NIOS Class 10th result 2024 out; check steps to download

Nios class 10 result 2024: after checking the result students could collect the migration-cum-transfer-certificates and marks sheet-cum-certificate by their ais..

NIOS 2024 Result: The National Institute of Open Schooling announced the results of the Secondary (Class 10)  public theory exams 2024. Once the result is declared, candidates will be able to check and download their results from the official website— results.nios.ac.in.

This year, the theory exam for the NIOS class 10 exam was held from April 6 to May 22 across various examination centers all over India and overseas. In the public theory 2024 exam, candidates were provided a surplus of 15 minutes to read the question – 2:15 pm to 5:30 pm, while some exams concluded at 4 pm, 4:30 pm and 5 pm.

NIOS Class 10th 2024 Result: How to check

Step 1–  Go to the official website — results.nios.ac.in

Step 2 –  Select the “Public Examination class 10 result 2024”

Step 3 –  Next tab, enter enrollment number and provided captcha

Step  4 –  Click on the submit button

Step 5 — Result will be displayed on the candidate’s screen

Step 6 — Download and save the result for further reference

Last year, the NIOS exam was held from April 6 to May 8 and the results were declared on June 24.

In 2022, a total of 77,836 students were enrolled in Class 10. Out of the aforementioned total, 76,776 students appeared for the October 2022 exam for Class 10. The total number of students who passed the exam are— 43,930 in Class 10.

After checking the result students could collect the migration-cum-transfer-certificates and marks sheet-cum-certificate by their AIs. Also, the request for NIOS Class 10 result correction can be applied within 30 days from the date of the result declaration.

How much do middle class people make in Michigan and other states?

A new report found that the change in Michigan's middle-class income range over 10 years has generally kept pace with national trends — but that isn't the case with every state.

GOBankingRates , using United States Census Bureau data, reported that Michigan had a 41.33% increase in the middle-class income range between 2012 and 2022. In comparison, the national rate of change over the same period of time was 41.67%.

How much do middle-class people in Michigan make?

What makes an individual or a household middle-class has long been debated , with varying definitions and metrics from multiple sources. However, GOBankingRates uses the Pew Research Center's definition — "an income that is two-thirds to double the U.S. median household income."

By this definition, Michigan's 2022 middle-class income range was between $45,670 and $137,010. In 2012, the same range was between $32,314 and $96,942 per year. In both years, the state's threshold and ceiling for the middle class were slightly below national averages, meaning that Michigan's median income is also lower than the national median income.

Michigan's rate of change for its middle-class income range places it at 21st out of 50 states. Of every state in the U.S., Oregon had the greatest increase at 53.15%. On the other end of the spectrum, Alaska had the lowest rate of change at a 23.53% increase over 10 years.

However, it is important to note that this ranking differs from calculations of which state has the lowest and highest income thresholds to be considered middle class. By that metric, Michigan has the 18th-lowest income range for the middle class. Nationally, Maryland has the highest ceiling for its definition of the middle class, while Mississippi has the lowest floor.

• Airline rating company Skytrax has released its 2024 list of the world's best business-class cabins.
• Qatar Airways and its Qsuite business class cabin took top honors. 
• Skytrax rankings are based on surveys of travelers from more than 110 countries. 

Qatar Airways offers the best business-class cabin in the world, according to travelers polled by travel industry rating company Skytrax .

Skytrax published its latest rankings in June as part of the 2024 World Airlines Awards, which also named Qatar Airways the best airline in the world .

Business-class offerings from Asian and Middle Eastern airlines took the top six spots in the Skytrax rankings which are compiled using feedback from over 350 airlines from travelers representing over 100 countries.

Here's a closer look at airlines with this year's 10 best business-class offerings in the world, according to Skytrax.

10. Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines operates a fleet of more than 450 narrow and widebody airliners, including the Airbus A321neo, the Airbus A350, and the Boeing 777, with various business layouts .

The Istanbul-based carrier also won the Skytrax award this year for best business class catering in the world and best airline in Europe .

EVA Air is a subsidiary of container shipping giant Evergreen Group. The Premium Laurel business class on board the Taiwanese carrier's widebody fleet offers lie-flat seats and 15.4-inch entertainment screens.

