Bush Hager, 42, announced last month that they were taking their show to Louisiana to celebrate their cohosting milestone. “There’s only one place we could celebrate,” Bush Hager exclaimed during a March episode , to which Kotb added, “It’s the place where we have the most fun, where we are wild. We are wild when we go there.”

The pair are set to kick off the city’s 2024 French Quarter Fest music festival along with two lucky fans who won a special trip to join Kotb and Bush Hager for the festivities.

Earlier this week, the hosting duo celebrated five years since their first show together. “How does it feel for you, five years?” Kotb asked Bush Hager on Monday, April 8.

Bush Hager proceeded to gush over her colleague, saying, “It feels like it was yesterday, and it feels so profound to get to sit next to somebody that exudes joy no matter what you have going on. You greet me with a smile every single day, and I know it’s not always easy. In fact, it’s probably not easy at all. But you’re here and you sit next to me.”

Bush took over the role of Kotb’s cohost in April 2019 when Kathie Lee Gifford stepped down after 11 years on the fourth hour of Today . Though they started as “colleagues [and] friends,” Kotb said she was proud of how far her and Bush Hager’s relationship has grown over the past few years.

“There’s such a deep understanding of the other’s soul and purpose, we have traveled down these roads together,” she explained. “A lot of times, friendships don’t grow. They are: you talk about the old days. Not ours.”

Earthquake aftershock rocks New Jersey town nearly one week after 4.8 quake — just one of 46 aftershocks

N ew Jersey has been hit by more than 45 aftershocks following last week’s 4.8 magnitude earthquake — including one that rattled the Garden State Wednesday morning.

The 2.6 magnitude quake — the 46th aftershock — hit near Gladstone at around 10:22 a.m., the US Geological Survey said.

It was felt by just under 80 people, according to the USGS.

Three more tremors were reported on Tuesday, with magnitudes of 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5,  NJ Advance Media reports.

There were also four aftershocks reported across Hunterdon County on Monday, including one that came just as the sun was re-emerging from the moon’s shadow,  according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Dozens more occurred over the weekend.

The  strongest aftershock to date  came just before 6 p.m. on Friday, reaching a magnitude of 3.8 near Gladstone.

All of the aftershocks have been centered near the epicenter of Friday’s quake at Whitehouse Station in Hunterdon County, and geologists say even more could be expected in the coming days.

“We do expect aftershocks like this to occur in the days, weeks and months after the main shock, so this is fully within the realm of what is expected,” USGS research geologist Alex Hatem told The Post.

The chance of NYC feeling another rattle, however, is low. A light shake could be possible in the coming days, Hatem said, but nothing like the quake that  rocked the Statue of Liberty  and City Hall Friday or the aftershock that rippled through later that evening.

The USGS now predicts there will be smaller aftershocks through Sunday, with one having the potential to reach a magnitude 3 or higher.

However, it says, there is less than a 1% chance that one or more aftershocks will reach a magnitude of 5 or higher.

NEW YORK -- Aftershocks in the New York City area could continue for a week after one of the East Coast's strongest earthquakes in 100 years . 

The 4.8 magnitude earthquake centered in Readington Township, New Jersey rattled homes and buildings across the Northeast at 10:23 a.m. Friday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. 

The earthquake was followed by 32 aftershocks, according to the USGS, including one measured at 3.8 almost seven and a half hours later. All of the aftershocks were centered in New Jersey, but were felt across the East Coast. Seismologists expect more aftershocks over the next week, especially near the epicenter.

"While aftershocks are a concern for this first 24, 36, 72-hour period out to about a week, the entire East Coast is a seismically active area. But most of the earthquakes are relatively small," said Dax Soule, a seismologist and assistant professor at Queens College.

According to authorities, there were no injuries and no major damage to bridges, tunnels or buildings, but inspections continue across the region Saturday.

Late Saturday, CBS New York learned a Brooklyn middle school's gym was deemed unsafe after a Department of Buildings inspection found cracks inside. The rest of the school at 370 Fountain Ave. is OK.

There were reports of minor damage in the Tri-State Area.  

In Readington, which is approximately 45 miles west of New York City, a tree came crashing down and the upper portion of the Historic Grist Mill, built in 1760, collapsed after the initial jolt. Crews also responded to dozens of reported gas leaks . 

"It sounded like 10 freight trains going at the same time, and I heard, it felt like the house jumped, and then I thought, 'What was that?' And then it started to shake," said Mary Heidersberger.

"It was very scary. It sounded like something a bomb had gone off," said Anne Owen.

In Newark, New Jersey, the earthquake caused power outages and three homes were briefly deemed unsafe before inspectors allowed residents to go back inside. There were fears the foundations had shifted.

By Saturday, power had been restored to all three homes and all families were able to sleep in their own beds.

The earthquake was also blamed for a water main break that sent water gushing into the middle of a street in Randolph, New Jersey. 

"It was like a fountain, like a geyser. Just water spewing up," said Lisa Narcise. 

There are some questions over New York City's response time to the earthquake. A phone emergency alert was sent about 25 minutes after the quake.

Zachary Iscol, commissioner of New York City Emergency Management, stood behind their response.

"Twenty minutes is very, very fast for a public notification," he said.

But in California, where quakes are common, alerts can happen 10 seconds before an earthquake.

Of course, there are some people who say they didn't feel any of Friday's tremors -- and then there were businesses capitalizing off of it, selling t-shirts saying "I survived the New York City earthquake."

MIDDLETOWN - Jersey Central Power & Light is investigating the cause of a major outage in northern Monmouth County on Monday , which left more than 9,000 customers without electricity and caused traffic signals on Route 36 to go dark at the start of the evening commute.

A preliminary assessment of the power failure indicates that the culprit may have been that powerful storm that moved through the region one week ago today , which had weakened a specific sub-transmission line in the area, said Chris Hoenig, a JCP&L spokesman.

“The investigation is continuing, though the evidence does point to this line having been impacted by the winds that accompanied the storm last Wednesday,” Hoenig explained. “It held on for a few extra days, but ultimately failed (Monday) evening.”

Middletown Deputy Police Chief Paul J. Bailey said that motor vehicles had to be diverted around intersections where there were traffic light outages on Route 36, with fire police responding to the affected sites with barricades.

Police in Atlantic Highlands reported that their department followed the same procedure. Atlantic Highlands, Middletown and Highlands were all affected by the outage on Monday.

The sub-transmission line that failed feeds into a substation near Sandy Hook, so when that line failed the substation went out, Hoenig said.

Power to that part of the Raritan Bayshore was rerouted through another substation while crews investigated the source of the trouble, he said.

The outage occurred about 4:15 p.m. Monday and electricity was restored to all customers in the region by about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

An estimated 1,500 customers in northern Middletown alone were without electricity during the outage, according to JCP&L.

More than 3% of all customers in Monmouth County were impacted by the disruption.
