People are pairing cursed photos of their pets with Ghost's Satanic symphony Year Zero and the Internet can't look away
Ghost are the stars of a new trend on TikTok as a cover of Year Zero goes viral along with videos of creepy pets
In recent weeks, occult party rockers Ghost have become something of a viral sensation, thanks to the creation of an alternative version of Mary On A Cross that saw countless TikTok users pairing their homemade videos with the trending song.
With Tobias Forge 's band still in the app's spotlight, as well as in the hearts of thousands of new fans across the app, another Ghost trend has emerged.
This one has surfaced as a bizarre yet humorous video format that sees pet owners taking 'cursed' (i.e creepy) photos of their dogs and cats, and soundtracking each photograph with Ghost's deliciously Satanic 2013 hit Year Zero. Specifically, as the choir in the song's introduction lists different pseudonyms for the Devil...' Belial, Behemoth, Beelzebub, Asmodeus, Satanas, Lucifer', a new and more unhinged photo appears of their furry critter, usually in some sort of unexpected pose.
Sadly, the version of Year Zero for this trend isn't the original by Ghost; it's actually a cover by Norweigen singer Minniva alongside the Quentin Cornet, but, it's still makes for an epic listen. Her rendition of the song has even been featured on over 25K videos on the app, and has over 800k views on YouTube.

Later this week, Ghost will be signing off on their North American tour alongside Mastodon and Spiritbox in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
In other related news, Ghost frontman Tobias Forge recently shared his thoughts on haters of the band , and revealed that he views any negativity aimed at them as "actually a good thing".

Ghost’s “Year Zero” Lyrics Meaning
by Amanda London · Published September 29, 2022 · Updated September 29, 2022
One prominent music site described Ghost’s “Year Zero” song as one that seeks to usher “Satan into the realm of man”. In other words, the reason why this particular junction in history is referred to as “Year Zero” is because it is the “ beginning of a new age ”, i.e. one in which the devil rules the Earth – or something to that effect.
So with that in mind, what we are met with here is largely twofold. In one regard, “Year Zero” does very much read as if it is an ode to Satan. But going as far as to conclude that Ghost are devil worshippers, based solely on these lyrics, would be a stretch. Rather and secondly, this is one of those types of pieces that doesn’t speak highly of the nature of man.
For instance, our “ fate ” is likened to “ that of lice ”, and people are even referred to as being “ equal as parasites ”, you know, as if our main ambition is pleasure and taking advantage of one another.
So basically, what the vocalist is getting at conclusively is the era of Satan, if you will, being imminent. It may be such that the “ kings and queens ” of the Earth are unable to perceive this. But as for someone who is in the satanic-know like Papa Emeritus II, he is able to clearly foresee that the world is fated to go to hell.
From the eyes of the narrator of “Year Zero”, the current trajectory of the world is such that the earthly reign of Satan is at hand.
Facts about “Year Zero”
“Year Zero” is one of Ghost’s earliest singles, with Loma Vista Records releasing this song on 19 April 2013, and it being part of the playlist of “Infestissumam”, the Swedish act’s second album.
A Ghoul Writer penned “Year Zero” alongside Ghost frontman Tobias Forge and one Martin Persner, i.e. the band’s guitarist at the time. In fact Forge is on record as putting forth that this is one of only two tracks in Ghost’s discography which he was not the primary author of, i.e. with Persner rather serving that role (and the other being 2015’s “Zenith”).
Meanwhile, the producer of this song is American behind-the-scenes’ musician Nick Raskulinecz.
This track (and its music video) was a critical success, in addition to “Year Zero” apparently being a fan favorite. However, by the looks of things, the song did not chart in any country.
The interesting cover art to this track was directly inspired by an early 19 th century engraving titled Satan Presiding at the Infernal Council .
The music video to this song was directed by another Swede in Amir Chamdin. And it has been strongly noted that there is two versions of the clip, i.e. the original as well as one that is censored.

They are lost their mind..bul****t
It’s literally just self expression. People sing worship songs all the time, this is just basically being critical of that. You don’t have to agree with it, but they have the right to do whatever they want.
Personally, I’m firmly agent any form of praising Satan, HOWEVER – if I’m not mistaken, that isn’t what this song does at all… Go read the lyrics. Essentially the message is that we, humans are (for the most part) filth & like a parasite to everything we make contact with & by continuing to be as we are, we’re catering & rolling out the red carpet for lucifer to become our overlord. That seems like a fair warning message to us to change our ways & NOT to “keep on keeping on” – – unless we’re fine with having the devil take over our realm!! * BASICALLY, THIS SONG GIVES US A FAIR WARNING & IT DOESN’T PRAISE OR EVEN PROMOTE THE WORSHIPPING OF THE DARKSIDE.