The DeltaOne business class is available on the Atlanta-based airline's widebody fleet for long-haul flights.

DeltaOne is the top-rated business class in North America.

Air France has the highest-rated business-class product in Europe. The French national carrier also won awards for the best airline in Western Europe and for best first-class catering.

Hainan has consistently been China's highest-rated carrier and the only one of the country's four major airlines not owned by the Chinese central government.

Hainan operates a fleet of over 100 aircraft, including the Boeing 737, 787 Dreamliner, and the Airbus A330.

5. Cathay Pacific Airways

Hong Kong's Cathay Pacific operates a fleet of more than 150 passenger aircraft, primarily widebody jets such as the Airbus A330, A350, and Boeing 777, with lie-flat business-class cabins.

Much of the semester will be devoted to honing your literary analysis skills, and we will study and discuss texts from several different genres—poetry, short fiction, the novel, drama and film—as well as some literary criticism. As we do so, we will explore the language of the discipline, and you will learn a variety of key literary terms and concepts. ENGL 201.ST1 Composition II: The Mind/Body Connection

In this section of English 201, students will use research and writing to learn more about problems that are important to them and articulate ways to address those problems. The course will focus specifically on issues related to the mind, the body and the relationship between them. The topics we will discuss during the course will include the correlation between social media and body image; the efficacy of sex education programs; the degree to which beliefs about race and gender influence school dress codes; and the unique mental and physical challenges faced by college students today. For generations, environmentalists have relied on the power of prose to change the minds and habits of their contemporaries. In the wake of fires, floods, storms and droughts, environmental writing has gained a new sense of urgency, with authors joining activists in their efforts to educate the public about the grim realities of climate change. But do they make a difference? Have reports of present and future disasters so saturated our airwaves that we no longer hear them? How do writers make us care about the planet amidst all the noise? In this course, students will examine the various rhetorical strategies employed by some of today’s leading environmental writers and filmmakers. And while analyzing their different arguments, students also will strengthen their own strategies of argumentation as they research and develop essays that explore a range of environmental concerns.

ENGL 201 Composition II: Food Writing

In this composition class, students will critically analyze essays about food, food systems and environments, food cultures, the intersections of personal choice, market forces and policy and the values underneath these forces. ENGL 221.S01 British Literature I

English 221 is a survey of early British literature from its inception in the Old English period with works such as "Beowulf" and the “Battle of Maldon,” through the Middle Ages and the incomparable writings of Geoffrey Chaucer and the Gawain - poet, to the Renaissance and beyond. ENGL 240.ST1 Juvenile Literature Elementary-5th Grade

In English 240 students will develop the skills to interpret and evaluate various genres of literature for juvenile readers. This particular section will focus on various works of literature at approximately the K-5 grade level. We will read a large range of works that fall into this category, as well as information on the history, development and genre of juvenile literature.

Readings for this course include classical works such as "Hatchet," "Little Women", "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" and "Brown Girl Dreaming," as well as newer works like "Storm in the Barn," "Anne Frank’s Diary: A Graphic Adaptation," "Lumberjanes," and a variety of picture books. These readings will be paired with chapters from "Reading Children’s Literature: A Critical Introduction " to help develop understanding of various genres, themes and concepts that are both related to juvenile literature and also present in our readings.

In addition to exposing students to various genres of writing (poetry, historical fiction, non-fiction, fantasy, picture books, graphic novels, etc.) this course will also allow students to engage in a discussion of larger themes present in these works such as censorship, race and gender. Do you have an appreciation for, and enjoy watching, movies? Do you want to study movies in a genre-oriented format (such as those we typically call the Western, the screwball comedy, the science fiction or the crime/gangster, to name a few)? Do you want to explore the different critical approaches for talking and writing about movies (such as auteur, feminist, genre or reception)?

In this class, you will examine movies through viewing and defining different genres while, at the same time, studying and utilizing different styles of film criticism. You will share your discoveries in both class discussions and short writings. The final project will be a formal written piece of film criticism based on our work throughout the semester. The course satisfies requirements and electives for all English majors and minors, including both the Film Studies and Professional Writing minors. (Note: Viewing of movies outside of class required and may require rental and/or streaming service fees.)

