TPG extends its $5 for 20GB Seniors Plan to November 2024

TPG extends its $5 for 20GB Seniors Plan to November 2024

For just $5 for every 30 days, seniors in Singapore can enjoy a generous 20GB of data, 300 mins of free local calls, 30 SMS, free caller ID, free incoming calls and more. Available to all Singaporeans and Permanent Residents aged 60 and above, TPG’s SIM-Only plan offers the best bang for the buck for many seniors here.

It’s not just about good value – the $5 for 20GB Seniors Plan is also designed for ease of use and peace of mind. While there is a 20GB data cap, streaming does not end when the data limit is reached. Instead, users will be able continue with their unlimited mobile data access, though at a slower 512kbps instead of the full 4G LTE speeds.

For many seniors, this feature is a boon because they do not have to worry about bill shocks while pursuing their digital passions.

First launched last July 2020 in tandem with the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s Seniors Go Digital Programme, the TPG Seniors Plan was originally scheduled to last until 31 July 2021.

It has been very popular with seniors here. As a result, TPG is extending the Seniors Plan until November 2024.

Richard Tan, CEO of TPG Singapore said: “With the heightened stay-at-home Covid-19 measures, it has become even more important for our seniors to be able to stay connected from the comfort of their homes. By extending the Seniors Plan, we hope to continue empowering seniors to enjoy the wide spectrum of online content through our fuss-free and affordable plan.”

TPG $5 for 20GB Seniors Plan

At just $5 for 30 days (till November 2024, $10 per month thereafter), seniors can enjoy:

  • SIM-only plan with no contract
  • 20GB local data at full 4G speed. After 20GB, unlimited data at 512Kbps.
  • 300 mins of local call
  • 30 local SMS
  • Free 1GB Roaming Data to selected countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and more
  • Free Incoming Calls
  • Free Caller ID
  • Free port-in service
  • No service, registration and termination fees
  • Optional add-on Mobile Security VAS* at an additional $3
  • Mobile security service blocks requests to malicious domains and makes access to the Internet safer

Affordable mobile phones for seniors

In addition, seniors are eligible to purchase the following mobile phones to complement their SIM-Only plan.

As part of the SG Digital effort, TPG Telecom is pleased to be one of the telcos selected to participate

in the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) efforts to encourage digital adoption among seniors as well as providing financial assistance to lower-income seniors.

In addition to the offerings in the TPG Seniors Plan, seniors who qualify for  Mobile Access for Seniors  subsidised programme will be receiving the add-on Mobile Security VAS for free and can apply to purchase heavily subsidised smartphones that start from $20.

Registration and collection

Seniors can choose to register for TPG’s “Seniors Go Digital” mobile plan online at  tpgmobile.sg/seniors  or walk-in to any of our 10 stores.

TPG Plans to Raise $5 Billion Asia Fund with 10% Allocated to Korean Market

T exas Pacific Group (TPG), a global private equity managing firm, is set to establish a massive Asia buyout fund worth approximately $5 billion. They plan to invest around 10% of this fund into the South Korean market.

According to Bloomberg and other sources, on the 26th, TPG is planning to close its eighth Asia buyout fund, which will have a volume of 5 billion dollars.

TPG intends to allocate 80% of this fund to markets in Australia, India, and Southeast Asia, a 10% increase from the 70% allocation of their seventh fund. On the other hand, the investment ratio for China will be reduced from 25% to 10%. The remaining 10% has been allocated to the South Korean market.

Buyout funds acquire the management rights of underperforming companies, increase the company ’s value through restructuring or mergers and acquisitions ( M&A ), and then sell the company for profit.

TPG is one of the top three global private equity firms with assets under management (AUM) reaching $222 billion. Since acquiring the management rights of Korea First Bank through its Asian subsidiary, Newbridge Capital, in 1999, TPG has made its mark in the Korean market. After selling Korea First Bank in 2005, they exited the Korean market, only to re-enter in 2016 by recruiting Lee Sang Hoon and Vice President Yoon Shin Won from Morgan Stanley Private Equity.

TPG’s first investment after re-entering the Korean market was in Kakao Mobility. The new investment was praised as a model case of foreign investment, mainly through new share issues. Subsequently, they invested in Kakao Bank, Noksu, Bebecook, and Alvins. They held a shareholders’ meeting in South Korea in March last year. This was the first time TPG had held a shareholders’ meeting in South Korea in five years, since March 2018.