Year Zero Christ was born right! That’s what I assumed!
Yeah but in this context it’s about the birth of the antichrist.

@tony009 hahahahahahaha
I think this band is heavy on the show aspect in their music, but really there music is kind of pop-stoner-metal with some goth and lots of SATAN.

but seriously this whole idea of "hail Satan" should start to resonate and make people question the whole outdated christian notion of satan, which in Judaism (where MOST of the name comes from) the idea of "THE satan" (in the hebrew there is always the article "the" attached to the name "satan" ) is different.

In general I think we should question what we are taught as evil and what we are taught as good.

Anyways GHOST ROCK !!!!! \m/ ( > < ) \m/
Well once again people need to except this song as entertainment. The beauty of living in the U.S.A. You have a choice listen or don't listen. This song is as sac religious as they come but nothing subliminal here. It is just entertainment people. Ghosts unique showmanship and vocal are music to my ears. Can think of many other artist who where labeled as sac religious. Kiss, Dio, Gwar, Ozzy just to name a few. Love this band and there great sound keep rolling the hits out. Papa Emeritus III Still waiting for round trip airfare from Texas to Amsterdam and ticket to the the concert for your 2017 show. Signed David Big Texas

Tobias Forge, aka Papa Emeritus, is a total genius. This is a very catchy song and a very awesome tune. \m/
The lyrics in the booklet say "Hell Satan", not "Hail Satan"

@bruno64253 but how would that make sense and the booklet has a fancy font of words that make it hard to read.
@bruno64253 @Ghost B.C. is my religion - It is "Hell Satan", it's archaic Swedish which means "Hail Satan". 4.bp.blogspot.com/-6BD6nBotwls/UWTfblIKfJI/AAAAAAAAA2c/tqI0Dwtawm4/s1600/58ebf07d.jpg - Official Lyrics also inthecoven.blogspot.com/p/responsa-frequently-asked-questions.html
@bruno64253 Could also be Papa Emeritus' heavy Swedish accent.
I came here 'cause I couldn't make out a couple of the names in the beginning, but I have to say... there is no way the fate of man is "lice" LOL lies, people, lies!

@HartRock90s Disagree...see the next line about 'parasites' - he's basically saying the same thing as Slipknot - 'People = Shit' by comparing man to lice.
@2sylbl okay you’re right there seems to be a consensus among other sources. Lies just makes more sense to me.
@HartRock90s how does that make more sense? "Lice" makes just as much sense, and is far more degrading, comparing mankind to tiny, weak insects.
@Khaotica92 it makes more sense to me . I see now in hindsight how my first comment here comes across as a little harsh- didn’t mean to step on anyone’s toes. I just thought it was lies to begin with before searching the lyrics and so my brain learned the song that way. I know some artists make a point of not telling fans what their songs are truly about because they want fans to make their own personal connections and meanings within their own lives. I, personally, like the idea of songs taking on multivalent meanings (of course I still have the curiosity regarding what the artist in question intended). So I respect the song’s meaning with “lice”. I also see value in “lies”. It may be “wrong” if we’re getting technical, but this is art not science. Anyways, that’s just what my takeaway will be. Great song, great band. I’m not here to argue and again sorry to anyone who might not like my initial comment- I see it differently now.
My takeaway is that when we choose to blindly trudge through life we are easily misled by lies and deceit. And we deserve it. These lyrics are actually very similar in flavor to some of those found more recently on Ghost's 2022 release, "Impera".
The actual name set at the beginning are actually other demons besides Satan they're called crown princes of hell and by saying the names out like that how they are and in that style now they're pronouncing it it's actually for ritual invoking the powers of those demons those devil gods there are many many devils but one true dark Prince who is Satan the archangel and they're explaining that they're either saying you're zero like the beginning of the world or either zero meeting the end of the world and a new start and this is how it's going to be and he will be ascended so high he will be beyond the stars of God he's God will be the one below he will be above like any other good old first few go CDs singing the praise to Satan love it