ENGL 476.ST1: Fiction

In this workshop-based creative writing course, students will develop original fiction based on strong attention to the fundamentals of literary storytelling: full-bodied characters, robust story lines, palpable environments and unique voices. We will pay particular attention to process awareness, to the integrity of the sentence, and to authors' commitments to their characters and the places in which their stories unfold. Some workshop experience is helpful, as student peer critique will be an important element of the class.

ENGL 479.01 Capstone: The Gothic

With the publication of Horace Walpole’s "The Castle of Otranto " in 1764, the Gothic officially came into being. Dark tales of physical violence and psychological terror, the Gothic incorporates elements such as distressed heroes and heroines pursued by tyrannical villains; gloomy estates with dark corridors, secret passageways and mysterious chambers; haunting dreams, troubling prophecies and disturbing premonitions; abduction, imprisonment and murder; and a varied assortment of corpses, apparitions and “monsters.” In this course, we will trace the development of Gothic literature—and some film—from the eighteenth-century to the present time. As we do so, we will consider how the Gothic engages philosophical beliefs about the beautiful and sublime; shapes psychological understandings of human beings’ encounters with horror, terror, the fantastic and the uncanny; and intervenes in the social and historical contexts in which it was written. We’ll consider, for example, how the Gothic undermines ideals related to domesticity and marriage through representations of domestic abuse, toxicity and gaslighting. In addition, we’ll discuss Gothic texts that center the injustices of slavery and racism. As many Gothic texts suggest, the true horrors of human existence often have less to do with inexplicable supernatural phenomena than with the realities of the world in which we live.

Since their beginnings in the 1920s and 30s, writing centers have come to serve numerous functions: as hubs for writing across the curriculum initiatives, sites to develop and deliver workshops and resource centers for faculty as well as students, among other functions. But the primary function of writing centers has necessarily and rightfully remained the tutoring of student writers. This course will immerse you in that function in two parts. During the first four weeks, you will explore writing center praxis—that is, the dialogic interplay of theory and practice related to writing center work. This part of the course will orient you to writing center history, key theoretical tenets and practical aspects of writing center tutoring. Once we have developed and practiced this foundation, you will begin work in the writing center as a tutor, responsible for assisting a wide variety of student clients with numerous writing tasks. Through this work, you will learn to actively engage with student clients in the revision of a text, respond to different student needs and abilities, work with a variety of writing tasks and rhetorical situations, and develop a richer sense of writing as a complex and negotiated social process.

ENGL 605.S01 Seminar in Teaching Composition

Thursdays 1-3:50 p.m.

This course will provide you with a foundation in the pedagogies and theories (and their attendant histories) of writing instruction, a foundation that will prepare you to teach your own writing courses at SDSU and elsewhere. As you will discover through our course, though, writing instruction does not come with any prescribed set of “best” practices. Rather, writing pedagogies stem from and continue to evolve because of various and largely unsettled conversations about what constitutes effective writing and effective writing instruction. Part of becoming a practicing writing instructor, then, is studying these conversations to develop a sense of what “good writing” and “effective writing instruction” might mean for you in our particular program and how you might adapt that understanding to different programs and contexts.

As we read about, discuss and research writing instruction, we will address a variety of practical and theoretical topics. The practical focus will allow us to attend to topics relevant to your immediate classroom practices: designing a curriculum and various types of assignments, delivering the course content and assessing student work, among others. Our theoretical topics will begin to reveal the underpinnings of these various practical matters, including their historical, rhetorical, social and political contexts. In other words, we will investigate the praxis—the dialogic interaction of practice and theory—of writing pedagogy. As a result, this course aims to prepare you not only as a writing teacher but also as a nascent writing studies/writing pedagogy scholar.

At the end of this course, you should be able to engage effectively in the classroom practices described above and participate in academic conversations about writing pedagogy, both orally and in writing. Assessment of these outcomes will be based primarily on the various writing assignments you submit and to a smaller degree on your participation in class discussions and activities.

ENGL 726.S01: The New Woman, 1880–1900s

This course explores the rise of the New Woman at the end of the nineteenth century. The label New Woman referred to independent women who rebelled against social conventions. Often depicted riding bicycles, smoking cigarettes and wearing masculine clothing, these early feminists challenged gender roles and sought broader opportunities for women’s employment and self-determination. We will read provocative fiction and nonfiction by New Women writers and their critics, including authors such as Sarah Grand, Mona Caird, George Egerton, Amy Levy, Ella Hepworth Dixon, Grant Allen and George Gissing. We will analyze these exciting texts through a range of critical lenses and within the historical context of imperialism, scientific and technological innovation, the growth of the periodical press and discourse about race, class and gender. In addition to writing an argumentative seminar paper, students will complete short research assignments and lead discussion.

ENGL 792.ST1 Women in War: Female Authors and Characters in Contemporary War Lit

In this course, we will explore the voices of female authors and characters in contemporary literature of war. Drawing from various literary theories, our readings and discussion will explore the contributions of these voices to the evolving literature of war through archetypal and feminist criticism. Jury begins deliberations in class-action lawsuit against NFL by ‘Sunday Ticket’ subscribers

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The NFL was exploring a world without “Sunday Ticket” in 2017, where cable channels would air Sunday afternoon out-of-market games not shown on Fox or CBS.

The league memo was shown by plaintiffs during their closing arguments on Wednesday as the jury in the class-action lawsuit filed by “Sunday Ticket” subscribers began deliberations.

After receiving instructions from U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez, the jury heard the plaintiffs’ closing statement in the morning. Following lunch, the NFL gave its final remarks before the plaintiffs had 20 minutes for rebuttal.

The jury met for 90 minutes before wrapping up for the day. Deliberations will continue Thursday.

In a trial that has lasted three weeks and featured testimony from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, the April 21, 2017, memo — titled the “NFL New Frontier” — provided one of the biggest highlights.

The memo was a reimagining of Sunday afternoons where every game would be on a broadcast or cable network. Fox and CBS would have paid 25% less per game (approximately $10 million per game) while cable networks would have paid $9 million per game, which was the average doled out by DirecTV in its contract with the league.

The figures were for the rights that expired after the 2022 season. Those averages would be higher now with agreements that started last season.

The league memo showed early games on FS1, ESPN, ESPN2, TBS, TNT, NFL Network and CBS Sports Network with late games on FS1, TBS and TNT.

Bill Carmody, one of the plaintiffs’ attorneys, called the memo “one of the hottest documents in the case” during his closing arguments.

“It’s so important because this is a document that says everything that our damages model is based upon the NFL looked at and approved of, and in real life, behind the scenes,” Carmody said. “What the NFL’s talking about here ... is they’re talking about moving forward with the same network games on Fox and CBS, but, instead of a subscription, why don’t we put it on basic cable? That’s what we’re talking about. Lose the subscription price, compete, be fair, let’s see what happens.”

Some of the out-of-market games under the NFL’s memo though would not be on basic cable. Fans and cable companies would also absorb some of the costs through higher subscription fees.

The lawsuit covers 2.4 million residential subscribers and 48,000 businesses who paid for the package of out-of-market games from the 2011 through 2022 seasons on DirecTV. It claims the league broke antitrust laws by selling its package of Sunday games at an inflated price. The subscribers also say the league restricted competition by offering “Sunday Ticket” only on a satellite provider.

“This case transcends football. This case matters,” Carmody said. “It’s about justice. It’s about telling the 32 team owners who collectively own all the big TV rights, the most popular content in the history of TV — that’s what they have. It’s about telling them that even you cannot ignore the antitrust laws. Even you cannot collude to overcharge consumers. Even you can’t hide the truth and think you’re going to get away with it.”

The league maintains it has the right to sell “Sunday Ticket” under its antitrust exemption for broadcasting. The plaintiffs say that only covers over-the-air broadcasts and not pay TV.

Beth Wilkinson, the lead attorney for the NFL, said the league has not disputed that “Sunday Ticket” is a premium product and that it has always been marketed that way.

“That was never in dispute in this case because none of this is secret. None of it is a surprise,” Wilkinson said in her closing argument. “Nobody in this broadcast world thinks there’s anything wrong with it. They failed to bring any witnesses into this courtroom that agree with them.”

If the NFL is found liable, a jury could award $7 billion in damages, but that number could balloon to $21 billion because antitrust cases can triple damages. It would also change how the league would have to distribute its out-of-market broadcasts and could lead to renegotiated contracts with Fox and CBS. The current agreements with the league run through the 2033 season.

CBS and Fox pay a combined average of $4.3 billion per season for Sunday afternoon games while YouTube TV pays an average of $2 billion per season for the “Sunday Ticket” rights.

The lawsuit was originally filed in 2015 by the Mucky Duck sports bar in San Francisco, but was dismissed in 2017. Two years later, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which has jurisdiction over California and eight other states, reinstated the case. Gutierrez ruled last year the case could proceed as a class action.

Whatever the decision ends up being, the losing side is expected to appeal to the 9th Circuit and then possibly the Supreme Court.

LOS ANGELES — The jury in the  class-action lawsuit  filed by “Sunday Ticket” subscribers will receive instructions and hear closing arguments on Wednesday before beginning deliberations .

U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez will issue jury instructions and the plaintiffs will give their final statement during the morning session. Following lunch, the NFL will give its final remarks. Each side will get 1 hour, 10 minutes to make statements with the plaintiffs getting an additional 20 minutes for rebuttal.

The lawsuit began on June 6 and featured 10 days of testimony from economists and league executives, including NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones .

Gutierrez turned downs plaintiffs’ motion to rule for them as matter of law on Tuesday morning. He tabled the NFL’s motion until after the verdict.

That means even if a jury rules for the plaintiffs, Gutierrez could still rule in favor of the NFL and say the plaintiffs did not prove their case.

Gutierrez brought up that possibility last week when he said “I’m struggling with the plaintiffs’ case” while hearing motions from both sides.

The lawsuit covers 2.4 million residential subscribers and 48,000 businesses who paid for the package of out-of-market games from the 2011 through 2022 seasons on DirecTV. It claims the league broke antitrust laws by selling its package of Sunday games aired on CBS and Fox at an inflated price. The subscribers also say the league restricted competition by offering “Sunday Ticket” only on a satellite provider.

The league maintains it has the right to sell “Sunday Ticket” under its antitrust exemption for broadcasting. The plaintiffs say that only covers over-the-air broadcasts and not pay TV.

DirecTV had “Sunday Ticket” from its inception in 1994 through 2022. The league signed a seven-year deal with Google’s YouTube TV that began with the 2023 season.

Even though “Sunday Ticket” is available to more fans since going to a streaming provider, the prices are higher than they were on DirecTV. The league has maintained throughout the trial that “Sunday Ticket” is a premium product.

Former CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said in a memo to the NFL and during testimony that the network had thought “the concept has always been that these packages are sold at a premium, thereby limiting distribution.”

Fox Sports Executive Vice President Larry Jones said during a 2022 deposition that it was important to the network for “Sunday Ticket” to be a premium product so that it did not impact local ratings.

“We think it’s important for it to be a premium product that’s complementary to our telecasts. And so long as it’s a premium product, the market will govern the extent of distribution,” he said.

Jones said yes if that meant the more expensive “Sunday Ticket” was, the fewer subscribers it would have.

How much do middle class people make in Oklahoma and other states?

A  new report  found that the change in Oklahoma's middle-class income range over 10 years is slightly less than national trends — but that isn't the case with every state.

GOBankingRates , using  United States Census Bureau  data, reported that Oklahoma had a 36.7% increase in the middle-class income range between 2012 and 2022. In comparison, the national rate of change over the same period of time was 41.67%.

How much do middle-class people in Oklahoma make?

While there are several definitions for what makes an individual or a household middle-class, GOBankingRates uses the  Pew Research Center's definition  — "an income that is two-thirds to double the U.S. median household income."

By this definition,  Oklahoma's 2022 middle-class income range was between $40,909 to $122,728 . In 2012, the same range was between $29,927 to $89,782 per year. In both years, the state's threshold and ceiling for the middle class were below national averages, meaning that Oklahoma's median income is also lower than the national median income.

Oklahoma's rate of change for its middle-class income range places it at 37th out of 50 states. Of every state in the U.S., Oregon had the greatest increase at 53.15%. On the other end of the spectrum, Alaska had the lowest rate of change at a 23.53% increase over 10 years.

However, this ranking differs from calculations of which state has the lowest and highest income thresholds to be considered middle class. By that metric, Maryland has the highest ceiling for its definition of the middle class, while Mississippi has the lowest floor.
